Lets face it, the gap in power between either of these consoles with their predecessors is not that large. There is not going to be some massive departure in game logic, or the conventions of game design. You arent getting anything you care about that cant be done on last gen on either platform before 2023.

This. I'll go a step further, I didnt even expect Horizon: Forbidden West to make 2021, and they showed a trailer for that game.

This game showed essentially a JPEG and a recycled music track lifted directly from the previous game........Think about that.......they didnt even rescore or re-arrange it lol.

Also, when was the last time Sony did less than a 4-5 year dev cycle for their tier-1 (or even tier 2) games? Then throw Covid into the mix (the critical stage of development this game is in lines right up with Covid. Other games who blamed Covid were mostly already done).

And people are expecting this game next holiday? Cows, I am warning you..........do not get played like Lems did with Halo.

..... Neither the PS4 or Xbox One were BC. We both know why, as its been litigated many times on here over the years. And we both know that the circumstances reguarding the "why" (the architecture/software), will no longer be a factor for these new consoles. Its not even worth relitigating. These consoles are both iterative of their previous installments on both a foundational, architectural and software level. Both systems run the previous console's code natively. They would have to actively be arbitrarily gating games off. Or as I said, "unchecking a box". The same thing goes for the DualShock 4 support on PS5. The system even supports it natively in the system software.

By the way now talk about uncheck that is what MS did with Kinect and its games,they don't work on series X or S.

They really just quietly buried this in their press release lol. This was not a last minute flip of a switch. I told you all months ago when this was a debate, that while I didnt like the practice, Sony was absolutely going to do the same thing, and MS's only "mistake" was being stupid enough to say the quiet part out loud.

Sony diliberately spun a yarn for you, in case you're still not understanding whats happening here. They told you months ago "we dont believe in cross gen" and "our games are designed from the ground up for the SSD" with the full knowledge and understanding that this was not only nonsense, but that the opposite was ALWAYS the case. Unless you think they just ported these games in the last couple of months. There goes the "ground up for PS5" thing.
