I'm *expecting* a very competent WoW clone with some interesting story arcs in it. I'm *hoping* a real evolvement from WoW mechanics and choices that have big meaningful impacts on your character development

I'm really *trying* to get excited for Rage I just think that a lot of what has been shown makes me fear that it is a standard "Tech demo" from ID like Doom 3. Hoping to be proved wrong though and I'll keep my eyes peeled for reviews to hit! :)

Does Warhammer 40k count as a video game world? Otherwise I'd also have to go with Mass Effect

That is rough, man. In general I found all of the boss fights in Deus Ex to be really... not fun. Died so many times that I honestly was very close to breaking something more than once.

I think that there is a gritty feel to the Deus Ex story that is perhaps lacking a bit in Mass Effect. Since it is bound in a very near future setting you can maybe relate a bit more to what is happening. However that said I think the Mass Effect story is much superior to Deus Ex. I felt the pacing was a bit off in Deus Ex. It feels like most of the game you're doing detective work on a contained event with the kidnapping of the scientists (though there are strong implications all throughout that there is a lot more to it than that of course). Then suddenly the terrible truth is unveiled and then the game is over fairly shortly thereafter. I thought that after the big twist there should have been more story to really flesh out the significance of this development and the ending was... not great
