Hehe, well the exlusive console titles are of course one way to keep console gamers from changing platform.

Once you play the first couple of Halo/Uncharted games, you'll probably han around and follow the franschise

The same notion has occured to me in the past, but without the awesome metaphor. That was a good read, although I think when new consoles come out they aren't really much better than high-end gaming PC's.

Look at it this way, when Microsoft and Sony start developing new consoles, they use the most advanced tech available at the time. It will probably take them a while to develop the consoles, and also for devs to develop launch titles. When they finally release the cutting edge PC technology will already have surpassed it.

I remember when the current Generation of consoles released, Oblivion was one of the first games to really have some impressive visuals on the consoles. yet when it released, the PC version still looked better if you had a good enough computer.

So while I agree with what you are saying in general, I don't think PC's get totally destroyed by new console generations.

Perhaps PC's have gotten more of a gap pulled out now that the new consoles will still only just be on par with current leading edge hardware.

It's going to be very interesting and I guess we'll probably find out at next years E3 if the rumors of an unveil of the next Xbox at the show is true.

Would be cool to see a break from this recurring cycle for sure.

I do think that some PC gamers have a tendency towards elitism and think they are smarter and more sophisticated than the rest of the gaming community.

These people will also often rage that companies that started off as PC developers (like ID) must stay "loyal" to this platform and that you are selling out if you start making your games for console.

That being said, it does seem like in the specific case with Rage, there were actually PC specific problems that justified negative reactions.

Man, I found the first fight with Letho incredibly hard.

Otherwise it seemed about okay to me on normal difficulty

Hi guys

Mass Effect 3 is not out until next year, but as a huge Mass Effect fan I'm already pretty stoked about it.

Also going to be interesting to see how this supposed multi player is going to work out.

I made a small post about the stuff that I'm looking the most forward to seeing in Mass Effect 3, which you can check out here:

What about you guys?

What are you looking forward to the most in ME3?

RTS games? (though they're not that great on Xbox I think)

Halo wars, Red Alert 3 and such?

Hi guys

As you may have already noticed, PC games seem to be getting more and more facetime lately.

A good example of this is Battlefield 3, which is being shown off on the PC a lot because it looks so much better.

This has prompted me into thinking about the state of PC gaming vs consoles and the cyclical nature of that relationship.

I've put together a small piece about it that you can read here

http://www.lightspeed-gaming.com/2011/10/current-state-of-pc-gaming-and-sysifos.html" title="http://www.lightspeed-gaming.com/2011/10/current-state-of-pc-gaming-and-sysifos.html">

I'd love to hear your opinions, if you agree or if you think I'm completely crazy (which is quite possible!)

Kinda limited for now, but we can only hope that Steam will eventually let us trade games that we have already played.
