Battle of The Bands: Legends of Rock (Titan vs. Magic)

Well, since ive run out of editiorials to post i have decided to challenge my sister to a battle of the bands of GH3. Here are the rules:

-Each player must participate in every song on any difficulty above easy

-Players will play the hardest songs in each chapter

-One round consists of two chapters; whoever wins the most songs in the chapter wins the round.

So last night it began. Titan; headed by a vikingish Lars Umlaut (myself) went up against Magic; headed by a Japanese pop-star named Midori (my sister). The battle was on! I played on hard, she played on medium.

Round 1

The battle began with Kiss's Rock and Roll all Night. This song ended in a victory for Titan. It looked like Magic was having a tough time waring up. The next song was Heart's Barracuda. Magic got it together for the song but Titan still won. Finally, Rage Against the Machine's Bulls on Parade. This ended in a pretty solid victory for Titan. The first round was won by the same band who won all three songs, Titan. At this rate unless Magic shapes up there really won't be a competition. Come back later today for more BoB:Lor results.

Internet Idiots

I'm sure everyone here has had some sort of online gaming experience, whether it be a game of Call of Duty on Xbox live or World of Warcraft on your computer. If there's something i've noticed about the internet it's the amount of idiots online trying to ruin the gaming experience for everyone else. You'll be sitting here raising your levels or shooting enemies with your team when suddenly some idiot walks up and does anything from call you a noob to spout cuss words. Stupid right? If you know this is you just keep reading. The truth is, people like this are all over the place, and ruin games for the rest of us. They are better left ignored, not goaded. If you do need to respond say something intelligent and not just "Noob". Don't argue if sometime one third your skill level says he/she owns you because chances are, they're just jealous. Instead of taking these people for granted just ignore them, or if you are in a combat area frag them :) Anyway, if you are one of these people think about the kind of trouble you are causing. You could be ruining someones gaming experience. So please, before you act like or pay attention to one of these idiots, think again.

Graphics Smaphics

I like to play video games, so you could call me a gamer. I live in a community with a large number of gamers. Sometimes we get into arguements, debates, and even just general discussion about games. One thing i have heard my friend say frequently is:

"The graphics on the Wii suck." I always find myself telling him that it doesn't matter; and that the wii is not renowned for its graphics, but who cares? The point is, graphics are given too much attention. I mean, i understand bad animations make all of us want to hurl but critiscizing the Wii? It's a brainchild of Nintendo, so of course the graphics are going to be made to be fun and attractive. If you want good graphics, go buy an Xbox 360 or a PS3. It isn't wise to complain about a game when it has a purpose for having bad graphics. For instance: most of Nintendos' games are made to look colorful and friendly. However, this doesn't impress some gamers and therefore is heavily critiscized. However, the PS3 and Xbox 360 have very good graphical engines. These games are made for high performance hard core gaming. You can attack locusts or team up with Spartans to take down baddies. The Wii just is not designed for that kind of violent in depth play. The same goes with the DS; it is made to be interactive and entertaining. The Game cube stands on the fine line between both of these, and sometimes it can be hard to distinguish which category it falls into. All i'm saying is that instead of critiscizing game systems, you should actually play it and see why the graphics are the way they are. Don't mock what you don't understand young grasshoppers.

The problem with Guitar Hero

Who doesn't like Guitar Hero? The attractive control, cheering (virtual) fans, and variety of music to play can entice even the strongest willed of video game players. However, you can actually hurt yourself playing Guitar Hero. Those of you who play on easy or medium, or are very good at expert might not notice this. I just got through playing about three chapters of Legends of Rock, and it felt like my hand was going to explode. My point? Guitar Hero is addictive: Check. Guitar Hero is fun: Check. Guitar Hero can seriously injure your hand: Check. The problem with the guitar controller is that players have to loop their hand over the side to play notes, and fast combos can seriously put some strain on your hand. If you aren't careful you could cut cause alot of pain in your hand, specifically your wrist. Also, when you strum you can hurt your other hand as well. Some people are very theatrical about how they play, and similar to the wii, if you aren't careful you can damage yourself, others, and furniture. Guitars with wires can pull game systems off of their sitting places, or restrain a very mobile player. Don't get me wrong, Guitar Hero is one of my favorite games of all time; but after a few hours of playing i'm absolutely sick of it, and my hands are too cramped to play anymore. So do yourself a favor, take a 15 minute break every few songs. You'll be thankful you did, because otherwise your hands will hurt. Bad.

