who cares? everyone that owns a PS4 barely has any time to play any free titles at the moment, because this is the best start of a year for PS ever!

@ProjektInsanity: true. you'll never have this issue if you start playing by the time the game is already patched. i bought every Souls game on release day, so i experience those changes and create builds based on the effectiveness of weapons / spells before any major patches come out. and as i said, i'm all for balancing the game, it just seems it's often not done right, as in the case with the spell i mentioned which they could've just tuned down a bit instead of making it pretty much useless.

another reason to buy Souls games early on is the high online traffic shortly after release. you can e.g. really enjoy all the covenants the game has to offer and try them out because everyone is doing that. people have a very hard time getting the items (proofs) to level up the botd-covenant now, because the conditions that need to be met are very specific (host needs to have a certain covenant equipped, needs to be embered, needs to be in a world where he has a boss left, needs to be invaded, needs to be around your level, needs to have weapon upgrades comparable to your own). i completely leveled up the covenant in the 1st weekend, nowadays i heard it takes weeks, because you barely get summoned (and then you need to actually defeat the invader, without him disconnecting or dying before you arrive).

now concerning glitches and bugs i definitely agree patches can be heavensent. it's just when the devs get to excited with their nerfing which results in items going from overpowered to completely useless... that's a shame.

damn, that's one fine offer. i'd sell the CODs and keep the 2 good games and it would be even more of a bargain. Ps4 slim doesn't look as nice though, isn't the casing made of cheap material?

@PSYCHOV3N0M: That's one way to see it. And definitely legit i think. Though all Souls games i liked best when they 1st came out, before everything got nerfed with patches. Back in the times of Dark Souls there was only 1 big patch and it came very late (about a year or 2 after release) that nerfed some weapons and rings, and in some cases made them totally useless. It's not a cool feeling when you played the game for a long time, farmed you gear, got used to it and then it kinda completely changes. Dark Souls 2 also had this patch but a lot earlier (even though it was a good half year as well) that totally wrecked the usage of some spells.

The thing that is not (and may be can not) be considered with the patches is the influence on PvE, because all weapon nerfs and buffs are always solely based on performance in PvP. So players who enjoy PvE more than PvP get kinda screwed without reason.

I understand and appreciate the need of nerfs in an online game for balance purposes, but it just sometimes seems the Dark Souls devs aren't really good at it. Case in point: Resonant weapon. Started out as a stronger weapon buff compared to other spell weapon buffs (with comparable character stats) with the downside of costing 2000 souls for each cast (effectiveness and duration were decreased a lot if you don't have 2000 souls to pay). Perfect trade. Not what the PvP-crybabies thought so it got nerfed to the point that it was equally strong (if not weaker) than Dark weapon, which does not have any additional souls cost AND only needs 1 slot (as opposed to Resonant Weapon's 2 slots). I took this example, because it stayed in my mind of one time Dark Souls made a spell that was really good and changed it to "absolutely no reason of ever using that again for any build possible", instead of just nerfing it down to being a good spell.

Everyone dying was the only possible ending. I saw it coming and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. There are enough happy endings already. Perfect for this kind of standalone-movie.

I still don't get what it's about. You can just aimlessly inhabit different lifeforms and objects and just "be" them for a while? There's no goal, no gameplay?

Damn, if only i wouldn't buy the good stuff as soon as it comes out...

Well actually haven't bought RE7, Nioh, Nier or Horizon yet, so i'm hoping for a nice sale at the end of summer.

Hmm, to the author, you completed the game 5x in 50 hours? so it's more comparable to a DMC or God of War-game rather than an action-RPG?

@Raidendude153: that's what's holding me off as well. it just looks exactly like a far cry game. i'm not saying combat and other gameplay is the same, but the HUD, the map, the inventory menu, the upgrade trees... it's all very similar.

@fedor: exactly i'm still busy with Rise of the Tomb Raider, Dishonored 2 and parts of the Bioshock Collection. Next to that i always regularly play the current Souls game, re5 and U4 MP. Horizon, Nioh and Nier all look like games i wanna play, i just wonder when? And then of course...Prey!
