i think mircosoft should have redesign the console have it late a practically trouble free then early and with some troubles and one thing i dont get are people geting one 360 breaking down contantly or geting a new one breaking down , and another thing why is it some people have sent their consoles to ms x times and some none

killerkool07

Ahh, there in lies the problem. Was MS really trying to get a one year jump with a sub-par system or did they put their best effort into the system (forget the games, I'm strictly speaking about hardware). On the other hand, how much of it could have been user error. Meaning, placing the console in a cabinet without proper ventilation or installing a third party fan that actually contributed to the problem?
I do agree with some of the others who have stated that MS did the right thing by extending warranties and reimbursing others. To be honest, it's all a company can do. Aside from a major redesign. Some have stated that MS should give them a new machine, and that would be cool. If it were ever to happen me, I wouldn't mind just getting mine repaired properly. I just wouldn't tolerate repeated offenses (and that goes for any product I own).

emelson1976, wingman15 and cecx, you all make valid points that I tend to agree with. Being that your experiences with MS have been positive ones that is indeed a good reason for your consistent support. Thanks for your solid and positive inputs.

Lanezy, thanks for th heads up. I would probably take bullet for my Mac as well.

No because mine has not broken. And you make it sound like the 360 is the first console to have hardware failures. Regardless of how you feel about MS or the 360, you have to admit that if people are buying 2nd, 3rd, even 4th consoles then MS did something right.capthavic

If you bothered to look somewhere on page three, I did state that other consoles also have problems. Problem is, you read what you want to read. In all honesty, If I had to re-buy a system for a third and fourth time due to poor build quality, I wouldn't, that's just insane.
To their credit MS has done (and is doing) something to rectify the situation. I know of a lot of would be first time buyers who are hesitant in purchasing a 360 until they are fully confident that most if not all of the major issues have been fixed.

The first Halo will always hold a special place in my heart as well as my shelf. It is the game that stated it all and sold a million xboxes (give or take a few). Control, music and effects are some of the best I've ever seen. It is also a game which so far has aged well. The second was great for it's multiplayer, but the first is the one I love most.

so, thats all you've got topic creator? If thats your complaint....well, i've still got my launch 360.

question: how many people bought more than 1 PS2 in its lifetime due to disc driver problems? I know i bought 2...but i loved the console and supported it.

chex81

No, it's not a complaint, It's a topic. It's nice that your launch 360 is working well for you. Still, there are many that have not been so fortunate as you. As I stated earlier, my launch xbox (original) still gets used today even with the thompson drive that reportedly gave it problems.
Since you brought it up, My 5 year old PS2 has never given me a problem as well and it is still hooked up to. I still favor my Xbox over all my past gen systems. It gave me the best overall gaming experience. As for my 360, I love the much improved interface of live. I love the design and most of all love the controller. It's a nice system, but truth be told it has give many gamers problems. Are you to deny this or will you call those people with legitimate gripes liars?
Funny thing is that I got a lot of flak for buying the Halo 3 xbox by other xbox users and now I get reamed for asking a question that was not slanderous or disrespectful, but honest. I mean seriously, there is a whole thread here dedicated to the broken xbox. All, I asked is who was unhappy and why such loyalty. Some of your fellow gamers were kind enough to post their dissatisfaction, are they wrong as well.

dude your facts are wrong. Sony is losing more then a Billion dollars in their game division, they are in the red, unlike MS which they finally achieved by going in the blackzone. Their 360 made them some profits. But nintendo, making more money then both MS and Sony combined.

As printed in OXM 10/2007 page 61"Between extending the warranty to unprecedented lengths and reimbursing owners who paid out of pocket to have their red-ringed consoles repaired, Microsoft says the soluion to the problem will cost them well over a billion dollars".
I stand corrected, billion instead of billions. It's no secret that hardware loses money on production, but I'm speaking about quality control.

Ohh schlemer, soon you will learn that if your post doesn't consist of "360 RULZ" material on this forum,
[QUOTE="pinionxl"]console that breaks down with lots of good games > console that doesn't break down with very few good games No need for a wall o' text, it's as simple as that.Alpha172
For the moment, yep.

