ZOO YORK [all day.]

So, school started last Tuesday.

I went to the mall the weekend before to shop for clothes; you know, made my usual rounds, Zumiez, JCPenney's, Footlocker, etc.

And so, I like Zoo York. I'm a graffiti artist and Mark Ecko's alternative line is just nice, I like it. Not many kids rock that stuff. Not many kids know it's by the same guy who did Ecko, either.

So I buy mostly ZY shirts and some Nike SB's and a couple of pants.

And then what happens when I go to school?

Everyone's wearing Zoo York.

What the hell.

Last year it was all about KR3W, and DGK, and all that other stupid crap. Now I can't wear my junk without looking like a tool.

Well, I'd still look like a tool, but whatever..

I think I'll just convert to Shephard Fairey's line...

And don't none of you kids come in here with that "ur a luzr cuz u ware name branz hahahaha lolol0lulzzz" s***.

I don't wear it because of the name, I wear it because it looks nice.

Wal Mart doesn't sell good clothes like that. I checked.

[PURE] Drum & Bass;;

I just played the demo of Pure and I was actually quite impressed. I haven't been persuaded to buy a game because of a demo, but Pure just may be the first.

The one thing that stood out to me though, was its use of Drum & Bass.

PURE, an off road racing game, is using D&B the same way Motorstorm did. Now, I'm not calling foul. I'm just pointing out something that I noticed.

Even more so because the song I heard in the demo was the second song in the Motorstorm: Pacific Rift trailer which debuted in Liepzig this year.

I just thought it was an interesting coincidence. Especially since I haven't heard any D&B in any video games since Midnight Club: DUB Edition and Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

Oh, and interesting fact: The very first game to use Drum & Base inspired (not licensed) music was Ape Escape for the PSx.

By the way, my next blog entry will most likely be about my top 5 video game soundtracks.

So uhh...

Yeah.

Stay tuned.

Warhawk Update 1.5

Yeah, so I just recently updated Warhawk to the 1.5 patch, and it's freakin' good.

I never played Warhawk very much, as it just seemed a bit boring to me, but now I can wreak havoc on people to the bumping tunes of Pendulum, Technical Itch, Evol Intent, Crystal Method, Propellorheads, and Fatboy Slim.

I pretty much only play this game because of custom soundtracks now. I've even got a whole playlist dedicated to Warhawk, which means a lot when it's a game that you never play.

Anyway, it's pretty sweet. I'm also thinking of buying that Falling Star expansion, with the jet packs and the new map.

If you don't have Warhawk, definitely check it out. But a word of caution; if you don't play online, don't waste your time. It's an online only game.

Other than that, it's pretty solid and fun. :]

New Banner..

But I can't see it.

Did it upload right?

Lol, lemme know if you all can see it or not..

EDIT:

Nevermind, there it is.

Metal Gear Solid 4

I finished Metal Gear Solid 4 about a month ago, but didn't get around to typing a blog on it until today.

I played 3, 2, 1 then 4.

I wanted to do things in chronological order.

Anyway, IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. PERIOD.

This game is probably the biggest, most epicly told story I have ever had the privelege to experience in my 17 years of life. I'm sure there are stories out there that may be arguably better, but this takes the cake for being the best of what I've seen, read or played.

He told an epic story of which he completely tied all up in the last installment.

This series is easily the most meaningful of any video game series, as any player can tell you that they've come away from it feeling like they just had an experience in their life, rather than just wasted 12 or so hours on video games.

It's a video game with themes such as war, love, morality, death, life, fate, science, truth, etc.

It's amazing how Kojima was able to pull something this epic off.

He could very well be the Shakespeare of our time (Though, not as poetic).

Perfection Ist.

Keep in mind that this is just me and not everybody; be sure to have an open mind while reading this.

I hear people talk all the time about how classic games like Final Fantasy VII are amazing and much better than today's stuff, but honestly, how many of you actually return to those video games just to play them? Yeah, I thought so. Not many of you. I mean, I know I don't. But then again, just because it's great doesn't mean you'd play it more than once, right?

Well, how does that explain CoD4? I love CoD4. It excels in many aspects, most notable of which, is online. I can come back and play that over and over and easily takes up 15 hours of my week. It may be the satisfaction of of smashing people and knowing they're going "Dammit..." somewhere else on the planet, but whatever it is, why doesn't it work on other titles?

After I beat Assassin's Creed, I didn't go back to it. It's just the kind of game you play once and you're done. But, I'm also not one of those perfectionists who have to go through the game collecting every little thing to get 100% finished. I mean, it's just a video game. So why do people go through all that trouble in the first place? You play the story and you're done. It's not like the collectibles will advance the story or anything.

Maybe I just have a short attention span and I'm part of a handful of gamers who don't go back and do that stuff.

Oh well.

That's my point.

Take it.

Gamespot vs. IGN

So, before I joined this site like, a month ago, I only came here for a reviews and such. Then I started getting into my PS3 and the upcoming titles and decided to make an account here to track those games.

Well, around that time, GTAIV was being hyped up and crap. I was constantly on here waiting for a review, as I was MONUMENTALLY excited for that game (What a let down..). Anyway, it was funny how I found out IGN had a review of it out for like, a week before GTAIV's sacred April 29th release date.

So, what about Gamespot?

Now, I wouldn't know Gamespot's history of getting reviews out compared to IGN's, as I've only just joined Gamespot and even before then, I only came on here to get reviews about games that had been out for months just so I can decide on whether to buy or not.

So is Gamespot really this slow at getting game reviews out?

There's even MGS4. IGN UK had a review out WAY before Gamespot did. (Or Gamespot UK for that matter..)

You'd think that Gamespot, specializing in video games and all, would get reviews out faster than IGN, which is a multi-media site.

It's like when I go to Wal Mart and find a game that I couldn't find at Gamestop / EB Games (Which has happened before..).

I don't know, am I just nitpicking?

Just something I noticed and didn't think it would hurt to bring it up.

What? They're making a fourth Soul Calibur?

Yah damn right they are. And it's going to have huge anime breasts and Star Wars.

That should be incentive enough to buy it. Namco is appealing to your inner Japanese business man / American comic book fan!

No, but seriously. I'm excited for this game. Mainly because of Create-A-Spud or whatever they called their character creator. I love making characters in video games, especially when the creation is in depth. Something kinda like Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Which I have and is a good game btw (So pick it up if you're into that stuff. RPGing, I mean, not character creation.)

I'm a creative person and don't like to be limited when it comes to things like that.

So essentially, this blog isn't about SC IV as much as it is about creating stuff.

Oh wait, yes it is.

I want to make something as equally cool as:

http://soulcaliburuniverse.com/images/sc4/2dchars/Ashelotte.jpg

But I can't. Know why? Because art work is always going to be better than the actual game (cough-Magna Carta Tears of Blood-cough). Know why?

Me neither. Marketing, probably. All I know is that SC IV WILL be in my collection. Make no mistake, mon frere. (French for "Home Skillet")
