@Higurashinoni @Tauu I guess, but the PS4 won't have a Halo-caliber series in it's prime like the 360 had at launch. What's going to get everyone and their friends to flock to Playstation World, especially when Xbox Live still has the momentum in the hardcore gamer online console space? The next Xbox can still ride that popularity and the WiiU will probably be selling well at $249 this holiday season. I don't see how Sony can avoid last place unless they hit the ground running with a great launch lineup. We'll see what happens.
It looks like PS4 will quickly fall into last place in the upcoming new console war. $430 plus a $60 game just to get started AND a subscription fee to access most online features? What a waste of money.
None of this really matters, it's all about the games. To that end I predict there will be no exciting game announcements for PS4, just more sequels. Sony will just go on and on about the multimedia capabilities of the PS4 and play a couple of trailers for a new GT or LBP game. They think that'll get the masses to run out and buy the console. The lack of innovation and creativity from the big console makers and developers is really getting old fast.
If the new Xbox 720 is pretending to be a PC it might as well be one. With these features it's almost looking like it'll come running Windows 8, with Kinect to navigate the interface. But why would anyone want this when we can just use our PCs to do all of this stuff and with less restrictions?
Sony and Microsoft keep pushing this home entertainment hub stuff. They must really be out of new ideas for expanding the gaming experience. If the PS4 and Nextbox are just beefed up versions of the PS3 and 360 with more home entertainment "nerve center" gimmicks, then it's going to be PC gaming all the way for me next gen.
I won't be done with X-Com anytime soon. I only play Classic Ironman and I've restarted the game 29 times so far (some of those are to get good steam vent placement). I'm still trying to figure out how to reliably deal with Cyberdiscs and Mutons without having those game ending full squad wipes.
Fire Emblem: Awakening is awesome though. If you have a 3DS and you like RPGs, buy this game.
