actually that is true on identical software only, simply because it is usually developed on xbox 360 then ported to PS3. If it was built from ground up on PS3 then ported to 360, it would be a difference. I also have the 360 and PS3. games that are system exclusive ips, when compared, sony exclusives are graphically superior to those on 360. But that doesn't mean anything if there isn't a great story or gameplay to back the visuals. I mean truthfully, even though people still will buy it, but who honestly wants to look at a shiny hot steaming pile of crap. no matter how much you gloss it, it still STINKS!!! Am I right? 360 runs the identical games better, due to them being developed for that system, and then ported to ps3. thats why its all about the 1st party exclusives, they are the tell tale story of a console. SO GAME ON!!! add me on psn and xbox live : Litebringer75 (Personally, sony does know how to make some exclusives, just saying!!!)
@Shengali the activation codes he is speaking of are for online play. Remember how on the current PS3 and Xbox360, for certain games you have to buy an online pass activation code to play it online. Thats what they are referring to. And that is what is up to the publishers, just like it is this current gen.
@davsonamission you are absolutely right!!! Did you know Sony is giving out free money: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/20/playstation-is-giving-out-free-money
Greetings Everyone!!! Sony is giving out free money!!! Go check your PSN accounts! I just received a free $10 voucher for the playstation store. The information is on ign about this. Thanks, and lets hope for an amazing reveal today. God bless.
I agree that nothing in life is impossible. And noone thought they would ever see sonic in a game with mario, but it did happen. But you and I both must agree its highly unlikely with these 3 console makers now, because its different this time. Nintendo, and sega were in the same city, from the same country. Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, are in a war east vs west, in all likelihood, you would see nintendo and sony combine, before joining with microsoft.
That being said, the way a thing like, a 1st party ip landing on a competitors console would happen, if that console maker just resorted to be a software maker. But I honestly believe that if anyone in these console wars went software only, they would just send their games to pc, which keeps their console competitors from truthful winning on their expense. But it would also deepen their pockets, as its not as expensive to develop for pc, than it is consoles.
one more thing to add, when something that was on an older console, gets released to a smartphone or tablet, the original ip owners gets HUGE royalties, as there is no middle man to pay out a huge tab to. Its different when it comes to consoles, if sony placed, say uncharted on a microsoft console, yes sony would make money, but microsoft would as well, do you honestly think sony wants its main competition in these console wars to profit off of there ips they spent millions into? that would be a lost to their overall revenue. they aren't trying to help microsoft or nintendo, they are in the game to BEAT them!
This uncharted title is actually a card game for the PS Vita. I posted the link in a comment above. But, in reference to your comments, FF VII was not owned by sony, its a (at the time) Squaresoft property, that was just made a console exclusive to the PSX. Just like the original crash and spyro were, in those days naughty dog wasn't a sony owned company like they are now. Valkyria Chronicles is a sega ip, that just happens to land almost always on a sony system. There is a difference like @welverin said, when a company actually owns the ip, the likeliness it lands on anoth console other than its own, is ludicrous.
Point being, look at halo 4, bungie is the original developer, they are developing for activision now, but halo is still with the ip owner, microsoft. Even though some halo games get released on pc, you must also remember that microsoft was 1st most a pc company, so this would be a naturaly occurence for some of their games. In the console war that is waging, ownership of 1st party ip is the difference maker in system ownership, if you could get the same games for both system, it would eventually make one of them obsolete.
