As much as I enjoy the ridiculousness of this franchise, and that is precisely what has me coming back, a 9 is very hard to swallow. You have to have pretty low standards to consider this a 9. Even if we take the film just for it's entertainment level, a 9 would put it up there with some of the best action films you can find. There are times I can accept that people have wildly different opinions, and then there are times when film reviewers, who are supposed to come across as professionals, just sound amateur.

@GalvatronType_R: No one goes to a FF movie for the same stuff they go to those movies for. They go to see cars fly off a cliff, a truck speed through a city with a magnet dragging everything with it, and two buff dudes punch each other on a speeding van. Sometimes, people just want to watch stuff blow up.

@rancid36: In one of my screenwriting classes, while we were studying how to write comedy, my instructor explained why Friends worked as a comedy and how the formula of the show managed to touch nearly all the bases of what made a comedy successful at the time. Whether we like it or not, the writer and producers of the show knew what they were doing to bring in an audience.

Prepare to cry? I got bored halfway through the trailer and moved on. These reunion shows are dull. They really should just do a long form episode. I'm interested in seeing these actors play the characters we knew them for and not just sit around talking about their memories of the show. I don't even care if they use the same sets or w/e. This is the same problem I had with the Fresh Prince reunion.

Hope it's as enjoyable as the first movie. Looks like they're following Sonic 3. I am hoping they take this out of Earth and we get to see some of the locations from the games brought to life, as we did with the beginning of the original film.

Some of these are fairly boring, but I haven't seen most of these since they came out, so I can't really remember which were my personal faves. Although this series hasn't really been good since the first three films, it's still a guilty pleasure of mine. I also think The Rack ends up no. 1 on most lists I've seen. It's easily the nastiest of all the traps.

I'm actually looking forward to it being a bit different from RE7. I enjoyed that game, especially for it's dark atmosphere and it being more akin to RE1 than the action heavy later games, but I like the fact this one actually does resemble those more. It sounds like fun. I do hope the story isn't just some side story that veers off the path set by RE7. That game promised to give us a great new addition to the RE mythology and I really want to see it continue.

If they really weren't trying to leave as a point connecting to the next film, why even include that small post-credit scene? I don't think anyone watching would buy that that somehow isn't a lead in to whatever is next. Personally, I like when the individual movies get cameos. That connection is cool and is partly what makes these films special, that they not only stand on their own, but also stand as part of a bigger whole.

@restatbonfire: I'll get it eventually. I'm not worried. I've been happy with my PS4, just about everything coming out is still coming out for PS4, and there aren't many PS5 exclusives at the moment. I'd rather wait and pay retail price than spend a couple extra hundred bucks just to have one sooner.
