I think the maion reason why Gamers Deny that games influence People to the extent some people claims, is because there has never been a study that Proves it?

Its a topic thats been beaten to death allready (pun intended), Before games, it was movies people pointed the fingers at, before movies, it was leather jackets and bikes.

Society is always looking for a scapegoat for the sad fact that society itself makes people ill to an extend. games are just the newest target.

You see, there has never EVER been a study (that was not funded by an inttrest group that wanted to ban games, this is important to note), that proved that games made children more violent, and mentally unstabile. There are however studys that indicates (and its fairly logical) That people with mental disorders Generally are attracted to violent things, such as violent games, movies, books, and even music that promotes violence tendencies (no not metal, or rap, simply songs about killing stuff).

If that is true, then games are hardly to blame, since the people are allready there, and allready ill, it is however society that fails to take note, and parents that takes so little notice of thier children that they do not Notice it (which is REALLY sad)

If the notion of games makes children violent, then it is an odd thing that violent crimes have decreased the last 10 years, while games have become incresingly graphic and violent.

Some people have a hard time distinguishing games make violent, or violent people gets attracted to games, but it is a very very important difference.

There is however a real problem with online games and kids, since they early on knows and percives that there is no concequences for being an arse, so online harrasment of classmates have exploted... Again this comes down to the parents, it is not the job of the entertainment industry (or social medias) to govern someones malajusted child, parenting andinstututions (in theory, altho in practive they have thier hands full allready), should be the correcting force from that.

I wish people would read some of all the studys made on the subject, and take notice of the sources they read from, so they would know more about the subject, it really is an important subject these days.

well said.

I don't deny the possible negative impacts, all i say is where are the parents. I was allowed to play Doom when i was 5 but in order for me to play doom i had play reader rabbit, and read before i got to play doom and that was never more than an hour. Having kids play at after dinner and after homework is fine, keep the video game console in the living room and the computer out of there room thats all you need to do. Its up to the parents and if the parents aren't watching there kids then the parent's fail. 90 percent of the time when minors get a hold of mature games its from irresponsible parents or the parent's knowingly give their kids the game.

It seems here on gamespot that multiplatform titles don't count or don't exist which is like saying those baseball players don't count because my baseball team has baseball players too.
