Yes absolutely. The Switch is what the Wii U should have been all along.

The only thing that I can see hurting Nintendo is being behind in power again; especially with PS5 and X SEX coming out next year. I don't think we will see anymore 3rd party ports like Doom or Witcher 3.

Which it could be fine just having indies and Nintendo games, but I think a Switch Revision is gonna have to happen holiday 2021 to keep up not just with power, but also hype.

My Pick would be DMC5

I have not played a lot of newer games this year, Fallen Order, Outer Worlds, Sekiro, and Days Gone are on my Xmas list so I'll hopefully be playing a few of those early into next year. So My GOTY could change.

But from what I've played, DMC5

At this point I think it's going to catch the handheld momentum Nintendo normally has.

So as long as Nintendo keeps releasing quality titles and quirky hardware revisions the Switch will continue to sell.

The only drawback moving forward is the potential 3rd Party support when those devs move over to PS5 and new Xbox. Will probably see less ports to Switch because of huge power differences.

I'm playing Astral Chain right now, and while I agree it's a good game I can see why it isn't getting a lot of recognition during award season. .

1. Astral Chain doesn't try anything new, yes I now the combat mechanics are different, but at it's core it's still a standard action game. Linear levels, re used assets etc...

2. Story isn't really great, and the characters don't have any weight or substance to them; which makes you not care about them at all.

3. The controls are not easy to get used to, yes you can learn them and you eventually get the hang of it, but damn this is not a play once or twice a week game (which sadly is about all the gaming time I get, so I'm always having to relearn how to play this game)

4. It's going up against Sekiro and DMC5, and Astral Chain in the things 3 I listed about doesn't compare well in those areas.

Astral Chain has great graphics, fantastic music, deep combat mechanics, and has some charm (Love Lappy).

But it's a little lacking in some areas when you compare it to similar games in the genre.

Solid 8/10 for me dawg

Dead Cells and Mario Kart are probably the two I play the most.

I think it deserves to be in the conversation for sure. I had a blast with it BUT

I think for ME Yakuza 0 is the game of the generation.

Mario games like Odyssey and 3D World are fantastic but then when uninspired games like the New Super Mario Bros come out and get rave reviews I find it very questionable.

Yes exactly.

The majority of the time Nintendo exclusives are some of the best games you can play, but every now and then Nintendo releases a game that just isn't up to par.

Case in point, New Super Mario Bros AND Zelda Skyward sword.

While those two games aren't broken, buggy trash; they are not good.....but somehow these games still got 9's and 10's.

come on

If you're already a Shenmue fan, then you're almost certainly going to enjoy it. But if you're not a Shenmue fan, then it's unlikely you're going to be converted. It's a niche cult game, by the fans, for the fans.

Exactly this.

It's a relic from the past. Not a remaster or re imagining. It feels like the game would have come out on Dreamcast or OG Xbox.

I should get my kit today. I guess I'll have to play Samurai Showdown or Destiny 2 because I sure ain't buying anything on this platform.

Man what a poor choice of monetization.

On the bright side nobody is using it so you can basically get whatever user name you want.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Services like Stadia, PS Now, and GamePass devalue you're games TO YOU.

Lol. well it's a good thing Stadia only has 20 games on it and most of them are $60.

I love GamePass. Best thing to happen in gaming this gen. Amazing service after they worked out the kinks and I've since completed a ton of games on it for a fraction of the cost. I've also been able to try a bunch of games just to find out I wouldn't like them. The devalue argument is a bunch of crap. It's subjective and you can't tell anyone else what value a game has. It's your own fault that your in that mental state.

When Game Pass stops letting you download the games in a few years and forces you to stream come back to this post so I can evaluate your mental state.

It’s probably a combo of

1. An illusion/sampling bias. Gamers spend a lot of time online, so alt right gamers also spend a lot of time online and appear over represented on social media.

Remember when EA got voted the worst company in America the same year that Blackwater was fucking people up or during the BP oil spill? That’s gamers being oversampled in online communities.

2. A lot of “Gamers” (and nerd culture writ large) have traditionally been white males who are used to being coddled to, and now that companies are trying to reach out to other demographics (women, POC, etc) some of the infantile white boys feel like they’re being “attacked” and “discriminated against” and shit and that makes them easy to pick up by alt right era. Easy to segue into conspiracies about cultural Marxism and pointless, childish rants about the evil SJW’s

This is probably the best answer.

The Vocal minority can seem like much more.

They can bitch and complain about socialism all they want, but I know for a fact they use public services such as schools, roads, police, and fire fighters.

100% Capitalism is just as bad as 100% Socialism. It's up to Society to have a good mix of both. To say otherwise is ignorant and uneducated mouth garbage.
