Now that we know about the Scorpio, what do you think the next moves in this dance among all three companies will be?

Ive been on all sides of the console war in my System Wars carreer, even far pre-dating this account, and many of you would consider me more "lem" friendly nowadays, and I was a cow last gen, so I am not loyal to any of these platforms.

But, I'm going to make some predictions:

  • Both Sony and Nintendo will push back both the PS4 Neo and Nintendo NX to holiday 2017 to launch along side the Scorpio. All three consoles will launch holiday 2017
  • The Neo and the Nintendo NX will both get a spec bump. Both will be 8 teraflops.
  • Xbox will remain at 6TF and just coast off their current momentum.
  • Xbox will name the Scorpio (and rebrand the "xbox one" family) simply "Xbox"

Discuss.

Yay for a black guy as the lead (im black).

Despite Aiden Peirce being the most generic "fake-batman" protagonist in human history, I actually liked the first Watchdogs way more than the hate it got. It wasnt perfect by any means, but It had unique gameplay, and I got my enjoyment out of it. I even enjoyed the whole infiltrate your game thing. Maybe they pull an Assassins Creed 2.

Bring back Eight Days, and have Naughty Dog develop it?

Back when this game was hyped and first shown, it was marketed exactly like Sony/NaughtyDog has always marketed the Uncharted games. This game basically WAS Uncharted before Uncharted was Uncharted.

It was hyped as a "Cinematic experience" using the same performance capture that Naughty Dog went on to be praised for. It had real actors (Ving Rhames), It was hyped for its "dynamic" third person shooting and groundbreaking animations and performance capture(for the time), cinematic setpiece moments, "like a movie" etc.....all of the same language and buzzwords you've all heard associated with every uncharted game, you get it, etc......

Point is, after finishing Uncharted 4 (beat it day one in 13 hours 25 minutes, currently halfway through crushing playthrough) does anyone else think that Eight Days would be awesome as hell to be developed by Naughty Dog, and modernized to PS4? That game basically is "Naughty Dog: The Game".

Discuss.

I wonder if they're still going to go through with all those other Sony first party IP movies, like that Sly Cooper movie they showed a trailer for a few years ago. That one looked awful, and they're all being made by the same studio that made this.

EDIT: if im not mistaken, the same studio also made that awful Heavenly Sword movie too.

Stolen from Neo gaf.

Apparently is a slim model, from there i think it will weight from 600 to 800 grams which is half or less of the xbox one weight.

A slimmer and more powerful XB1 is what Microsoft could use right now.

Is it?

MS has suggested they wouldn't be making any tier level xbox one systems unless they were lying trying to throw people off.

They did? I thought they were the first of both of them to even suggest the notion of more powerful hardware coming.

Notice how right after Microsoft started talking about an improved Xbox, how quickly you started hearing PS4.5/Neo "leaks" all over the place?

'I’m Not A Big Fan Of Xbox One And A Half,' Says Xbox Boss Phil Spencer

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2016/04/01/i-m-not-a-big-fan-of-xbox-one-and-a-half-says-xbox-boss-phil-spencer.aspx?utm_content=buffer825d4&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

During Microsoft's Build 2016 Developer Conference, Xbox boss Phil Spencer held a small roundtable to discuss the changes coming to Xbox One and Windows gaming. During that chat, the rumors of PlayStation 4.5 and a possible Xbox counterpart came up. Spencer offered his own thoughts on the gossip and how it could apply to Xbox One and re-emphasizing earlier sentiments about the possibility of upgrading your Xbox One.

"I’m not a big fan of Xbox One and a half. If we’re going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers," Spencer said. "I don’t know anything about any of the rumors that are out there, but I can understand other teams’ motivations to do that. For us, our box is doing well. It performs, it’s reliable, the servers are doing well. If we’re going to go forward with anything, like I said, I want it to be a really substantial change for people – an upgrade."

The speculation surrounding PlayStation 4.5 are in relation to its upcoming VR push and the possible need for more power that some believe could result in 4K gaming (we're not so sure). Microsoft has no current plans to support VR on Xbox One, but we did speak with Xbox's head of advanced technology group, Jason Ronald, about the possibility of VR or HoloLens support. You can read that story here.

Forthe full roundtable discussion with Phil Spencer, head here.

Lol it's Sega Genesis all over again. Bad idea for Sony and Microsoft. Many early adopters will be pitchfork in hand Mad.

This is not the Genesis all over again. These consoles are PCs. For the first time in history, all consoles, and PC will use the same architecture and similar graphic APIs. The same games will scale to work on both version of the platforms.

Makes sense. Can't imagine #DRIVECLUB was that successful. All of the delays, the terrible launch, and the hilarious "free on PSN" thing that never really happened just killed the entire game.

You don't keep bad studios going. If you can't change their management to fix up the situation or find that it would be ineffective to try to save them, you shut them down. Standard business practices.

That's probably why Microsoft shut down Lionhead too.

You have to make money to stay in business or be a valuable addition to a larger product.

This goes for "both sides", as well as 3rd parties, but I have a feeling alot of these publishers who bet early on on these Free to Play and other such weird ass "experimental" business models (this "episodic" nonsense Hitman is doing, or Online Only "mode-based" multiplayers (Titanfall, Evolve)), who still have unreleased games we heard about at the start of the gen that dissapeared are going to go back to the drawing board.

I bet games such as Capcom's Deep Down and Crytek's HUNT are going to reemerge sometime down the line as "normal" games with that bullshit stripped out of them. All these closures and flops should be a sign to developers to stop forcing these weird ass business models on games that have no business doing it.

What's Ready at Dawn working on or did Sony also shut them down

Sony cut ties with them last June:

http://ps4daily.com/2015/06/rumor-sony-has-parted-ways-with-the-order-1886-developer/

After being close to buying the studio only that previous February:

http://n4g.com/news/1666216/sony-likely-to-acquire-ready-at-dawn-following-the-order-1886

(deleted link)

After the flop, Sony couldnt tell them to go **** themselves fast enough.

They did similar with Superbot (Playstation All Stars: Battle Royale) post flop, after assembling the independent studio for the sole purpose of creating the franchise.

They also the same with Lightbox and Incognito after Starhawk. And EatSleepPlay after Twisted Metal flopped. And Zipper after Socom 4 flopped. Forget that all of those games were underbaked, underfunded, unfinished, and sent out to die "soft launches" with ZERO marketing or exposure by Sony into a climate that at the time was already hostile/indifferent to Playstation exclusives.
