[QUOTE="DragonfireXZ95"]It has more influence than I'd like, but American people don't really venture outside the box too often. I can't even count how many times I'd talk about Stalker or The Witcher 2 to someone new I met and they had no idea what I was talking about. Even some PC gamers I met don't know about them, they only knew about counterstrike and Starcraft.mems_1224
thats more because most people aren't hardcore into pc gaming. i would love to play witcher 2 and a bunch of other pc games. im retarded though and dont know how to build a computer, dont want to spend the time building one and i dont want to spend thousands on a crappy alienware computer. i mean i want to get into pc gaming, i really do, but for most people like me it just seems like too much of a hassle

Take some of the free time you spend here, and instead focus it on learning to build a PC.

It literally took me about an hour to learn how to build my first one, and then I ordered some PC parts and within a week I had build my own gaming computer.

There are probably a billion tutorials on the web that will tell you what key things to look for to match compatible hardware together.

Tribes Ascend and Blade & Soul would be my only reasons for getting into PC gaming. Those games look pretty awesome.

Tikeio

Blade & Soul huh?

Lemme tell you a lil bit about Korean MMOs

They suck :D

There are about one or two billion of them, and they all suck.

Looks good to me. Different strokes.

They always do :P

I'm a hardened Korean MMO veteran. I've seen hell.

Do you guys know of any good but cheap keyboards/monitors? I have been using a laptop for a while so I wouldn't have any of those.

Yangire

Linking is apparently broken even with using my own HTML. Sorry about that.

Monitor

Keyboard

There are cheaper monitors, but that one has a max resolution of 1920x1080 whereas cheaper monitors start sacrificing that (which would pretty much nullify the hardware you're putting in the computer)

[QUOTE="lowe0"] Okay, if you're asserting that having an option is better, how much better is it? Does that vary from person to person?lowe0

Put it this way. If you are going out for a great meal and every single restaurant in the city is open to you now matter how exclusive or expensive isn't that better to have that choice than to only have say 5 restaurants in the whole city open to you?

For me having mods is crucail because after a game is done and replayed numerous times I have the mod options to change things around and play the game again from a different perspective. I know Skyrim wouldn't be half as appealing if I didn't think you could mod it.

Suppose you're a vegetarian, then. Of your list of restaurants, what value are the steakhouses adding?

That's not a very good analogy.

How does the difference between playing a game like Skyrim on 360, or on the PC, share any similarities between being a vegetarian, or not?

It's more like both parties are eating the same exact food, but one has more options on where to eat it, and how to eat it.

Hey Mitu/other PC people, does this buid look good?

Intel i5-2400
8GB Kingston HyperX
ASRock H61M/U3S3
MSI Twin Frozr II HD 6870 1GB
Seagate Barracuda 500GB
Corsair CX-500
Fractal Design Define Mini
ASUS DVD Burner
Arctic Cooling ACALP64 Pro CPU Cooler

Also, do you think it could run a game well with these requirements?

OS - Windows 7 / Vista
CPU - Intel Core i5 or AMD Athlon Phenom X4 or faster
GPU - Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 5770, shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM, or faster
RAM - 2 GB
HDD - 15 GB free space
DVD - Dual Layer compatible
DirectX® - 10/11

I didn't forget the OS, I just didn't add it in.

Calvin079

That looks very good to me.

His Hard Drive and RAM are quite small.

He'll get a 500gb hdd and 8gb of ram.

The game he wants to play requires 2gb of ram, and 15gb of space.

Microsoft owns Yahoo. It's not really a surprise that they are using it as a base for mudslinging.

Posting articles saying that the Vita is likely to fail can prompt customers to not buy the Vita. It's dirty but eh, that's business. If Sony owned Yahoo, I bet they would be doing the same thing to MS products.

Also, lol at PS3 being one of the worst gaming controllers... just wow.

whiskeystrike

I believe they were talking more about the Six Axis implimentation used in Lair.

And Microsoft does not own Yahoo.

Ivy bridge is just around the corner. You would be better off perhaps waiting a couple more months.

Ivy Bridge is said to be 20% faster.

Unless it's right there (I don't know the release) then that mindset is not a good one to have.

It's not a very good thing to worry about future releases of hardware otherwise you get caught in a constant loop of never buying anything because "the new" is coming out.

The computer build he posted is, a rough guesstimate, 30-40% more powerful than mine, and mine plays Crysis on medium at around 30-40fps.

Unless he actually intends on busting out those kinds of games then what he's building will be fine for 100% of games out now. And when the time comes 3-4 years from now (if he needs to upgrade) then he can buy something 8x as good as the Ivy Bridge.

Answer - Yes it could

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Statement - Your case is expensive
Also I can't imagine that CPU fan is going to be better than the one that comes with your processor (assuming you're buying a boxed 2400, and not an OEM 2400)
