So instead of having a reason to buy a PS4 near launch with a game that would do a fine job of showing off the capabilities of the new system, we get GT6 for the old system and will then have to wait years for a proper GT game on the new one. It's deja vu all over again.
Games with development budgets in the millions will almost always be safe and predictable. Playstation 4 isn't going to change that. What would have made me more excited about PS4 is if Sony would have placed an emphasis on indie development and shown the PS4 as a gateway into that realm of creative game making. Do people really want to play yet another generic big budget FPS game with the same tired old themes?
I'm sure if Sony could sell PS4 at $299 they would to get that all important head start in the next console war but it's probably not possible. Sony has been in the red for the past four years so they probably don't have deep pockets to give away hardware at a big loss. My guess is that Microsoft is in a better position to make such a move.
The console itself hasn't been revealed yet because Sony is saving their biggest surprise for E3: It will have a built in grill. George Foreman will not be happy.
@Redsyrup They're certainly not going to include the cell processor in every PS4 and emulating it is probably extremely difficult especially given how the memory is handled on the PS3.
I still hold out hope that the FF series will become good again. SE seems pretty resilient lately given their efforts with FFXIV. Here's hoping they've learned some hard lessons and are ready to revive the series next gen.
