Let me get this straight? You're xbox is working fine, but you're still pissed at MS? Geez, at least wait for it to break first. I bought mine used, and it works great. If it breaks, I'll buy another one. It's got nothing to do with loyalty. I'm a gamer, and the games are on the 360, period. I'm no longer Nintendo's target customer. They aren't even trying to sell the wii to people like me. As for Sony...they've completely abandoned the strategies that made the PS1 and PS2 successful. There is no reason to buy a PS3 unless you want a bluray player. When PS3 gets enough games to justy the purchase, I'll pick one up.

MS made a mistake and they've extended the warrentee. What else do you want from them? Besides that one issue, MS has doneeverything togive the gamer whathe/she wants. I'm am their target customer, and they are doing a fantastic job of earning my business.

No, I'm not really pissed at MS. I just wanted to spark off some good conversation. Not every thread should be a "rate my game collection" or "What game should I buy next?" or "my console is better than yours". As for loyalty, sure you are loyal. Don't fool yourself. You are loyal to the platform that appeals to you most. The statement of "I'm a gamer" is so over used, it's cliche'. Anyone who picks up any type of system be it a PC or a console in order to play games, is a gamer.
Also, if you feel that the other consoles don't do it for you anymore, that's cool. There is no debate here on that issue.
As for the mistake that MS made that has not affected me as of yet (or may never will). It has affected many others. I just simply wanted to ask why a loyalty (or support of a better choice of word) to a console that has a well known issue. I have read (whether true, yet remains to be seen) of 360 owners sending back their consoles back as high as nine times. If this were to be true, then why still go through the trouble of sending it time and time again for repairs. That's all.

Electronics aren't meant to last forever. They all stop working eventually. It would be great if all we ever had to buy was one tv, one microwave, one washing machine, one dish washer, one games console, and they never brake down and we never have to replace them.

Try calling the manufacturer of your refrigerator after you've had it for three years and tell them it's stopped working and you want it fixed for free. See how far you get.

Yeah, but most refrigerators, microwaves, washing machines, and TVs don't crap out within 1-2 years of it's lifespan. Actually, they last a long time.

I hate that excuse - "electronics aren't meant to last forever." We know that, but the Xbox 360 failure rate far exceeds any one of those products and is unacceptably high.

True, but a premium, electronic device (any) should last more than a year. Don't you think?  My son plays with his launch gamecube and N64 every day without a hitch (and I do mean every friggin' day). Also, the failure rate seems to be on the high side, from what I've read on various forums and real life people I associate with.

k where does this go thenfaceman420

Your fine here, don't listen to the first two guys. You asked a legitimate question and others want to make it into a system war topic because you happen to mention the other consoles.
I feel the same way you do, but I still had to have Halo and my 360 is a good system. I do however think about the reported failure rates. Some will say that it's exaggerated. If it was, then MS would not have gone public with the issue and extended their warranty. Personally, you could do one of two things. A. keep the 360 and just rent the games or B. sell it and keep the "other" system if it makes you happy.

No argument on the PS2's quality issues, I just want this to remain solely an Xbox 360 discussion. This is why I did not post on the systems wars thread, nor did I mention any other system.

I understand that the 360 platform has some really stellar games and a really great online service. However, I can't help but notice the abundance of gamers who have had their 360's sent in for repairs. Some have even gone as far as purchasing a second 360 in order to play games while the other is out on repairs. Honestly, twice in a year may be my limit (twice in 5 years would be spectacular). So far my 360 is only two months old and I'm a casual gamer, but I do expect at one time or another to be hit with the red ring of death.

I can not believe that my launch Xbox with the dreaded Thompson drive has performed faithfully and still does today without ever needing not even one repair and it serves as my daily living room dvd player for my kids. It also gets occasional game time. Then why, would the next (and supposed, better) system be inferior in regards to quality control. Also, why do so many support it without getting angry with MicroSoft. I understand that they did a stand up thing by extending the warranty to 3 years (in regards to the rrd issue only), but that is not enough. The redesign should have been done within the first year. Why were the loyal, early adopters as well as the most recent buyers hit with such an incredible inconvenience? Honestly, MicroSoft shot itself in the foot and would not have had to loose billions if they had taken he time in getting the design of the 360 right the first time.

