Scianix-Black Blog

New Xbox 360 Slim

Gamertag is KID MIZER.

Playing Dead or Alive 4 and Fable II in anticipation of Fable III.

Also, I no longer care for Enslaved. Has nothing to do with my impressions of the demo, I just have more important things going on in my life now.

Like Fable II.

P.S. This is a late blog.

E3 2010 Retrospective

Lame.

Well, not all of it, but most of it. Just a whole lotta' unoriginality.

Except for one title: Enslaved.

I think this game has surpassed Bayonetta and Grand Theft Auto IV as my most anticipated game of all-time.

It's just absolutely perfect; in terms of design, it has everything I could ever ask for in a video game:

 • Post-apocalyptic setting
 • Vibrant color palette
 • Interesting and emotional characters/character relationships
 • Loosely based off of Journey to the West

The story cinematics and presentation will be top notch, as I expect nothing less from the developers of Heavenly Sword, especially since they're re-recruited Andy Serkis (Lord Bohan, Heavenly Sword; Gollum, The Lord of the Rings). If they do the gameplay right, it could very well be my game of the year, stomping out Bayonetta, which is still near and dear to my heart.

Also, Fallout New Vegas, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Twisted Metal and Portal 2 look great. Only worthwhile happening at E3 was GLADoS' surprise appearance.

I literally screamed, like a little girl.

So yeah... awesome.

This is not a full blog because it's 3 AM and I really don't feeling like typing much since not much has happened anyway.

So I'm going to bed... good night.

Gaming--

I've recently abandoned Fallout 3 for Battlefield BC2. Great multiplayer - much better than Modern Warfare 2, no matter how addictive it was.

Engineer is super fun and the large scale battles aren't as bad as I expected, but the medic really is overpowered when it comes to points. Too many stupid people on this game, too. I think it's because a lot of them are coming from MW2, so they're still in the mindstate where only they matter and that Rambo's way is the only way.

Aside from that, the game is great. Sound design is excellent - probably the best this generation for me. DICE has a really good sound engineering team on their hands. The multiplayer, aside from the medic, is balanced and fair. There are things that I miss from MW2, like killcams, but I can live without them.

Although I will say this: M60 USERS CAN GO DIE IN A FIRE.

That is all.

I'll probably use it too once I unlock it, but I'll stick to demolitions for now.

Just finished:

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu!

Short review: Standard "guy likes popular girl, popular girl likes guy but childhood friend (girl) gets in the way" school-life story. Oh, and summon monster things. Nothing too special about it, otherwise. Somewhat corny attempts at slapstick humor, but some of it is actually chuckle worthy.

-----

Happiness!

Short review: Somehow, the two main characters go from running into each other in the first few episodes to a deep relationship full of tears and kisses in the last episode. This would be ok, but the thing is... where was the relationship development? lol, There was no progression between the two whatsoever throughout the series, forcing the viewer to just "pretend" they got closer.

Story was ok, though... a lot better than some of the other school-life comedy romances I've seen. I definitely didn't see the last "twist" coming, either.

-----

Tokimeki Memorial -Only Love-

Short review: Pacing is off - it bursts out of the gate sprinting, only to lose stamina midway and slow to an almost painstaking crawl, but somehow it still manages to finish strong, if not somewhat abruptly. There's closure though, so I was happy.
I raged when he actually moved away. LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS NEVER WORK.
Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight

Short review: LOL. Just LOL. A slice of life on par with the likes of K-On!.

Everything Else--

So the other day I ordered some pizza from Domino's. Usually we go to a smaller "mom & pop" parlor close by because it's cheaper, but it was raining so I didn't feel like going out to pick it up.

Glad I did, though, because I managed to order a meal that would have normally been $61.54 for $34.40. That's a steal right?

Thanks to this nifty little site here: retailmenot.com

I found a bunch of coupon codes (I ordered the pizza from Domino's website) that I was able to use in combination with the coupons already on Domino's website to knock the order to half its original price. I was pretty stoked.

Just thought I'd share that with my fellow consumers, so happy saving.

After hating Oblivion, who would have thought I would be so addicted to Fallout? There's something about this game that's incredibly.. fun. Oblivion managed to bore me to tears but this game is somehow able to keep itself interesting, and of my three recent purchases, has - surprisingly - become my most played title.

I've also been playing the Episodes from Liberty City DLC for GTAIV, which have renewed my love for this game. I was one of the minority that respected Rockstar for the bold new direction they took the Grand Theft Auto franchise and the new DLC content is nothing short of greatness.

Everything Else--

Been trying to get my licensed renewed lately, but I want to get up early and beat the lines at the DMV and I keep waking up late because I keep staying up playing GTAIV and/or Fallout.

I've been listening to a bunch of 50's swing and jazz because of Fallout.

I changed my desktop wallpaper to that picture of the Brotherhood of Steel guy because of... Fallout.

I haven't been posting very much in the PS3 forum because of Fallout.

I saw Walk the Line on TV the other day and noticed that everyone was wearing Fallout clothes. No explosions, gore or vaults in that movie - was sorely disappointed.

Guess why this blog is so short.

Tune of the Week: Danny Kaye with the Andrew Sisters - Civilization

First thing's first: Bayonetta platinum.

I actually got it like... two weeks ago, but because of my last blog I wasn't able to include the regular updates. Well, it was fun... not really as hard as I had hoped, but it's a platinum. There's still quite a lot left to do beyond platinum, like collecting Tears of Blood and unlocking hidden weapons and the hidden boss, which I hear is super hard, so that'll be fun. I also need to complete the Lost Chapter but I'll get to that eventually...

