I got Assault on Dark Athena, and when i turn off V sync i get +30 fps. But i really can't tell if it looks better. Without V Sync, it looks kind of more blurry. What does Vsync do anyway?

My friend asked me to delete everything and reinstall windows for him, so i put his bootable CD, make boot from CD in Bios and the CD won't boot! I can still run the CD from windows, but it chouldn't boot from it, so i can't delete the partition it says i need it for installation...

So can i delete Windows without bootable CD? Also his reason for deleting was that he got restarts, blue screens, and freezes during games .Maybe that has something to do with it. I told him i would ask arround on a forum..:D

Well it's a super far-fetched idea but you could try disabling page file, I doubt that's gonna help tho if it appears in both XP and Vista. Another far-fetched idea could be that the HDD has reverted to PIO from DMA, has happened to me but it was ages ago so not sure how likely it's with modern computers. Open world games might have some stuttering when loading a new area anyway, I wouldn't be too worried about it if it only happens for e.g. when moving to a new area.mr_mozilla
No, no it happens all the time, it's not when you enter a new area, it's all the time. I tried disabling Pagefile, there are still stutters, but i think there are less now, On Stalker, on oblivion it's the same. I don't know how to check that PIO to DMA thing can you tell me pls.

You said the same thing happens on the lowest gfx settings too didn't you? That is odd. Certainly pointing towards a hardware fault. I take it your system is showing all 4 gigs of memory and all of your gfx card memory (is it 512meg or a 1 gig card)?

Assassins Creed ran fine; was that under dx10 or dx9?

Yes, even with the lowest setting it's the same. Yes all 4 gigs are being shown. My card has 896 Mb ram.Assassins Creed is under DX10.

This belongs in Hardware forum.

MrUnSavory1
I didn't think about it sorry. Well im bumping this because i now installed all the games i own. I installed The Last Remnant (also got stutters) and Assassins Creed (stutter free). When i get this for example in Oblivion it says loading area, and in STALKER i get this little flashing icon which means that the textures are being loaded. It's like my computer can't load the textures quickly so it pauses for a second, or it just's freezes when new textures are being loaded doesn't mean it's loading them when it freezes....does that make any sense?

Are you sure it was the same thing. I can't open my PC because it's under waranty, if i open the case I'l loose 1 year waranty. For me to clean it up i have to carry it to the compound and they must clean it up. It's stupid but it's a pain carrying it there So are you sure it was the same? I could post a video if you want to. Like you move arround and it stutters, freezes for 1 or half a second and then it's fine for 20 seconds and then again...You sure? Thanks

So hmm... i installed 181.20 drivers, with clean install and it was the same. So that wasn't the problem. I am gonna try some hardware diagnostic tools for download. I mean it's gotta be the HD right? Are there some settings about it from windows about the HD, maybe i have tampered with it and ruined it.
