It's something I'll try when I can finally get a PS5, but after reading the review, I'm in no rush. This seems frustrating and I'm not much into these chaotic, Souls-like games. The rogue-like is appealing, but this doesn't sound like a must have for me.
@dantaris: Why would this specific game need a character creator? The majority of games don't. What, specifically about this game, would require you to have a character creator? Or do you just not play games that don't let you create a character?
@restatbonfire: Even going beyond the jacked up pricing, I wouldn't trust anyone on something like Craigslist to sell me a PS5. At least through retail/Sony, I know I am getting a product that is fresh out the box.
Even if we account for subjectivity, in what possible way is this a 9? The action scenes are entertaining, but most are short and over before they even register. Most characters barely get development and exist to either A. Divulge a bunch of exposition, C. Show up and die so we can see a cool fatality, or C. Be a boring cliche. The fact they wanted to turn this into a prequel instead of focus on the tournament is the problem. It was unnecessary and the whole movie feels like a lead in for the ACTUAL MK movie we're supposed to get. I'm here scratching my head, wondering how in the heck anyone could think this is a 9, and all I can think is that your standards are way too low.
That's really disappointing. There was a great opportunity for this series to make good use of the game franchise generation spanning timeline. Instead, we got four seasons drawing out a game that initially had very little story. I was really looking forward to the animation bringing in characters like Simon, Richter, and Maria, but I guess it's ending with the same characters it began with. Still looking forward to this final season, but it's really a missed chance to capitalize on one of the best parts of the franchise.
@nilsdoen: Sure, but some of us have patience. I can wait so I don't have to pay double or triple the price. I'm perfectly happy playing my PS4 until I can get a PS5 at regular price. But hey, you do you.
I enjoyed the demo, but I got a heavy sense of repetitiveness that I haven't gotten from other games like this. Maybe the story just wasn't as interesting for me? I do know I was very disappointed this went from a unique colonizing a planet plot to a typical and, what felt generic, post apocalyptic, man's last stand. I'm glad this is turning out well though. This will probably at least be a rental for me, as I've heard it's only about 30 hours with little end game.
