is it only those two games giving you issues? because bioshock has many stability issues, ofr example, it doesnt run on my machine for longer then 5-15 minutes before crashing randomly, 2k has some serious issues with this game. and for crysis it could be that beta is not yet optomized for your graphics chipset, but as for that im really not sure, it could be a hardware or software issue as well.

good luck.

if you are looking for a sleek design or silent operation its a fantastic case, if you want something with abit better cooling, i would recomend the antec nine hundred, i got one and not regretting it.

its a pretty good machine, agian, for gaming the one thing holding you back is the video card, i wouldnt expect crysis to run at higher then medium settings at 1280*1024, but i could always be wrong, after all, we have only seen the beta and it isnt optomised, and we have no idea how much they are going to improve it.

but agian, it should be a good little gaming rig that will be able to play most stuff out maxed out at 1280*1024 and even abit higher.

with 512 up and 1.5 megs down, you should be okay, but that sounds like an odd setting, usually 1.5down is 256up, if you want to check hit up http://www.speedtest.net/

yo, home now, ATI tool will go till it starts detecting artifacts, you are correct there, and how much is depends on the specific card, ecch card OCs differantly, yours may make it 10, 20, or 30% so unfortuanatly i dont have a solid answer for you. And as for the fans go, with ATI tool you can change at what tempurature it decides to speed up to what percentage of the maximum fan capabilities. so if you keep it default it might go one step higher then you have heard it, or you could set it so that at 60 degrees it puts the fan to maxed out, its up to you, i usually leave it alone, or bump the tempurature that it goes to the next fan speed up a few degrees cooler, but its personal preferance, im dont really care about the small differance in fan noise to keep it at the same or slightly lower tempurature.

best of luck, Schubie.

thats usually the safe fallback OC that i perform on both memory and on core speeds, its usually not going to increase tempurature to much, and voltages arnt going to need to change to keep it stable, but you can always tweek it abit lower or abit higher on one or the other.

im done class now, so i will be home in about an hour, try and help out abit more then.

peace.

im not sure, there are two differant revisions of the card, i thought the only differance was a voltage regulators, but mabey they changed clock speeds, in that case i would still stick with the 10% OC for now.

and no problemo, glad to help.

ok ill look into the overclocking, my only question is, how much fps gain could i get? like a range, maybe a 10-20 fps jump depending on the game if i overlock both?

also, it is important to know, if i keep stock cooling for both and overclock, how likely is it i could have problems? or they break? or how less will the lifespan be?

edit - when comparing the 6300 to the 6600 on quake 4, it gives about a 20 fps difference. is that just the 2 different processors with the same everything else in the system? (tomshardware)

Vax45

I'd say the overclock you plan on doing, you'll get a 5 - 15 FPS increase on a game that was released some time ago (like Doom 3 or F.E.A.R.).

You are definently going to have problems finding the sweet spot where your machine won't lock up, but that's common.

On that benchmark from Tomshardware, everything besides the GPU in the rig should be the same.

this is comparing CPUs, not GPUs, and yes, between the benchmarks for the C2Ds, almost everything (if not everything) will be the same or very comparable.
