@mikes1025: I say that as someone who's first two consoles were Nintendo systems (first 4 if we count handhelds). But I eventually left because I've already played Mario to death and Nintendo didn't offer any other reason to stay. I think a lot of gamers are like me: they grew up on Nintendo games and just aren't excited by them any more.
@doctor_mg:That's true. But those are all very Nintendo IPs. I just don't see Arms or 1, 2 Switch bringing in people who's weren't already excited by the prospect of a new nintendo console.
I'd think there's be better chance for Splatoon to bring new people on board, if it had been a system seller for the Wii U. And I say this as someone who would have a bought a Wii U if only anyone I knew had bought a Wii U. But playing against randos was never my thing and no one else was that excited about splatoon :(
@titang1: Hahahahahaha. Thanks man. I really needed a laugh. First, off before you call someone dumb try learning some reading comprehension. He works for UBISOFT not Nintendo (it's in the F&cking title). Second, you're armchair analyzing as much as I am. Third, and oh boy is this going to rock you apparently very small mind, just because a business man says something doesn't mean he actually believes it. SHOCKER! I mean seriously, do you think this guy isn't giving you PR? Did you miss the BS answer he gave to why some B-list game rather than Watch Dogs 2 was coming to Switch.
Thanks again for the laugh. It's been fun, but you're waaaay to stupid to keep talking to. I'm out.
@titang1: 1.) You're an asshole. Really, you're gonna tell people they shouldn't be gaming because they're cash strapped.
2.) Point was, it's a relevant difference. Sure, some people buy their phones outright. Some people buy two titan XPs and then drop another grand on custom watercolling solutions. My point was that most people (or if not most then a sizable minority) upgrade their phone at the end of a contract. So if you're criticizing people for buying a 400-800 dollar phone and complaining about the price of a 300 dollar device, then you need to take into account that the price for the one very often paid all-at-once. Of course, you should probably also take into account that the devices are completely different, but you seem incapable of that.
@RS13: And besides, most people pay for their new phone in installments. Over the course of a two year contract, the difference between a 200 dollar phone and an 800 dollar phone is just $25 a month. Anyone see an installment plan for the Switch?
@mikes1025: The hybrid concept is cool, but if your big selling point is "And AAA Mario and Zelda titles will be on it," you're still only appealing to Nintendo fans.
@titang1: It was irrelevant in the article, it was it irrelevant when you said it was a good point. No one buys a phone because they want gaming in their pocket. They buy smartphones for the literally dozens of other things smart phones can do. The fact that smart phones can game doesn't make them a good comparison to the Switch any more than installing an xbox in a benz would make it a good comparison to the Switch.
@Jag-T1000: I'm pretty sure the PS4 supports external hard drives--the PS3 did. The reason you'd want to replace the PS4 hard drive is because the HDD it comes with is . . . {loading} . . . {loading} . . . slow.
