https://www.gamewatcher.com/news/alan-wake-publishing-rights-reverted-to-remedy

"For its first half-year period of 2019, Remedy Entertainment Plc records approximately 2.5 million euros of royalties from previously released games as one-time income," says the announcement. "In relation to this, the publishing rights of Alan Wake games are reverted to Remedy."

While the financial bonus doesn't do much for Remedy's bottom line, it's a welcome addition to the monetary portfolion for 2019, and will undoubtedly assist them in the development of their future titles, such as Control and - maybe - Alan Wake 2.

There's not much info given otherwise, short of this announcement itself, but it does signify good news for Remedy. Let us see what they do with it.

Look, the Sony stuff is just my made up speculation, but could an acquisition arms race, be starting? Look, the lem in me would be salty over this (not really, because I would still be able to play the games, its fun being a gainfully employed adult human) because I do not consider Remedy an equal trade for Ninja Theory, but part of me cant wait to see what happens.

There had to have been a reason for MS to not publish Alan Wake, and to cut ties with Remedy like this, when it seemed like Remedy was the one that wanted the relationship to continue. They arent stupid, and our speculation isnt anything that they havent thought of.

I'd like to think the TC and every cow ITT knows Ninja Theory didnt just pump this game out in under 1 year after being acquired by MS and already have a public alpha launching 2 weeks from now, and that thats not how game development works, and they're just trolling, but thats giving cows too much credit. Strong thread backfire TC.

Aparently theres also evidence they were prototyping this game as far back as 5 years ago.

So is someone else going to tell the TC this game was in development before MS bought them, or do I have to?

Is MS even publishing this game?

I strongly disagree with the false equivalence some in the gaming community have been trying all gen to draw between the prominence of open world games this gen, and the dominance of linear corridor shooters of last gen. I'll take open world any day of the week.

The two eras are in no way analagous. Last gen was a far, FAR darker time.

Also, lifelong Metal Gear fan. If it werent for the shenanagins reguarding chapter 3 and episode 51, MGS5 would be my personal favorite game of all time.

Am I the only one who remembers when GTAV's multiplayer first came out back on 360/PS3, it was broken garbage, it didnt even work right, and everybody hated it?

That ALL of Sony's first party are AAA powerhouses, and with the exception of the above, they arent ALL B-D tier studios, and that with the exception of the above, Sony has some ungodly super duper first party thats tiers above anything else?

I mean, when MS bought Obsidian of all studios, not to mention Playground, Ninja Theory, we had cows refering to them as "a bunch of B-D studios" like they were nobodys. More importantly, Like literally ALL of Sonys first party outside ND/SSM doesnt fit into that description. Seriously, who else besides those two doesnt fit that mold?

Sucker Punch? Guerilla Games?

Bend studios, who hasnt produced anything of value in decades, but featured prominently on cow "why sony first party is super duper" lists for years (for some reason). Just sayin.

This is nothing compared to early last gen, in terms of once revered developers flopping, many of those flops taking the entire studio down.
