And it was fun participating.Another point I forgot to mention is that Wii games always have lower quality sound effects/game music/game ambiance sounds due to the limitations of the Wii console and this is also ruining quality gameing as its a distinct letdown to be playing for example Bioshock and then transfer over to a Wii game and be met with stereo? stereo! in some games where developers for Wii console games were lazy/uncareing and do not even get me started on the outrage of hearing monophonic sound from my left and right mains speakers in some wii games.

The reality is Nintendo is ruining quality gameing for all of us.

And thank you Mr. Casey W. for participating as He was polite and set an example that other gamesite forums sadly need.

I'm not so concerned about it being a flop or not. I'm just concerned because the quality of the content on Gamespot has declined since i started coming here in 2001.

Floppage needs to be determined by consensus any way. I mean if PS3 people are hypin AAA for heavenly sword and it COMPLETELY bombs. Yea thats funny. But to have people call out the people who hyped MP3 AAA and because one site went one notch in AA we have all the fanboys coming out. but i guess thats systemwars for ya.

BigGimp77

www.gamepro.com also gave it LESS than AAA score.

And I am sure that I can find more sites that give MP3 LESS than AAA

[QUOTE="briguyb13"

It did happen just not at Gamespot, which means every other credible site but this one gave TP and MP3 AAA. What's that about?

I beg to differ:

Review: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

AVG. user score: 4.0

AVG. critic score: 4.5

Fun Factor: 4.25

NO AAA game here.

Another thing that most reviewers leave out is how they scored the sound ambience and the quality of the game sounds.

For example if a reviewer just got done with Bioshock and then did MP3 can anyone fault the reviewer for giving MP3 lower scores?

The 360 and the PS3 are capable of quality game sounds and the poor Wii is just outclassed in this department.

Good post russelburrows. Stereo sound makes me want to vomit. As an audiophile (in the headphone department) I know exactly where your coming from. The saound is just flat and shallow. On e game's sound that really, realy suprised me was BioShock's. The ambient noise is just beyond words. It is soo immersive. After the first 5 hours of BioShock (all in one sitting biatch), when I was done I still felt like I was in Rapture for about 15 minutes. That is just not possible on the Wii. And I didn't even mention the graphics that are on par with Gears. Uncle_Uzi

For me its all about the inmersive sounds in a game and boy does Bioshock deliver as its quality and still more quality.

In Rapture that sound of dripping water that tells you that any second and the entire dome can collapse just to mention a single effect since everything is spot on with the ambiance and the delivered quality of the sounds.

I got the must have good sound urge from when I used to compete in car audio and it really surprises me when I see folks purchasing those miniature speaker cubes from Bose and expecting good sound.

Any 360 or PS3 game that has good sound and medium gameplay beats medium gameplay and terrible sound from most Wii games.

The best part of today is a Wii sheep left Gamestop with my Wii copy of Strikers and I got a brand new Bioshock.

So its back to 360 great sound plus great gameplay plus great graphics as we head back to Rapture.

I make my own speaker cabinets from cedarwood so the sound of a game is critical to me since the piston area of my 7 mains and four 12 inch subs is very good as compared to the tiny speakers I notice most folks use.

And the sound I notice in most Wii games is showing that Game Developers for the most part are going for subpar results.

And in a few cases I noticed stereo sound? stereo sound! with a few Wii games even doing the outrage of having true monophonic sound coming from left and right main speakers!

Is it any wonder why I prefer 360 and PS3 game sounds/music versus the mediocre sound from Wii games.

That is why the Wii falls short.

you're still acting like the wii having mostly bad games is something unique to the wii.

Developers on other systems try the best that they can as the focus is on quality and so most games end up being either good, very good or at least average with few being rated bad.The majority end up being tolerable since most developers at least try to make an acceptable game.

Versus the exact INVERSE thing going on with the Wii.

Development for games on the Wii is no longer quality focused as the focus has now shifted to bring in new folks and make a quick buck; so YES! the Wii having mostly bad games is unique to the Wii.The majority end up being bad games since the workframe is low budget/low quality/low talent for the majority of Wii games since Wii developers are focusing on slap it together and ship it quick regardless of low quality issues. This is a unique problem that is console specific to the Wii since the other two consoles do not have this mentality of ship it however, ese and lets make some quick cash as the only focus for making games.

that's interesting. shouldn't you be saying that it's the wii loyalist's who are ruining gaming by buying those so called "bad games"?

The nature of the Nintendo Loyalists is to do as Nintendo shows them and so they go and convince casual gamers to buy a Wii and being uninformed casuals they buy whatever is at hand. The cheap and low quality games being whats most prevalent in the Wii mix.The Loyalists got the casuals to buy cheap games and then later those same Loyalists complain there are few Wii games worth playing. Nintendo is ruining quality game production by showing developers that there is a quick buck to be made.

when a cheap game can be better than expensive game, costs really don't matter. talent is more important than budget. yes. i keep seeing you say that the majority of wii games are bad but so what? so are most games for most systems. why are you ignoring those?

CaseyWegner

Most games for most systems are average, good or very good with a small minority being bad.On the Wii its the reverse with the majority of games being bad and terrible and a small percentage of Wii games being good and thats what is killing quality games as an industry as the idea grows more and more pervasive for Wii developers that why bother with quality when Wii Loyalists will buy anything.Talent is budget since as a general rule if there is no money then there is going to be a distinct lack of talent in any service or product since most talented workers are going to give you the buzzoff when being told they can work twice as hard for half the pay.