Ok, so you are not angry with MS for creating a system that is publicly known for having an issue. That's pretty much what I wanted to know, Thanks.
For the others who got defensive, lighten up. If you notice, I did everything I could not to make this into a console war. I stated opinion and asked a question, nothing more. Some got offended and decided to bring (bash) other systems. I never said that I hated the 360 or do not support it. I like playing Devil's advocate once in a while. Maybe this is the reason that In my six year membership to gamspot my post count is so very low. Anyway, happy gaming guys.

Because its the best system out there. As for your Red Ring argument, buy a $5 desk fan and put it behind your 360. Set said fan on high to cool the system and leave the fan on while playing. You know how air conditioning cools you off when your hot? Yeah its kind of like that.MuscleCarMan

I actually use a laptop twin fan under the 360. Problem is, it connects through the usb port. Will that be an issue for the power pack? I also have it open and on top of a monitor stand that is perforated. It doesn't get abnormally hot.
By the way, I wanted to thank the guys who gave constructive answers. I did read them and appreciated the feedback.

you are realy just trying to create controversy where none is needed.  trying to stir up a response and make people question why the bought and support a 360/microsoft is a definite flame.  please refrain from this crap in the future.ibanezdropd

No, I'm creating conversation, and yes "I am trying to stir up a response". No, I am not trying to make poeple "question why they bought and support a 360/microsoft". No, it's not a flame, it is a question. By the way are you an internet Narc? Get outta here with the "Please refrain" statement.

Well if loyalty under fire is the topic here then I want to ask what exactly you were smoking when you reviewed Lair as an 8.0 Few people can really argue how tremendously awful that game is but you will do anything to support your PS3. Including trolling the 360 board pretending to make an unbiased point when every game you reviewed is a PS3 game.

Where does your loyalty come from? Your PS3 may never break, but apparently it does not play good games either so it really does not matter. I would enjoy myself more playing XBLA then the games you reviewed for PS3 or any PS3 games out for that matter. Don't criticize 360 owners for being loyal when the obvious truth is that YOUR loyalty to SONY is based on experiences you had on the PS2 and not on what is going on right now. 360 cost less, delivers better graphics, has more and better games. The only thing PS3 really offers is blu-ray. The way I feel about that is if blu-ray wins then I wait for a 100 dollar player and buy that because I don't want to watch movies on my gaming system. I never have because it causes them to wear more quickly.

For forty bucks I got a product replacement plan for the 360 from Best Buy. So that meant I got the red ring, brought the system in and was immediately given a brand new box. Easy. I would have bought that PRP whether this was an issue or not.

Again, I'm not debating, flaming, or badmouthing anything. Also, if you happen to look. I've been around the boards for quite a long time. I just don't post a lot. When I do, I try to be relevant. Also, I really don't need to justify why I like a game that other's dislike or feel inferior. There are plenty who hate Halo and think it's just another shooter. Me, I've be a fan of Bungie through the Marthon trilogy, Myth series and Halo series. I love my original Xbox, Xbox halo edition as well as my Halo 360 edition. Sorry that my busy family life doesn't allow me to post as much as I would like to. If it makes you feel any better, My 360 versions of GRAW 1&2, Lost Planet, Shadowrun, NHL08, Call of Duty 3, PGR 3&4, Forza 2, Gears of War and Quake 4 are all very special to me. So with about $1500 invested (including system,HDDVD player and accessories) in the 360 I don't feel that I'm being bias. You really need to find out the facts before accusing anyone.
As for my PS3, I never once mentioned it, you did.For the record, I like that system and it's games as well, no shame in that. What constitutes for good games are a matter of opinion. I've also have been a Mac user for 21 years, so If anyone should have any contempt for MS. It should be me, but I don't.
So are you saying that I can't ask a question regarding a system's issue without bruising your ego? Are you saying that there is no issue at all and I don't have the right to ask any question because I've offended you? Look, I love reading these boards and find some really good topics, but as for trolling. Brother, I'm 40 and a father of two, I don't troll. I converse, debate and bring up points both negative and positive. What I don't do is attack, but I will defend.
