[QUOTE="THE_DRUGGIE"]Okay, so is this about people who support the war in Iraq or those who are against it?THE_DRUGGIE

It has nothing to do with the war, it has to do with supporting the troops.

Well, I'm not exactly sure what that means...

...are you serious? There's no hidden meaning there. It's for people that support the young men and women that are in the military, the people that sign up and lay down their life for freedom.

I am not saying that there is one large conspiracy. I am just saying that if you take guns out of the hands of the people, people will take advantage of it. We lose yet another safeguard against tyranny.

Once we lose the ability to make the government accountable for its actions, we lose our freedom.

Luminouslight

I'm still not getting how we make the government accountable for it's actions by possessing handguns. Many of the countries that don't allow the firearms we do aren't having a huge problem with governments. And look at Africa, they have loads of guns and their government is... well... I don't even know the word for it.

Summary:

RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing
Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to
be called the 'silent majority'. We are no longer silent, and are
voicing our love for God, country and home in record b reaking numbers.

We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing.. We get no liberal
medi a coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many
Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize
that the vast majority of America supports our troops.

Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity
and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday
until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that.. Every
red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear
something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every
Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the
bleachers.

If every one of us who loves this country will share this with
acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the

USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the
once 'silent' majority is on their side more than ever; certainly more
than the media lets on.

[QUOTE="Luminouslight"]I that a person should have the right to own a gun. If we take guns out of the hands of the people, guess who has the guns now...Luminouslight

just the government and criminals. but then again theyre usually the same thing

Yeah, until we rid of corruption in government I believe it is necessary for the public to have firearms.

And more conspiracy nuts come forward. What corruption? When will we have to use our .45's and 9mm's against artillery, tanks, and machine guns?

Sorry, but freedom of speech and freedom of owning crazy *** guns does not = the same.

They are both civil liberties, and in terms of legal precendent, they are linked. >_>

You can't compare them. One is philosophic and the other is materialistic.

You're thinking about it too close minded IMO. They're both declarations of the inherant rights each American citizen has.

The issue of the 2nd Ammendment is a topic of such hypocrisy among those who so strongly advocate the 1st Ammendment but then dismiss all of us 2 Ammendment advocates as just "Gun Nuts".

The 2nd ammendment was designed for us to form town malitias, in case our government attempted to mirror that British government that we had so recently escaped from. In modern time, the 2nd Ammendment is outdated and has been perverted to include owning as many guns as someone can lay their hands on.

In my opinion, gun nuts are generally people who have never joined the military or done a man's job in there life, and they regret it. Owning lots of guns somehow makes them feel better about themselves, somehow making them more of a "man."

except the fact that people who are in the military avidly support the NRA.

also, have you ever read the second ammendment? it says NOTHING ABOUT TOWN MILITIAS. it does mention militia, but it also states that PEOPLE have the right to own guns. Its not out dated, you dont decide that.

I'm in the military, bud, and I hate the NRA. Nice generalization, it made you sound very intelligent. And I don't decide it's outdated? It's still, "We the people," right? Well, I vote the 2nd Ammendment is obsolete and dangerous, and idiots have perverted it beyond recognition. Just my opinion.

if you're in the military then im surprised you havent talked to anyone. because a lot of the funding that goes to the NRA comes from the military.

yes it is still we the people, and thats why we need guns so that WE THE PEOPLE can defend ourselves from a government who might want to take our rights away.

what happens when someone says "well, people shouldnt be offended, so freedom of speech is out dated" ? what you're advocating is simply step one to that process.

Comparing freedom of speech to the 2nd Ammendment is a horrible contridiction. Also, I highlited the part of your post that reveals you to be a conspiracy nut, so I'll end my convorsation with you now.

haha are you serious? i guess george washington, and the rest of the founding fathers were conspiracy nuts. laughable attempt at getting out of a debate you cant win.

Our founding fathers were fresh out of a war with the British, it was a very real threat that the British could come back in and try to take over again. Why am I still talking to you? Go shoot your handgun and feel like a man for an hour or two, I'll sit back and watch our homicide rates skyrocket.

you arent doing a very good job here. but lets go, this is always fun

1. I dont own a handgun. I dont really need one at the moment, but that dosent mean others dont. I will however, eventually purchase when I feel the time is right.

... got me.

2. Thats irrelevant. They were smart people, they know how government works. The government has slowly been getting more involved with our lives over the years and its only a matter of time before they try to run everything. Try googling some of the things our founding fathers have said about having arms. they specifically talked of the future and violent over throws of the UNITED STATES. they saw it not as something that MIGHT happen, but something thats bound to happen because the nature of government is corruption.

You really are sounding like a conspiracy nut, no offense. What do you think a few people with some 9mm's can do against the military?

3. Washington DC has the highest (at least one of the highest, not sure of the actual placement) murder rate and the highest gun control laws.

That I didn't know, but I still think it's appropriate that it's our nation's capital

if YOU WERE A MURDERER YOU WOULDNT MESS WITH SOMEONE WITH A GUN.

Gang violence? I'm pretty sure both parties have guns...

You were the first person in my entire life to call me a conspiracy nut. Good job at failing miserably.

Keep voicing those opinions that the gov't will try to kill all of us and I won't be the last.

So what about the 1992 LA riots or Hurricane Katrina? I'm sure there must be some kind of exceptions to such a rule.

MarineJcksn

Marines were brought in during the '92 riots to restore order when the police where overwhelmed due to the sheer level of human stupidity and greed. God, I wish I had been there to beat the ever loving crap out of some of those looting lunatics.

PS. Don't give me some touchy-feely garbage about how the 92 riots were about "oppressed minorities" raging against the machine. They were greedy dirtbags who stole things they didn't need and committed horrible crimes against each other. **** 'em all.

Amen

As a Company, Southwest Airlines is going to support 'Red Fridays.'

Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a conference. While I
was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me
beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed
one of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen.

Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. As they
began heading to their gate, everyone (well almost everyone)was abruptly
to their fe et with their hands waving and cheering.

When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and
cheered for, it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red-blooded
American who still loves this country and supp orts our troops and their
families.

Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young
unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so
we can go to school, work and home without fear or reprisal.

Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our
service men and women, a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old ran
up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said 'hi.'

The little girl then asked him if he would give something to her daddy
for her.

The young soldier, who didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself,
said he would try and what did she want to give to her daddy. Then
suddenly the little girl grabbed t he neck of this soldier, gave him the
biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.

The mother of the little girl, who said her daughter's name was
Courtney, told the young soldi e r that her husband was a Ma rine and had
been in Iraq for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her
daughter Courtney missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up.

When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all
of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the
other servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie. They
started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it.

After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to
Courtney, bent down and said this to her, 'I spoke to your daddy and he
told me to give this to you.' He then hugged this little girl that he
had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying
'your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and
he is coming home very soon.'

The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young
soldier sto od to his feet, he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was
standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event.

As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people
resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around,
there were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in
one last act of selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney
with a tear rolling down his cheek.

We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and
thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's
good to be an American.

[QUOTE="RiSkyBiZ-13"]The movie 25th Hour is based on that idea, check it out sometime- GREAT movie.SaintLeonidas

well, kinda of..not really. 25th Hour is the day before he went to jail for 7 years he was an innocent guy. This is your innocent and go right from the court room to jail.

He wasn't innocent, I just watched it last night. They showed the DEA pulling massive amounts of drugs out of his couch.
