If home is where the heart is...

...then I'm still 1007 miles away...but if you have a different definition of home, than that's exactly where I'm at right now :P Anyway, Ocean City was pretty awesome. My mom's cousin's condo was just a few blocks from the beach, and the amazing (and incredibly crowded) board walk. My sister's dance team one everything at the competition...as usual. Parasailing is pretty fun....more relaxing than I expected it to be. 800 feet is higher than I thought: our condo...Never expected mom's cousin to have a big Sony HDTV: The view from our balcony...boat traffic jams every day...I saw one get pulled over for some reason: Just as painful as it looks: Aww : Another amazing week...

A blog from the road

I'm currently sitting in a hotel room in Rocky Mount North Carolina. We drove ten hours today (I drove 3.5 of them)...only five more tomorrow! ...I managed to snag the new Living End album before I left this morning...It's freakin' fantastic I guess that's all for now...I'll see you next week GS (though I guess said that last night :P )

The trip

Saturday: get in the car (we're taking my grandma's Buick 8) ) and drive for ten hours, find a hotel to sleep at (I wish we could just drive straight there, but my mom doesn't want to leave early enough  ) Sunday: drive the remaining five hours to Baltimore, stay at my mom's rich, chocolate factory owning cousin's house. Monday: Pick Caity up at the airport :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D and then drive two hours to my mom's rich, chocolate factory owning cousin's CONDO ON THE BEACH in Ocean City where we'll be staying for the week. I'll see you next week GS :)

I think I almost got scammed today

as I was walking out of the local grocery store today two guys in a black SUV pulled up next to me and asked "hey, this is gonna sound weird, but do you want some speakers?" They proceeded to pull in to the parking space next to me and opened the back of their vehicle to reveal five home theater systems. They explained how they were only supposed to have three, and they needed to get rid of two of them before their boss found out they made a mistake. they pulled out a magazine that I've never heard of and pointed out that the system they had sells for $3000. I had never heard of the brand before (I can't remember what it was...it starts with a "D") They offered it to me for $400, and I refused. They eventually went as low as $150, but at that point, I was getting pretty annoyed, so I got in my car and came home. If you ask me this has "Scam" written all over it. :P In other Rye-related news, We're leaving for Maryland in a few days for my sister's last dance competition, and I'll be spending the week with my girl  Also, I don't know if any of you have gone 30 miles on a bicycle before, but let me tell you, if you ever do, your ass is gonna be in pain the next day

FREAK SHOW!!!!! (our first song is finished)

well, pretty much finished anyway. We still need to record Joe's trombone part, but here's what you've all been waiting for: http://media.putfile.com/Freak-Show-Demo There's gonna be a trombone part over my rather sloppy bass intro, and over the little breakdown around the 1 minute mark, but you get the idea :) Lyrics: tired of someone tellin' me how to live the dream I tell them "happiness isn't always what it seems" lie to us about what we've got to do and soon we'll believe it's true work in the hot sun ten hours a day what must I do to get my pay? fooled into thinking I'm makin' a dime but really, I'm wastin' my time holdin' the sign but I still don't know which way to go I feel like I'm in a freak show me and the bearded lady stand here confused starin' at the ringleader we know we're bein' used he makes a dollar while the people point and laugh but the money keeps us comin' back forget what you've heard I'm tired of bein' told lie to me all you want but my time wont be sold I've got my destination, but I don't know where to go I've got to get out of this show brainwashed by the system how do we say no I've got to find a way to escape the freak show they don't think about what they're doin' wrong you may be skrewed up but the show must go on should we be grateful for minimum wage? feeding us through the bars of our cage me and the bearded lady stand here confused starin' at the ringleader we know we're bein' used he makes a dollar while the people point and laugh but the money keeps us comin' back me and the bearded lady standin' here confused starin' at the ringleader we know we're bein' used he makes a dollar while the people point and laugh but the money keeps us comin' back And a special thanks to our good friend Adam for his whistling :P

An update for those of you following our little recording adventure

Our ideas are coming together quite well. Joe basically blew everyones mind with the lyrics he wrote for our first song (the one that I posted a very VERY rough version of in my last blog post) now known as "Freak show" bonus tracks that MIGHT end up on the "Freak show" single include a ridiculous techno song that Adrian wrote on his recent month long sea voyage (we're debating recording a version with real instruments, or using the synth effects on garageband) as well as covers of Bob Marley's "Stir it up" and The Ramones "Blitzkrieg Bop" ...though these all depend on how "Freak show" turns out. Recording begins tomorrow! :D and here's some rough album art I threw together a few minutes ago: Currently listening to:

Our first attempt at recording....and some embarrassing pictures of my friends

Ok...here's our first attempt at recording. To be honest, I should probably wait until we actually TRY to record a real song...this is just us testing our recording equipment...but I think it sounds good, so I'm gonna post it :P http://media.putfile.com/Our-first-attempt-at-recording Credits: Joe: Composer, Guitar, Trombone, pirate Adrian: Drums, criminal mastermind Rye: Bass, Shirtlessness Currently listening to:

Our first hit single

I finally got around to figuring out how to use garage band on my MacBook today, and Joe and I managed to record part of a song that he's been working on for a while...and by "part of a song" I mean 15 seconds...and by "working on for a while" I mean the last two days  So I guess it's pretty far from a "hit single" but I'm honestly pretty surprised by how good the recording quality is. Hopefully Joe will get the lyrics written tonight, and we'll figure out a way to record drums tomorrow...and record the rest of the guitar and bass parts...and maybe throw in a kickass ukulele solo, and then I'll post it here :) Currently listening to:

I don't like coming up with blog titles...

...so I wont :P - I got hit by lightning a few days ago...it was awesome  - My best friend Joe is back from his month long sea voyage :D - my phone bill from last month was outrageous  - I haven't really been playing any games lately :( - Disney World called my house yesterday and asked if I wanted to come in to lifeguard...I guess they forgot that I quit that job months ago  - My sister has a dance competition in Maryland at the end of the month...I'll be driving up there with my family, and meeting a special someone along the way  Currently listening to:
