[QUOTE="TacticalElefant"]I have a refurbished PS3 that I bought from Gamestop when I still worked for them. It was either getting it used with a 15% discount as well or buying it new for $599.99 (this was last July). Yeah it ended up costing me about $460 after taxes. And so far it's been very good to me. It's only the first time I've bought a refurbished the first go around with a newly released system (my first PS2 I bought brand new PS2 originally, got rid of it years down the line, then bought a refurbished, broke it myself, then bought another new silver one). I'm pretty happy with it, however in these cases I tend to buy stuff brand new, but the huge savings for me were totally worth it and it's sitting happily in my living room, accept it's lonely and not being pushed to it's full potential since I don't have an HDTV to go with it. I need to find out if my Samsung PC monitor is HDCP compatible with my PS3 though, as I use my 360 with it for high definition. bluntmastaslaya

hey thanks for the info, do the refurbished concoles come with warranties? what is cheaper? used or refurbished?

The warranty is 30 days. So yeah pretty short. You can buy year long warranties (I'm not sure if they've added longer ones) and if things are still the same since I left GS last July, used and refurbished systems should cost the same. When I was still working there, all PS3's were "refurbished" because they got sent back to the central part of GS in Grapevine, TX to have there harddrives properly erased be the system broken or not. I know used Wii's have their memory and system reset in store now, and I think PS3s are as well now, but I'm not too sure about that either. Best to just ask or call about it. Honestly though I'd just wait for the MGS4 bundle, as now PS3s are cheaper brand new. $499.99 is a nice deal for an 80 GB PS3 w/ Dual shock 3 and MGS4. I bought my PS3 (60 GB North American) kind of early on because I wanted a system before the full backwards compatibility was cut out.

[QUOTE="67gt500"]

I read an interview with Jade Raymond (UBI), Patrice Desilets (UBI) and Hideo Kojima (KP) some time ago during which Kojima praised the Assassin's Creed team for being able to pull off some technical stuff that his own team was telling him couldn't be done, etc. etc....

The Assassin's Creed devs in turn, gushed old MGS nostalgia and praised Kojima and his team for their huge contributions to the stealth/action gaming genre, etc. etc.

There seemed to be a good rapport between them, and a lot of mutual professional respect so it might be no surprise to see Altair making a cameo in MGS4

I have a funny feeling that Ubisoft and Konami might have some problem with that.

Well these are individuals crediting eachother for eachothers work, so if either Konami or Ubisoft have a problem with that, they really need to get over it. Besides I don't think that was the case at all, I'm sure Konami and Ubisoft greenlighted this idea, especially considering Kojima is a god amongst the videogame community as well as Ubisoft Montreal being Ubisoft's most important studio IMHO who pretty much gave Ubisoft a great, new, very well selling and critically acclaimed new franchise. They better be allowed to do crazy things such as this fun trailer and cross promotion, because it's light hearted, shows the dedication and patronage to their art as well as their fellow developers. Taking it too seriously kills the fun.

Well it's definetly aiming after the Halo crowd of FPSs. It looks interesting, but cliche also. I'll probably pick it up and I'm sure it'll sell well. I'm predicting about an 8/10 for it. Things I'm looking forward to are the weapons stealing, which could make things interesting in multiplayer, how the story works if it's going to be something to write home about or just another sci-fi bit that tries to be "epic" or grand w/e, and whether or not this proves to be a critical new franchise for the PS3. I find the games industry somewhat fascinating in how it works, and Haze is looking to be an interesting new IP of very few that is actually made by a third party and sticking to being an exclusive.

On a side note though, I'm somewhat disturbed by the severe bloating of FPSs on the market, and how they all push the same set of things in content now: Single Player, Co-op and Multiplayer.

It would be sure nice to see a new FPS on the market that pushes out of the Halo madness and really sets itself apart or a third person shooter that pushes away from the Gears of War-esque stule of game, hence why I'm looking forward to Killzone. I've been playing STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl on PC lately and it's been really refreshing getting out of those cliches. However I really want a real sniping game a la Sniper Elite except with of course much better graphics, a better emphasis on blending with the environment, and of course a return to realistic bullet physics. STALKER to my ultimate delight actually uses bullet physics, while it's not as challenging due to the lack of wind being calculated into the game, it was nice to see a game engine that actually uses it for once, instead of simply putting the cross hairs on the target and pulling the trigger.

But yeah back to Haze, I'm sure it'll be good, probably better than Halo because I think Halo isn't that great and the weapons in all the Halo games don't feel right to me.

Hmmm, funny hearing about this. While I do have the 360 version (I kinda wished I got the PS3 version, but my only HD monitor is my desktop PC's, which my 360 is connected to) I would think the PS3 version should run the same if not better, because it was the lead platform, as it was announced for PS3 first. Maybe it's your TV? Or perhaps just your PS3 or maybe an update for it. Your PS3 doesn't get unusually hot does it? It might need some ventilation, because when GPUs hit high temperatures, it causes artifacting and framerate buckling. Which PS3 do you have?

A great library of games.

They don't necessarily have to be exclusive but it helps. But yes, games, good games.

Well take into account that wasn't Altair, but Snake in Altair's clothing. Now what I'd love to see is Kojima make some connection to Assassin's Creed as "genetic memories" are a big part of AC and MGS, which refers to the idea in memes. So what if in MGS, they talk about how their has been breakthrough technology in regaining genetic memories that they use in AC? Hahah that would make me laugh so much. Just think, the knowledge gained by reading genetics of a stealth soldier's descendant was used to help train soldiers in the same period as the MGS games! :D

Unreal Tourney 3 is the only PS3 game I can think of that supports mouse and keyboard. For everything outside of games, yes the system can use either USB or Bluetooth based devices. I for one have a wireless keyboard and mouse on my PS3.
