FACT: for the price of a PS3 you can build a cheapo gaming PC - check EBAY it's not BS.
also factor in the HD tv you need to get the best out of your console.
also factor in the FACT that everyone has a PC anyway so all we are talking about really is a used graphics card from ebay (£50 will buy you a 8800GT
As the title suggests the PC is still very quietly moving onwards through the changing landscapes of gaming and still holding its own. So consider what it has to offer in terms of quantity and quality of games, the still unrivalled online experience(yes xb live gamers the pc makes your chosen online service look slightly limp), MMOs, and the yet to be trumped mouse/keyboard FPS control method. I could mention xb,ps3 and even Wii exclusives but the PC has 'em too WOW anyone? So i think the PC could be regarded as a contender for King of platforms!
And remember the 3D stereoscopic gaming and HD has been around for a decade or so already on pc!
EA cater for all and with the new SSX in the pipeline will this be the game that uses motion controls over all the 3 major platforms? SSX Blur was good in my opinion(those who dissed the motion controls were simply crap at it) can the move take it to the next level or will Kinect show its worth? or could the Wii with its now solid motion plus come out on top?
Well, I wouldn't refer to myself as the smartest person there is, but yes, I am pushing forward that kiddie image that the Wii goes with. Which is fine, but no one else I know who defends the Wii is above 15 and below 50. So I assume that the patter would continue, but I guess there's always a first.[QUOTE="Blabadon"][QUOTE="Pantburster"]
15! I wish, i'm 38 :-0
What made you think that posting a thread with the title 'Sticking up for the Wii' leaves the assumption the poster must be 15 or under? OR is this a backhanded insult reffering to the 'kiddie' image some gamers assosiate with Nintendo? you would have to be very clever to have meant this and looking at your post reply i would say you are of average intelligence.

Im 20 and I will defend the Wii... Add another person to your list!
I suppose your opinion is the norm and that is why i started this post, to defend the Wii as a real platform for entertainment even in the face of HD consoles.

I disagree. I think if you play the same side scrolling, platforming, adventure, puzzle game for 10-20 years, you hate the advancement of gaming.
Having less accurate controls (Wii motion controls) is not advancing gaming, it's holding it back by funneling casual money to a company that would rather push balance board peripherals then create games that break new ground in gameplay and interaction (AI/Graphics).

What is wrong with motion controls and indeed the Wiimote? i like it personally. Most games are made better for it BUT only if it is done right! i would use the excellent Metroid prime games as a great example of a game which scored high and was said to be near perfect. They added Wiimote controls and it is universally accepted that it improved it. This is the advancement of gaming. I would say rubbish party games using motion control could be described as the abuse of the advancement of gaming!
No, more people who play games don't use motion controls then people who do.
YOU are not the majority and it is not "universally accepted".
Maybe you missed the point? i meant amongst the people/reviewers who have delved into the Metroid prime games pre and post wii controls they agree universally that they improved the experience. The same is said of Resident evil 4. Surely you must agree that these games are universally accepted as better for having Wiimote controls? and what i would say to those waving the flag for dual analog is keyboard/mouse!!! put 3 methods of control on a server playing COD or whatever and it is a FACT that Keyboard/mouse wwould win then Wiimote/Nunchuck and last of all Dual analog.
[QUOTE="XxXHottZeldaXxX"]If you hate the Wii you hate what makes gaming good. It's fine if you don't prefer it over HD consoles, but hating the Wii is hating Nintendo games...and that's just...evil.FragTycoon

Just reading this title, I'm assuming you're younger than 15? I only use my Wii for the Virtual Console and some decent games time in and time out.

With the recent sales of Wiis slowing and every man and his dog deciding to write a 'bout time' comment after these stories, I thought it would be right to mention to the game playing public that some of us like our Wiis. The thing is we Wii owners and i mean the ones who understand what we own know that we won't be playing Vanquish or Bioshock anytime soon. But we do have Mario Galaxy and Zelda :-) ok not everyones cup of tea sure but you can't deny the sheer quality of the core Nintendo offerings. I play my 'grown up' games on my PC so i get my fix of blood and guts too. This brings me round to my other point that the big N always gets a bashing for too, KIDDIE games!!! What i would say to a PS3 / XB gamer(love these consoles too btw) is this, Is it really mature to play a game pretending to be a space marine blowing aliens heads off? i mean more than than pretending to be a plumber flying through space :-) anyway RESPECT the Wii it's got a lot to offer if you give it a go.
