So ME is finally on sale on Steam and for some reason this game is calling to me for about 2 months now. I'm typically not an RPG gamer, not that I don't like them, but I've avoided Fallout 3, Oblivion, and Dragon Age because they take so much time and I play alot of games usually in the same timeframe. I did really enjoy the KoToR series though, played some WoW for a couple of years and other then classic Phantasy Star never played many RPG's.

I have no doubt the game is worth $5 bucks....probably still worth $20 from what I hear, but in your opinions should I start playing it. I really want a good story with a full universe to dive into, and I figured with ME having 2 games soon and a series of books behind it there must be some depth to the story.

Also considering Portal, heard great things but never jumped on board with it.

Your thoughts?

I would like an invite as well. Did Frets on Fire, GH 3 on pc, and was considering getting a console primarily for RB / GH games. I'd love to see a good PC game come out and save me some money lol.

On the great majority of tvs, HDMI will show you better PQ over Component. On some HD Flat Panels, the only way you will see 1080i is thru HDMI. Component will only give you 720P.

If your TV supports HDMI 1.3 (instead of 1.2) get it. Colors are better.

HDMI supports up to 1080p. Component will support up to 1080i. The only difference other than how the signals carry over is the scan mode they run in. The only reason to use 1080p is if you have ghosting issues with gaming or sports etc., fast actions on the screen. But if you HDTV is new enough to support 1080p it probably won't have ghosting issues to begin with.

Yes your getting enough out of your games. The quaility difference between HDMI and Component is minimal at best. Personally I prefer Component because the video and the audio rides on their own connections. The convenience of HDMI is great, but I see more audio corruption and balancing issues (voice under music/effects etc.) with HDMI than anything else with some setups. As long as you are getting 1080i, or the highest resultion your game runs in, in won't look much better no matter what you use.

Also if you decide on HDMI do not get $89.00 Monster Cable. A 6 foot HDMI cable will perform better than any high end 15 foot cable. You lose quality over the length of the cable just like VGA/DVI on pc's.

I know some of the 1080p fanatics will disagree but I do this for a living and trust me. I see about 60 different tv's a week and massively different home entertainment setups at every house I go to.

It's not out yet, last release date I saw was November 17th. It's not really getting much attention despite all the added pc only features but it's a year old now and this is a very busy fall/winter release year.

First off I just want to be clear I am by no means bashing or downing the Wii. I think it's an achievement how Nintendo pulled in the non-gaming and gaming community with a system that appeals to so many people and is easy to play, and I have alot of respect for Nintendo on going their own way rather than following the recent trend in game design.

I'm having a hard time finding a game I would enjoy and play alot. I've mainly played on the PC for the last 15 years, had every system except for a 3DO back to the Atari 2600 so the retro games are a plus to have. But over the last 10 years or so gaming has changed and flown over to AAA titles that have traded off "the game" for "the awe factor". While it's true that they have taken the game out of most video games recently, I tend to enjoy the awe factor alot and I'm happy with some of it.

But the Wii isnt about the awe factor, it's about the game. My brother said years ago that the problem with video games anymore is that they took the game out of them.

I have a hard time wanting games like Star Wars TFU or Madden 10 on this system though when a much better looking version is/will be available. I don't want to sound like a graphics snob but I've played the Wii at Best Buy and on an HD TV they are blurry and hard to look at sometimes. My fear is that if we get the Wii and not a PS3 or 360 that I won't enjoy it also. Although I will admit that I hated that Webkinz game and World of Warcraft because they look cheesy ( until I played them a while and got the addiction of the game flowing in my blood ).

I can see enjoying games like Tiger Woods, Rock Band and Guitar Hero with the unique control scheme.

My fiancee' wants us to get a Wii because she thinks it would be fun and has alot of family competitive games that we can play together. What else can you guys here recommend that I try playing before we buy a Wii that might make me enjoy or like this system myself. I'm not saying it's bad, just not my thing. I guess I still have my pc for the "Awe" titles ( except for Madden, thank you EA ) but I want to like it.

Ironic isn't it all.

First day of Bioshock's release, it was available through torrents. But only the Xbox 360 version.

Fallout 3 was leaked and is available through pirated torrents before the pc version is even released.

Far Cry 2 has already been listed as available through torrents for the Xbox 360 as well. Before the pc release.

But pirating is the #1 excuse for people like John Carmack, Lucasarts and various others as well as Will Wright for having extreme pc security software. And dont tell me not that many people have modded consoles because they do, its easy and cheap and wildly available through internet companies to have it done for you.

Also lets not forget the possible PS3 nightmare scare a couple of years a ago. If you didnt know or forgot, originally the PS3 was going to have a security chip inside. All PS3 games were going to have a security key built into the disk. Once that security key was activated by the console that specific game could only be used on that PS3 that activated it and on no other.

Not only destroying the resale value of the game, but also making it impossible to play the game on your friends PS3 or impossible for companies like Blockbuster and Game Fly to rent out games for the PS3 because they security key had already been assigned to one specific unit.

We may yet see that in the next gen of consoles and digital distro on the pc and console may become the norm.

If that happens I will predict that modded consoles and pirating of all games across all systems will become even more rampant and available if not see a huge total loss of revenue stream from consumers.

But I could be wrong

The only reason I went to all that trouble is for one, I already had a free Madcatz controller and wanted to use both of them on Madden. Two, It gives more advanced options for use with other games. But yeah...if you can shell out for even a used MS controller it's just as good. I'm just trying to give some help for people who would rather buy games than controllers.

1. Steam could be updating his files in the background.

2. His Steam connection settings may be at the wrong speed.

3. His connection is unstable, slow, or infected with spyware, adware, malware.

4. What the guy above me said.

If his pings are fine in the server search, but increase in-game, it's a settings issue with probably graphics, sound, or netspeed. If his pings during the server search are high, it's his Steam settings or probably his physical connection or a problem on the ISP side.
