So is rumble, and how did that turn out?

In the days of monophonic TV. sound rumble was needed for extending the in-game experience.

In todays world its subwoofers that killed the need for rumble as in my house its four Velodyne 12 inch subwoofers in custom enclosures versus rumble means who needs rumble?

Times change, ese.

Drop it Russle, you are as bad at repeating crap as foamingpanda... and don't make me do to you what I had to do with him. Yes, it involved chainsaws, a typewriter, and a whole lot of elbow grease.

A threat from a Bagdad commando is no threat.

As far as the Wii it produces a substandard offering in the sound department and there no excuse for bad art just like its no excuse going to another movie theater to see the same movie and getting bad sound.

Toss in substandard offerings from the rest of the wii and its only good for minigames for those who are unable to visit a gym since its not up to snuff in the other areas such as a proper mix of mostly good games versus the reality of mostly bad games.

Haha, you say shooters will never work on the Wii? Go actually READ the MP3 review, it got an award for controls. And Mario Galaxy is apsolutley nothing like Mario Sunshine; But I don't think you would know that because it seems as if you bash the Wii yet you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

I don't know why I even respond to threads like this though.

Pro-Logic sound from Wii sucks versus Dolby Digital 5.1 sound from 360 games like Bioshock and PS3 Resistance .

I'm sure the Wii will get AAA games, all through it's console life. I think reviewers take the Wii for what it is. You don't see them giving DS and PSP games lower scores because their hardware can't compete with a console...

iunderstand

They are NOT AAA games since they have defective as in substandard sound and the Wii games are still defective even if reviewers gloss the sound quality result as un-important.

Notice where it says : SOUND

Wow, are you actually serious? The PC is always going to provide better quality than any console, that doesn't mean you can't create a fantastic game on a game console.

Where did I say PC? No place, the post was about comparing three home consoles with one of them providing substandard sound as compared to the other two home consoles.Any lower quality experience is a defect that detracts from the experience. If it sounds bad it is bad regardless if its a Wi or a 360 or a PS3.

Post directed to Mr. CaseyWegner:

I sometimes wonder if all game reviewers either are partialy deaf or else play all games on a monophonic single speaker setup?

I think that todays standard being Dolby Digital 5.1 sound for movies and games needs to addressed in game reviews for home consoles as a game perfect in every aspect with Dolby Digital 5.1 is NOT the same enjoyable experience if the sound is only Pro-Logic and the prospective purchasing gamer needs to be told. And game reviewers and game reviews need to address this point as quality sound in a game adds to the experience and bland or limited sound as in Pro-Logic DETRACTS from the experience. Therefore a game perfect in every way whose creators decide to slack off in the quality of the sound delivered to the gamer either due to Developer considerations or home console considerations is disrespectfull to the gamer expecting the best posible experience from that game.

I find it astounding that reviewers fail to consider that most gamers have a home theater setup and going from the excellent sound effects in 360 Bioshock or PS3 Resistance and then being forced to endure Wii Pro-Logic sound is a distinct flaw that is detrimental to any game or movie experience.

With todays Next-Gen now being this gen its a standard that a AAA game have no defects.Todays sound standard for good sounding game effects and good sounding game ambiance and good sounding game music is Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. The same as todays movies are also in Dolby Digital 5.1. for good sound as the standard.

A quality game has good controls, good gameplay, good graphics and last but not least is has good audio. An experience like this is available both on the 360 and the PS3.The problem is that once you get used to the standard Dolby Digital sound in a AAA game you then notice its LACK as a glaring defect.

The problem for the Wii is that even if the software developers do the best job thats humanly possible on that console its still going to fall short versus the experience on the 360 and the PS3.The problem is Wii hardware based as it can only output Pro-Logic sound and this is a step DOWN from todays standard.

Listen to the effects and sound ambiance of a 360 game like Bioshock or a PS3 game like Resistance in Dolby Digital 5.1 and then go play a Wii game and the changeover is a letdown the same as listening to your favorite action movie in Dolby Digital 5.1 and then being told to listen to that movie in Pro-Logic.

Thats why NO WII games deserve AAA or ten status since the sound output is LESS quality that what is standard nowdays on home consoles.

The best that a Wii game can hope for is AA or nine status since the Wii substandard audio is a distraction that reduces the enjoyment to be obtained when a comparison is done with other offerings from the 360 or PS3.

Pauses Warhawk to rest hands a bit.

Reads post and looks out window to see that since the sun is rising then that means that I have played Warhawk all night when the idea was just to play for an hour or two. Gee folks take one guess whos going to blowoff going in to work today in favor of playing Warhawk for a few more hours and then a few more hours and then a few more hours and..............well you get the picture.

Goes back to playing Warhawk.

The Ps3 and the 360 are capable of quality sound and the poor Wii is just outclassed in this department.

What really ticks me off is after listening to the excellent ingame sounds of Resistance and the Bioshock is the BAD Wii sound production values in most Wii games.

The Wii gets my hate! due to playing a wii game a week ago and the sound coming from my mains left and right was stereo? stereo! yuck! . and the major outrage so far was monophonic sound(Third party trash!) being emited from both left and right mains speaker drivers.

The sound on the Wii sucks!

Bad graphics.

No movie playback.

No storage for any four gig. heavy metal comics.