Anyone else really annoyed with MS about their wonderful yet faulty piece of hardware?

Does anyone know if this is a limited edition deal or is this going to be another version of the xbox 360? The reason I ask is because im tired of sending out my xbox to microsoft so im buying another one while my old one is getting fixed (for the sixth time). I figure if i buy this edition and get a warranty at best buy then i can just exchange this one right off the bat instead of waiting a month or so...... thanks!!!!

To answer your question, the Halo 3 Special Edition is a limited edition. Once the supply is gone, that should be it. So unless best buy has ample stock, you may be left getting the classic white box or if your lucky they may spot you the elite (stranger things have happened)

Picked up my copy of Conan today for the PS3. I have to honestly say that I was wrong about this game. I am really enjoying it. So far the only glitch that I've encountered was the loss of voice during the cut scenes. Fortunately it was the part on which the demo is based, so I've heard it several times. I simply turned on the CC and after awhile the voice came back. The meat of the game is ACTION!ACTION!ACTION! and ACTION! it delivers. I am playing it on normal and it is quite fun. Brawn, Boobs, and Blood is what the game offers and it so far delivers nicely. Graphics are fine by my standards, but more importantly, gameplay is tight.
I won't get into any details. I like to let you guys enjoy it on your own. So far I am very pleased with this barbarian title. As for it's similarity to God of War, who cares. This is how a genre is formed.

I also got a neat Conan figurine with my pre-order, pretty cool.

In all honesty, if this situation happend the way you claim it did. Then you should have called for a manager without hesitation. Even if you chose to not make a purchase, management should have been made aware. There is no place for that kind of BS.
By the way, I'm a white hispanic and one of the funniest thing to happend in my precence was a reverse racial profile. One time three of my friends and I were at a Comp USA in NY. Two were dark hispanics, myself and my pale white, red haired, irish friend. My spanish speaking buddies and I couldn't keep from laughing hard when we caught the undercover security following my white friend. Talk about turn about... LOL.

I find it funny how so many are loyal to a company who produces a great platform but a mediocre machine, yet complain about a well made machine (for the moment) made by a company that has proven itself for over a decade by making some unforgettable (as well as some that shall remain nameless) games. They'll complain that the 360 is the greatest and will forgive the RRD, but are all over Sony because they removed the rumble feature. They complain about the many sku # the PS3 has, but forget that MS is guilty of the same. So far Nintendo has remained consistent.

I love how just a few months ago the PSP was dead and the DS was king. Fast-foward to a redesign and new bundles and PSP has a heartbeat once again, go figure. Personally, I'd like to give a heart laugh to all those fickle, impatient people who must have traded and re-bought the same system countless of times. It must be nice to be rich ; )

My point is this, You will obviously have the knuckle-heads out there who will spew out my brand is better than your brand garbage. I say let them, they only want to get a rise. Most are annoying little trolls that would never have the guts to say what they type in the real world. My post goes out to those of us (yes, me included) who allow it to get under our skin an feel the need to reply angrily. I say this as a 40 year old dad who has been through the mac vs pc, sega vs nintendo vs ps, ms vs ps wars and honestly, it's quite silly. To some it may be fun (even funny) but what happens is that after a while it ultimately brakes down into an insult contest. People get personal on something that is supposed to be fun. By the way, this also happens on car and gun forums just the same. So this is not an age issue.

Anyway, have fun. Also, for those who can only have one system, enjoy what you have to the fullest. Believe it or not, there are those who don't even have a clue what a PS3/Xbox360/Wii is. They are just wondering where their next meal is coming from.

Enjoy being fortunate,
