@pcpirate78:Fanboy thinking. It's reasonable to use exclusives in making a purchasing decision, but once you've made it rooting for more exclusives to come your platform is just rooting for other to miss out.
Imagine it were that way with other things. "Man, I'm really upset that Toyota lost it's exclusives on airbags!" Or "Ugh, I really hate it that Android lost their exclusivity on [such-and-such app] Now those damn iOS users get it too!" Or "Can you believe that every movie shows everywhere now? Man I remember back when 'select cities' was the norm. Come on, LA! Protect your exclusives!"
@dude99: I think there's several reasons. The big reason is people don't know what's involved in making the move to PC and people are comfortable where they're at. You mention throwing a GTX 1060 into an existing computer. But most people don't know (1) which GPU to buy. Maybe they know that GTX 1060 is a good option, but they don't know if it's the best option. And even if they know that, which GTX 1060? What does this TI thing mean? And what's the difference between an MSI GTX 1060 and an EVGA GTX 1060. (2) Do they really need to change nothing else? Do they need a new case to keep things cool? What about a new PSU? (3) They don't know how to install any of that stuff. Yes, there are online tutorials, but it's just one more thing to learn. (4) If they use their Desktops as work computers, they aren't going to want to move it to the TV room. Now, you'll say "but steam link!" and you're right, but a lot of console gamers don't even know about it. (5) Library. A lot of people already have a large library of xbox 1 or xbox 360 games that they don't want to leave behind. In my experience you can usually sell your old games on craigslist for enough to make up for the cost of replacing them, but again, it's just one more hoop to jump through.
I say this as someone who made the jump from xbox 360 to PC a few years back and wouldn't dream of going back to consoles. But it seems to me like a lot of people--both PC and console--underestimate how much you need to learn to make the switch.
@sealionact: It's objectively a very short list of exclusives. Only 9 each of which is only a *console* exclusive (i.e each is coming to PC) and 1 of those 8 is just a timed console exclusive (http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/15/e3-2015-tacoma-is-coming-to-xbox-one-and-pc-first) and also a walking simulator (gross). Equally objectively, none of those 8 is generating the kind of buzz that the now canceled Scalebound was, nor are we likely to see any on a lot of most anticipated games of the year lists.
Now perhaps each of these 8 games turns out to be awesome and people look back at 2017 and say "man, there weren't a ton of xbox exclusives, but they had was just killer." But at the moment that future looks unlikely.
@runstalker: Learn what you're talking about. AMD doesn't release a chip that they haven't thoroughly tested. This isn't overclocking it's simply allowing the GPU to run at the factory max speeds on all games. Like literally every other graphics card in the world.
