@tonyleo01: It was the end of an era when this console came out. Playstation started setting the next trend of CD based console games and N64 felt like it was the end of cartridge based console games. I think one of the things that made the 64 great was how well it was still able to craft games despite being a console still clinging to old tech as years went by.
I feel bad for Shenmue fans. The original games are classics, only for the franchise to never get an ending and when it finally does pick up all these years later, they get a subpar sequel and an unfinished anime. It kind of makes you wonder what the whole point was.
The trailer for this is awful and the positive reviews are few and far between. Most are saying it's pretty bad. I trust this review like I trust a spider in my shoe. I suppose SOMEONE has to be a fan though.
As someone who never played this series before and getting this game as a rental, I am looking forward to playing it. Particularly since there is nothing else coming out that I have much of an interest in playing. It will be a good time waster until I find something else that catches my interest.
@id0ntkn0w7: Yeah, Goldeneye does feel like a pretty big miss. That game single handedly showed how well console shooters could be and ushered in the beginning of shooters being taken seriously on consoles.
I was honestly a little surprised to see Deus Ex here. It's usually not considered a "shooter", so doesn't get lumped in with other shooters. It's my favorite game though, so I am not complaining. Despite how ugly it might be, it's still timeless for me. I keeping hoping that one day we'll get a sequel as good as the original.
Maybe it's because I didn't watch Buffy the TV series or because I am not overly familiar with Whedon's writing, but I have no idea what "Jossification" is. I've never seen that written as a thing in describing something else and I've never heard anyone use that term before...until now. So, congrats, I guess, for coming up with a descriptor.
I'm also not entirely sure what is wrong with the trailer. If I didn't know any better, meaning knowing that people are making fun of it and this article, I'd shrug my shoulders. It's not great writing, but it also doesn't come off as trash to me. It just...is. I've heard kids speak worse and say cheesier stuff irl than what she says in that trailer. Idk, maybe it's just age or being so worn out from everyone having to be critical of every single thing that comes out these days. Personally, the game looks fun and I'll definitely be playing it.
