Next Up

The Sonic reviews are finished. Hope you enjoy and/or agree with them.

What's next? Well, first I'll be getting up my review of Mario vs Sonic at the Olympic games. After that I'll be doing some reviews on my favorite classics and hits. This will include all three versions of Soul Calibur II in honor of the soon to be released Soul Calibur IV. Maybe soon I'll have a review up for GTAIV once I aquire it.

-Cheers

Rating and Rating

Ok I'm getting tired of the Quote of the Day thing. I'll bring it back later or something.

Anywho, I justed wanted to restate how I rate games again. I only rate games I enjoyed playing. My rating system only goes from 6.0 to 10.0. I don't rate or review horrible games because I feel they're not worth the time. I only rate/review a terrible game if I feel an opinion needs to get through. Think if I played a game that everyone's raving about and giving perfect scores, but I didn't like it. Then I'd review and state why I didn't enjoy it like everyone else.

Oh and the Sonic Heroes review is up.

One more thing, the one classic Sonic game I'll be reviewing indavidually (sp?) is Knuckles Chaotix since it isn't included in any of the collections.

The Eternal Struggle

Like the new banner folks? It's the best I could do, so if ya think it's an eyesore, all well.

I just got my review of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle up. It's probably my longest and best review yet, so give it a look if you've got the time.

Once I'm done with these Sonic reviews, I'm going to give my full review of Mario vs Sonic at the Olympic Games. I played the game a few months back and I think I need to give my opinion.

It's strange really. I would have expected better from Nintendo and Sega than an Olympics game. I was expecting a adventure platformer where the plumber and the hedgehog are butting heads throughout, but team up to defeat a greater force in the end. Something like Super Smash Bros Brawl had in the story mode. I loved Sonic's entrance for the final battle, but I was hoping for him to show up earlier and for the two great mascots to fight each other.

I'm ok with the Mario series, but I really don't like the character himself. I'm more of a Luigi fan. :D

Maybe in the near future, Nintendo and Sega can give us the greatest platformer of all time.

The Guitar Hero Craze

Quote of the Day

"Carl you drive! Smoke look like he gon' pass out!"

I used to be a huge fan of Guitar Hero when I first played it, but not so much anymore. The hype and development of like three installments per year is getting a bit rediculous.

Don't get me wrong it's a good franschise, I just think they need to slow down with it. I still play GH ever once in a while, but I take my usual platformer or fighting game any day.

GH: Aerosmith is set to release very soon and GH4 is coming in fall. If that wasn't enough, GH: Metallica has been announced for Q1 2009. I like the idea of making GH games that revolve around certain bands, but I'd like to see installments with bands I (and millions of others) enjoy. Maybe in the near future we can get one for Iron Maiden, Gorillaz and The Eagles. Tenacious D would be cool too, but not a lot of variety. Gorillaz may be a meld of musical genres, but there's enough guitar in their songs.

Once again, we'll just have to wait and see what the future holds.

Sonic Update

Well, I'm hittin' the reviews again. I'll be reviewing my full Sonic collection. It'll start with Mega Collection. I have a Sega Genesis, but instead of wasting so much cash on shipping and such, I took the easy way out with Mega and Gems Collection.

An issue I'd like to discuss is the inclusion of a new character in each new Sonic installment. I don't mind it, but you know how purists are. Here is a list of characters that have appeared since Sonic Adventure, that I truely enjoy...

Tikal the Echidna-A major character in the Chaos events of Sonic Adventure. A kind and loving echidna who belonged to the Knuckles Tribe. She tried so hard to keep her father from harming the Chao population for power, but no one listened. She is most likely an ancestor to Knuckles.

Big the Cat-But SFT, surely a Sonic fan like you couldn't possibly favor a retard like Big?! Yes folks, I think Big is cool. A big, purple cat who lives in the Mystic Ruins with his frog, Froggy. He enjoys long naps and fishing. Big isn't a retard people. He's just too carefree to think logically like everyone else. In a way, he's a lot like Sonic.

