@R2C25: David Cage games usually fail to capture because the plots usually AREN'T good. Taletell games are pretty much the same mechanics and many of them are beloved.

@Sp00n13: The lengths people will go to get aggro on somebody is ridiculous. That this has nothing to do with the original Prey (which, imo, is a silly criticism) is clearly NOT the same point as going after a developer for using the word Prey in their title (which, imo, is a legit criticism). Yes, they had the legal right to do both by virtue of buying the license, but those are nonetheless two *different* rights and two *uses* of their trademark. Acting like they're the same thing because they're covered by the same right is like acting like going to a protest and gossipping about your friends are the same thing because they're both covered by the first. Moreover, and this is most important, that someone has the legal right to do something doesn't make that the morally right thing to do. You're legally within your rights to lie and gossip about your friends, but if you do, the legality of it is not likely to convince your friends to keep hanging out with you.

Finally, RE: Bethesda's statement. While Pete Hines said they "had to" go after Prey for the Gods or risk losing their trademark, CDPR has said they don't intend on using the trademark except when someone is clearly trying to piggyback on their work--which Prey for the Gods is clearly not doing to Prey. So either CDPR is being misleading about the extent to which they will use the TM Hammer or Bethesda is being misleading about the extent to which their inaction would put "Prey" at risk. Who are you gonna believe?

@dev-raid1: The idea is that the demo also uses Prey.exe but is somehow modified to keep players from playing beyond a certain point. If that modification can be more easily removed from the demo than the Denuvo could be from the full game, then releasing a demo without Denuvo would make piracy easier. But given these assumptions--which are necessary to make sense of theories like RedDeivl's--why not just put Denuvo on the Demo?
