Make sure you're using an HDMI cable. Sounds like you have a PAL (European) machine by the mention of 576i. I think when you're selecting "1080p Only" it's acting as if it'll only take a signal that actually transfered to the TV at 1080p, which means 720p and 480p as well as (i) resolutions inbetween are automatically being cut out instead of accepting them. As far as I know anything you run through the PS3 will be upscaled to your maximum resolution, so I wouldn't worry about messing with settings like that. Just let the PS3 do all the work. Even 720p games will look great running a 1080p set.

You can stand up and be noticed by not purchasing a game.

GX2 cards really don't make that much sense. SLi and even Crossfire rarely ever get a framerate increase return that justifies the money.

When building a new rig at this point, I'd recommend Vista x64 that way you're ready for more than 3 GB of RAM. Just make sure your sound and networking hardware is compatible, I've had issues getting my Wireless card working with Vista x64 on my rig, thank God I have XP (my main OS) to use until a workable driver finally gets released for my Wifi card.

Seems fine to me. Are those idle temperatures or under load?

The lab excursions in STALKER are pretty crazy.

It's going to take an industry that doesn't keep using Direct X, as well as developers/publishers that not everyone has an ultra high end rig. There is a huge laptop market as well to take advantage of, and Intel needs to quit making crappy graphics accelerators in the form of stinking **** that is Intel GMA. Also the public needs to keep thinking that the only good PC games outside of WoW are FPSs that are only good with tons of eye candy that require heavy graphics power. If only half the idiots out there really knew that Far Cry, Half Life 2, etc. run great on older machines/weaker GPU systems and still manage to look great, play great, and best almost all the newer FPS games out on the market.

It's a refreshed line of course, and I guess it's safe to say that the 9 series represents the best values (in the form of the 9600) as well as the ultimate card for purchase (9800). The 10 series will undoubtedly become the next true series of cards.

That would be very very VERY awesome indeed. The game already has great geometry, but some nicer textures, real time full lighting/shadowing and nicer shaders would be very very welcome :D

Well Uncharted is an excellent 3rd person shooter.

Fully agreed, and my favorite PS3 game so far.