E-102 'Gamma'-Although he's gone, I can never forget Gamma's story of self deception. Gamma was a robot, part of Eggman's E-Series. His first good deed of helping Amy and the Flicky, Lily, led him on a journey of finding himself. After a battle with his brother 'Beta' the true Gamma was released. He now flies free with his Flicky family.

Shadow the Hedgehog-Sonic's ultimate nemesis. Created by Professer Gerald Robotnik for the good of mankind, Shadow had no idea who he was directly. After three games and a cool gun mechanic, Shadow found his purpose for living and put his past behind him. Even though he plays the hero often, he still can't help but duke it out with the Blue Blur.

Rouge the Bat-I can never tell a lie...ok that was a lie. I think Rouge is sexy! This Bat thief made her debut with Shadow in Sonic Adventure 2. She'll do anything for jewels. She also has an unadmitable crush on Rad Red Echinda, Knuckles.

Eggman Nega-The dimensional counterpart to the good Doctor himself. Eggman Nega has become a major villian in the series ever since his debut in Sonic Rush. He is politer, yet crueler than Eggman. His attitude is similar to the Dr. Robotnik we grew to know in the SatAM cartoon.

Silver the Hedgehog-One of Sonic Team's better creations (other than the Blue Blur and Rad Red), Silver is a time travelling, psychokenetic hedgehog. He helped out in the deception that Mephiles had brought and the destruction that Iblis had caused. Cool character, crappy voice.

Mephiles the Dark-The coolest and cruelest of the Sonic villians. Mephiles unleashed Iblis to the world, even taking the form of Shadow and ruining his new reputation as a hero. His true form is a crystalin hedgehog of black and blue. He has no mouth as well.

Jet the Hawk-Faster than Sonic...in the air at least. Jet loves a challenge of speed and can't bare to lose. He is the leader of the Babylon Rogues and great with an extreme gear.

Wave the Swallow-Sexy, intelligent, true to herself! Wave is my favorite Sonic femme. She is Jet's intellectual and yet he never listens to her.

Marine the Raccoon-Crikey! Bonza! Strewth! I love the Australian accent of this energentic Raccoon! Although she may have some flaws, Marine makes a great addition to the Sonic crew.

And another thing? What is with everyone's obsession with Emerl the robot? I'm ashamed to say that I've never played Sonic Battle. It's not that I don't want to, it's just somewhat hard to find these days. I don't know the character, so I don't know why every likes him.

You'll be getting a lot more Sonic updates from me...only once an awhile though. No worries, I'm not gonna annoy you with my obsession.

Everyone's Work

"It all starts with this, a jewel containing the ultimate power!"

From now on, I'm gonna add a VG quote to each blog post. Kinda give a history lesson...or some crap like that.

The true topic, what is with developers creating all these games based off of web-comics?! First Penny Arcade gets a game, now Strong Bad! I guess anyone who puts their crap on the net can get a game now huh?

If developers really wanna go for the gold, make a VG Cats video game! That webcomic is worth the time, unlike Pennyless Arcade. Or they can get some ideas from Snafu Comics! They've got excellent material! Hell, Herms (one of the main artists) works on the Sonic the Hedgehog comic! :D

If I see one more webcomic become a game, I'll start my own! I may not be the best artist, and my deviantart page doesn't have the most views, but I can try!

Golden Age and a Sterling Silver Future

First I'd like to start by saying, oh no they're at it again! UbiSoft is unfortunately releasing another Raving Rabbids game. I'm a fan of Rayman, but the Raving Rabbids formula is getting stale! Not only that, but Rayman himself is being overshadowed by the psycho bunnies. I just hope that in the near future we can see a good ole' Rayman adventure game. We're waiting UbiSoft!

2004 started what I like to call the second golden age of video gaming. Many monster titles, like GTA San Andreas and Mortal Kombat Deception were released that year and every year since saw the release of hundreds of great games and consoles. Four years later, 2008 is no exception. Here's a list of games I look forward to obtaining soon enough...