Just bought these a few days ago:

They should be arriving in a week or so, sooo... woopee.

Recently finished Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, which I liked, and a few others that I can't care to remember. Soon after I started watching Mahoraba, Kaijutsu Oujo and Gun x Sword. GxS is no where within the realm of my tastes - I'm only watching it because my uncle won't shut up about it.

He likes the action-y stuff. He'll skip whole parts of an episode just to get to the fight - all he needs to know is who the bad guy is and who the good guy is. None of the characterization or plot interests him, he just likes the explosions, the transformations, the screaming, the blood, the big swords, the supernatural powers, etc.

Haven't kept up with Durarara! though... sadface. :[

Everything Else--

I've been cooking meals lately. I never really did that before, but it's actually a lot of fun experimenting... been playing around with regular dishes lately. I made Pancit the other day with Shiitake mushrooms and shrimp and it was absolutely horrible, but somehow my mom and uncle loved it. (Shiitake is gross, don't eat that ****.)

They do eat weird food though... anyway, it's been fun playing around with the spices that mom never uses and I think I might have even found a new hobby ...if you can call it that.

Uhh... the Cantonese is coming along swimmingly.. I'm only on chapter 2 after having Rosetta Stone for about a month now because I've been to busy to really sit down and use it, so I'm forced listen to the chapter 1 audio tapes over and over.

Anyway, uhh.... yeah. That's all.

Thanks for reading?

Yeah... reading.. thanks.

Tune of the Week: Creedence Clearwater Revival - Have You Ever Seen the Rain?

The Fall of the Internet & Net Neutrality

ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) - it's not a joke. The internet just got a whole lot colder. Here's what it could do:

The picture itself (not made by me) is old (the treaty is currently in its 9th round of negotiations, in Mexico), but that's pretty much what will happen to the internet if it gets passed. Once this goes up, say goodbye to:

- Youtube (And other user-based sites like it)
- Open Wi-fi (Starbucks, Borders, etc.)
- Any and all user-generated content (Fanart, sheet music/tabs, etc.)

ISPs will be given the right to take down anything "that could potentially be a copyright violation," and since pretty much anything on the internet could fall under that category in one way or another, they could take down whatever they wanted. If anyone were to file a report claiming that something on the internet is violating a copyright, the ISP is required to take it down without further question.

They'll be in control of what we do, what we read and what we say.

lol, Did anyone read that book 1984?

It hasn't reached news stations yet because all these negotiations have been held in secret, which is funny when you consider how much Obama preached about "public involvement" and "transparency." Anyway, I didn't write this so I could argue with someone about politics, because I don't care much for politics as long as they don't interfere too heavily with my life.

Call me crazy, call me whatever you want, but this is most likely going to happen unless people do something about it. I mean, down with piracy! and all that nice jibber jabber, but I'd rather not have my rights violated in the process.

Thought I'd blog about it to spread the word. I'd encourage you to tell others too if you feel so inclined to do so.

It's been a while... hasn't it?

Gaming--

Two trophies away from Bayonetta platinum: I just need to beat it on Infinite Climax mode and then get the rest of the Witches' final resting places. I was disappointed at the platinum initially because I thought it would be easy, but then I found out that one of the trophies was for beating Climax mode, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Uhm... gonna get Battlefield Bad Company 2 sometime soon... not sure when, but soon.

Also, can't decide between Blazblue and Just Cause 2. Which would you get? You pick which I buy. Can't say both.

God damnit, you guys, DURARARA!

Not sure how the name relates to the show, but it's awesome. I'm not one for the overly serious kinds of anime, but this one is really nice. Colorful cast of characters and a main character who's, in comparison to everyone else, weak, but not the pathetic, whiny kind of weak.

More like... realistic weak.

Then he finds out the role he's to play in the recent eve- JUST GO WATCH IT.

Everything Else--

Just recently concluded a week of spending time with some out of town relatives who are now happily back home in Arkansas, so I haven't had much time to do anything, really. Because of that, there's not really much to talk about other than music.

Been finding myself completely falling into deep, deep love electronic dance music. I don't really listen to anything else anymore if it's not made with a drum machine or computer programs. Uplifting Trance, Progressive House, Electro House, Drum and Bass, Techstep, Dubstep, Breakbeat, all of it.

90% of the music on my Zune doesn't have lyrics.

Not sure why, but I guess I'm tired of people's bull****, for lack of a better word. If I'm listening to a song with lyrics, it's always someone b****ing, raging, crying, bragging or just talking about sex, so I tend to listen to artists whose lyrics I don't understand. Lots of foreign stuff.. Korean pop, Japanese pop, Russian rap- oh, speaking of foreign languages, I'm going to be learning Mandarin.

I passed by a kiosk at the mall I took my family to (when they were here) and the guy was selling Rosetta Stone software for like $300 each. I went over, took a look and proceeded to giggle. The guy asked me if I was interested in "broadening my linguistic horizons," and I lost it. Now that I think about it, it's kind of embarrassing, but whatever.

It's hard to believe people still... buy software, but maybe I'm just an ass clown.

So yeah, I'll be getting Rosetta Stone and learning it that way, because I like Chinese history - it's my favorite of all the histories so far, mostly because of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story. I've still got 3 of the 4 Great C|assical Novels to read.

I also want to go to China someday... the cool parts of China. No, not Japan, don't really care for Japan, I want China.

Tune of the Week: Billy Joel - Piano Man

Pytka Hagsnpivign!

Stop reading this and go eat, lol.

And if you've been forced to spend Thanksgiving alone this year, then may Gary Coleman keep you company.

Oh and look! He brought a turkey!

Best of wishes to you. :)

Ok, now go eat.
