@Lord_Sesshy: And why should Twitch keep letting them stream? These streamers would be nothing without these platforms. And if they cross a line, it is the streamers responsibility to end their career. Twitch needs to go after all these streamers and end their streaming careers.

@daidochus: It doesn't make sense to you because you're observing everything for m a rational, emotionally detached placed. You're not the character in this story. You're not experiencing Ellie's loss. You're not in her mindset. And no one ever said we're supposed to like her choices. That's part of the story. It does create an interesting angle for the story. We're in control, and yet we're not. We control some actions and others we do not. Perhaps it is because of this the game doesn't sit well with us. You can't accept that Ellie does these things, and in order to do so, you have to accept that what she does doesn't make sense. And you're right. Ellie shouldn't have gone on her quest for revenge, obviously, but no one ever said she was right. That is part of the reason why we play as Abby. So why does Ellie's story exist at all? Why play it if it isn't enjoyable? Because that's the story. Because Ellie going on a senseless quest for revenge is the story. He actions aren't logical, but she's not doing any of this from a place of logic, but that's the story and it has a point. Whether or not we actually like that story or not is up to the individual player.

@daidochus: That she had Mel subdued is questionable. Go watch the scene again. Mel attacked Ellie with a knife after Owen was shot. What was Ellie going to do while Mel tried to kill her? Knock her to the ground and leave her there? She was in survival mode. Of course she was going to kill Mel. Mel and Owen shouldn't have attacked her. Even if you disagree with Ellie killing Mel, it makes perfect sense she would do it. In that situation, it's either kill or be killed. Had she known Mel was pregnant, things might have been different.

I'm at the 20 hour mark and I have failed to see what the issue is with the game. I don't find it as good as the first, mostly because I liked the plot structure of the first game better and the forward momentum it provided of you both trying to survive and get Ellie to where she needed to go. It was a solid goal. For this one, I have failed to see any of the issues players have talked about.

1. Joel dying: With what Joel did, it feels like a proper direction for the story. Not necessarily one I would go in, but the writer's haven't made a misstep. Joel did a terrible thing. In this post-apocalyptic world where each of these people probably only have a couple of others they can truly cling to and have a relationship with, losing even one person can mean the end of the world. That Abby would spend all that time plotting revenge and taking it doesn't come across as an issue to me. That it would actually happen to Joel too never stood out as a problem. He's old, he's grown to live comfortably, and he had absolutely no reason to think a group of people would try to murder him for no discernible reason, especially when they're all trying to escape a storm.

2. Ellie seeking revenge: This I can agree is a little less sound as a story element, since Ellie shows she would know WHY they would seek revenge and her relationship with Joel was apparently over. But I still don't see it as game breaking. Joel was still important to her, important enough that she would want revenge on whoever killed him. It doesn't seem out of character, at least for me, for he to go off and do this. Plus, when the game was advertised, they made it pretty evident she was off on a quest for revenge. It was pretty predictable that Joel would die during the game, or at least it's a theory I had and that I have heard others talk about, so it's not that big of a stretch to put two and two together. I've had zero problem with Ellie's journey.

3. Playing as Abby: I've actually enjoyed playing as her, more so than Ellie. As much as I like Ellie and Joel, I also understand the world of TLOU. There's more to it than those two characters and they are as imperfect as everyone else. The first one never painted them as some kind of heroes or anything. Hell, what Joel does at the end of the first game is downright villainous, so much so that I can totally understand why Abby does what she does. Playing as Abby gives insight into who she and her people are, not these horrible bad guys it seems like everyone wishes they WOULD be, but just people trying to survive. This seems to be a case of people not getting what they WANT as opposed to this being a bad part of the game. Abby's part is enjoyable and Abby herself is as interesting as both Joel and Ellie were.

I certainly have my criticisms, both in terms of gameplay and story, but nothing near as close as to what people are complaining about. I won't deny people's lack of enjoyment of the game or their criticisms. I do feel bad people don't like the game. That really sucks for them. I personally enjoy it and find 90% of it to be completely sound. Then again, I may not have had near the attachment to the first game or it's characters as others did. Oh well. Looking forward to finishing it.

@auronxiii: Massive over exaggerations. The writing may take the game in directions you don't like, but it's certainly not bad. From a technical standpoint, the writer's tell the story they want and do so successfully. Whether or not you actually like that story is a whole other case. I've yet to experience the things people are upset about, but I personally am enjoying the story and characters. The game was bombed even before it came out, so people obviously made up their mind before it came out once they knew Joel died and that half the game would be played as a different character. This is another case of fans not getting their way exactly and having a temper tantrum over it. And then there are all the woke commentary, which I won't even get into because it's dumb. Heck, people went so far as to call Abby trans simply because they don't find her attractive, and that tells you everything you need to know.

@daidochus: 1. Ellie was attacked. Ellie wasn't trying to kill either of them, she just wanted to know where Abby was. She was attacked by Owen, and then by Mel and she killed them both. You don't remember how horrified Ellie was after she realized Mel was pregnant?

2. It's a revenge tale and that's how they usually go. Have you never watched any revenge films before? Joel killed her father. It's not reasonable, but it's certainly plausible she would go after Joel for revenge. That's the whole damn point. Everything is busy plotting revenge and trying to kill each other, which is pointless, but in this world where death and murder are a pretty regular thing, these people trying to get revenge on each other doesn't feel far fetched at all.

It'll still be worth playing. It is a shame it's not a full blown sequel, but I am glad they are moving forward with the Miles Morales story.

@jaijames: Over one game people don't like? Yeah, totally undoes all their other games that have been best of the industry and GOTY with each one that comes out. Totally done.

@cejay0813: Don't people get tired of using the 'woke' word. Seriously, who cares? What makes it so overboard? In my own life, I am surrounded by all the things you talk about and I'm a hetero, white male. Nothing about the 'woke' elements in the game feels out of place, over done, or out of the ordinary. Every time I hear people bring up words like 'woke', 'SJW', or 'PC culture', it just tells me that these people come from small communities lacking diversity. You live in a place diverse enough for long enough, and nothing about what or who is in this game that feels out of place.