Sonic Unleashed-By now you all should know my obsession with the Blue Dude with a 'tude. Thus far, Sonic Unleashed looks promising, bringing back classic Sonic gameplay with the new Hedgehog Engine. I also can't wait to see how the were-hog mechanic will work.

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood-I never really liked RPGs, but BioWare's work is exceptional and I was bouncing off the walls when I found out they were making a Sonic RPG back in 2006. Like Unleashed, Chronicles looks great so far. Hopefully we can get Silver as a playable character and a Sonic/Amy sub-plot in there! XD

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe-The fighting game that surprised the industry only a month ago. I don't mind it. I'm a fan of MK. I'm a fan of Batman and some other DC works. It worked for Marvel vs Capcom, so why not?

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts n Bolts-I enjoyed playing the first two games on the N64. I've been waiting for a third game. I'm a bit skeptical about the whole custom vehicle thing though.

Hitman 5-After Blood Money and an ok movie, I'm still waiting for the next Hitman installment. I can't wait to see the new ways to take out your targets.

Twisted Metal Next-Gen-No other car combat series has defined the genre like Twisted Metal. Twisted Metal Head-On surprised us with the hidden message "Twisted Metal for PS3". What can David Jaffe and the crew at Eat, Sleep, Play bring us in the next installment of this cut-throat series? Only time will tell.

Fable 2-Always a fan of morality games, I loved the genious that was Fable. Peter Molyneux has shown us so much for the next game and I'm becoming impatient. I can't wait!

The future of the gaming industry deffinetly looks bright (unless Hilary Clinton becomes president). Here's what I'm looking for in the near future...

A Knuckles the Echidna solo game-Do I need to explain?

Remakes of Pokemon Gold and Silver-A Japanese magazine has covered this story, but is it true? I hope so. Gold and Silver were my favorites of the Pokemon series.

The Suffering 3-Loved and reviewed the first two games. There is potential for a third game.

The next Rayman adventure game-Explained above.

THE Sonic game-A Sonic game that'll blow everyone, and make reviewers eat their past reviews.

A guy can dream can he? The gaming industry is at its peak and I feel it isn't gonna fall anytime sooner.

Pride

What makes a gamer a proud fan? Is it the fact that they play the game, or that they play it 24/7.

To me, a gamer is a proud fan when they take pride in supporting and upholding the legacy of their favorite franchises. This is the case with myself and Sonic and Mortal Kombat.

When I first beat Sonic Adventure 2, I cried at Shadow's supposed death. Sure I was nine, but now I see it as being a die hard fan. So what if I was crying about a virtual character? At least I care! XD

When Ed Boon announced that Armageddon would be the last in the current-gen of Mortal Kombat, I vented and felt a little depressed liek many other MK fans. We were used to Scorpion, Sub-Zero and the other fighters that made their mark in MK history. However, we don't have to worry about that with MK vs. DC.

Take pride in your games. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to take drastic measures. It's ok to feel emotionally attached to a character or play style. It's called being a fan and true fans love their series and never back down, no matter what score the reviewers give.

The Last Day with Knux

Today was my last day of school. I'm over with my freshman year of highschool. Come August, I'll be a sophomore.

Onto the real topic, I spent the last remaining moments of school with my favorite Sonic character (other than the blue blur himself) Knuckles. I know it sounds insane, but what I really ment is that I watched a speed run of Sonic 3 and Knuckles on google. The player used Knux all the way through, collecting every chaos and super emerald and not dieing once! Check it out sometime!

But in my heart, I was there with the echidna, having fun.

I'm a fan, what can I say.

Nothing Much

Well that's all the character 'reviews". Hope you enjoyed them. Any newer Sonic fans got a bit of history lesson! XD

Nothing much is going on. No reviews in mind at the moment. Kinda slow with school ending and such. Be patient and I may have a review up within a week or so.
