Sometimes it bellies belief how inept this company is lol.
Jesus fugging christ, just call the systems "Xbox Green" and "Xbox Blue". There you go Microsoft. Theres a non-retarded name thats a million times better than the monumentally stupid name that you came up with. That wasnt difficult at all. Now go and fire your ENTIRE marketing team.
Who on earth focus-groups this shit?
A new writer and project lead being hired for a game that was supposed to be going gold and printing retail discs 2 months from now...........
And people think a delay to mid 2021 will change anything of consequence? Im going to say it right now, there was no way this game was ever going to come out this holiday and MS knows it. The games problems (which extend far beyond the abysmal graphics) are baked into the design philosophy of the game itself.
At this point I believe they need to restart development from scratch, and delay the game to 2023.
Kingdom Hearts restarted development from scratch multiple times. They also switched engines from Luminous to Unreal Engine 4. The game ended up being well received.
Epic released the specs for the Unreal Engine 5 demo that Tim Sweeney was doing that North Korean propaganda for a few months ago hyping up the PS5's SSD (conveniently after Sony bought a 1.4% stake in the company).
Turns out it only used I believe 768MB/s IO bandwidth of PS5's SSD. At least it was in the 700s, I cant be bothered to look up the exact number right now. But it came nowhere close to maxing out even half of the Series X's IO throughput, let alone the PS5.
Sony doesnt just "have" $750 million lying around that they can just drop on a moments notice for nonsense like this. They are not Microsoft.
Sony (the entire company) made $5.3 billion in operating profits, in their entire last fiscal year. Aka, roughly ten times less than Microsoft in that same period.
Its puzzling to me why Cows think Sony, who again (by ALL available consumer research polls and engagement metrics) are FAR ahead in interest for the PS5 according to Cows, are pulling out the checkbook and running to literally every third party publisher, begging for an extravagant exclusive deal..........
While also suggesting that Sony is not threatened by Gamepass or free Xbox Live , and can match it if they wanted to (sacrificing another $2-3 billion dollars revenue).........
While also suggesting that Sony has the upper hand on price and is going to undercut Microsoft, a company with both the means and a clear market impetus to not let that happen.
I dont get it......Where on earth do you guys think Sony is getting all this money from, and why do you guys constantly expect a company at the TOP of their momentum to burn it all away on some crazy loss leader strategy that (and I cant stress this enough) they have absolutely no reason to engage in? Sony cant be all things to all people lol. Playstation is basically one of the ONLY profitable divisions in the entire company.
@Sevenizz: judging by sales, Xbox is the one using bad thumbstick position. Have fun with your unpopular preference.
Thats a poor arguement lol.
The Xbox controller is widely preferred not only by the PC community, but its also seen regular defacto use in mainstream proffessional fields such as the US military, medical research, and engineering. And it has been, all the way back to the Xbox 360 era.
Let me know when the fucking US Navy and Airforce use a Dualshock/Dualsense to pilot a predator drone, conduct drone strikes, control the periscope on a nuclear submarine, or operate a mortar gun on a warship. Because they've been using the Xbox One and 360 controllers for the past 10+ years.
I dont know about Xbox One vs PS4, but there were certainly more 360 controllers in the wild vs its contemporary Dualshock, simply due to it being the defacto controller on PC.

I thought the news about Sony supposedly running around to every third party publisher trying to procure timed exclusive deals and felt weird to me.
Why would Sony be seemingly in such a hurry to throw such massave amounts of money around doing this, at anyone who will listen, considering the dominant position the PS4, and by all engagement and marketing metrics, the PS5 is in.
Sony must know something we dont know. Something about this gave me the feeling Microsoft must have done something big hehind the scenes, and that Sony are responding to some huge move by MS that we dont yet know about.
It wasn't ready, I don't care if the demo was an E3 demo, they put forth the best they had AND that was it?!
It's not ready, it needs to be delayed or they would have had an Anthem or Fallout 76 situation and it would have been the death of Halo
This. I still dont think one year is enough time, and I dont even believe it will make it in 2021.
The problems with the game are much deeper than surface level polish, and inherently baked into the design philosophy of the game. They need to just scrap this shit and start over, or hand it off to another developer. Tuck tail and migrate from Slipspace to Unreal Engine 5 if they have to. They wouldn't be the first.
Square Enix spent untold years and a fuckton of money on the Luminous engine, dropped it after one game, and switched to Unreal Engine 4. Kingdom Hearts 3 restarted development from scratch 2 or 3 times since its 2014(I believe) announcement. And it ended up being well recieved.
Most of their other first party devs are all working on Unreal Engine 5 anyways.