Project Natal: An Ethical concern?

Project Natal. Many people are looking forward to Microsoft's new software. It can scan objects, detect body movement, and simulate a wide variety of situations, but is it ethical? At this year's E3 a boy made entirely from project Natal was unveiled. He seemed to have emotions; such as being nervous, grateful, or "cheeky" as the woman experimenting at the booth said. Although this may seem like a technological revolution i have to ask, is this boy Milo just programmed to respond like he has emotions, or does he actually have emotions? If he does have real emotions, and can feel joy, sorrow, pain, and other emotions, doesn't that make him a "real" person? Microsoft may be going to far if they can actually create real feeling virtual people. There is a fine line between that virtual soldier that screams "Get Down!" and a virtual boy who can feel. Is it fair to ask a living program to exist inside of a limited virtual reality? Knowing developers, there will also probably be some glitches in the system. What if "Milo" becomes aggressive, or turns on your TV and Xbox on his own? You never know what can happen with new technology. So loyal gamers, i caution you, before buying project Natal, think of the ethics and consequences involved and decide if you really want a virtual boy/girl.

Finally!

Finally, the UPS truck arrived two hours early. Thank you! And inside, guitar hero 3 with a wireless black Kramer. Insert angelic chorus here. Anyway, i finally beat Aerosmith with a dualshock, and now i'm going to beat it again with my guitar on hard; that's why it's still on the now playing list. Also, i have started my band on Guitar Hero 3 and after about 20 minutes i was on chapter 2... dang Hard is harder then i remembered. Right now my sister is struggling to beat "Talk Dirty To Me" on easy. Yea, don't say anything. Anyway, so now i have 2, thats right 2, Guitar hero games :) Well i will go through and try to beat it, maybe play Through the Fire and Flames. If anyone has any tips about unlockables (not cheats) then message me!

Waiting... and waiting...for the UPS truck...

Well, i hopped online this morning expecting to see myself as Level 1 with 50% exp and was pleasantly surprised to see i was actually level 2 with 50% exp and i had gained an emblem. Works faster then i thought! Anyway, so now i'm closer to being able to review games and comment. Woo! So i'm trying to design a new profile logo and banner, hopefully it'll be ready soon but i won't be making it today as it's raining and i can't take a picture that's part of it. Let's head back to the gaming corner, shall we? Last night i got about half way through Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and i have to say, i'm pretty disappointed by the lack of downloadable songs. That might make it lose a point or so. I'm still sitting here waiting for Guitar Hero 3 to arrive, let's hope it gets here by the time my friend Brennen comes over. Gosh. Well, if anyone wants to add me as a friend, go ahead. I'm having a little trouble socializing here. Mainly because forums are so new to me. The only other times i have tried to post on a Forum is when i was in the runescape forums suggesting some new content. Anyway, thanks for your time and if you see any new games (that aren't rated M) that look good, tell me. I'm off to go finish Aerosmith with a dualshock control because the UPS people are taking so long.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith: Flight or Failure?

Hard to say actually. After playing for an hour i was pretty impressed. I grabbed Lars, my usual guitarist, and noticed that he had repainted his spikes and face to look more... errm... Aerosmithy? Anyway i wasn't impressed and i was actually slightly disappointed. I played through the first chapter and was immediately hooked. Starting with your band and switching to Aerosmith via encores was ingenious. However, the singer for Aerosmith had an unnaturally large mouth... go figure. I finally racked up enough cash to get Lars's viking outfit and let me tell you, my dissapointment washed away. Then i got 3 new guitars: A Black and White Fatboy, A guitar shaped like an armed knight, and the "Mako". After asking my brother, we both agreed that the knight one was the way to go. So, after an hour or two of Aerosmith i'm overrall impressed. 8.5 out of 10. It loses points for lacking that heavy/speed metal style we saw from Metallica, Slayer, Eric Johnson, and Dragonforce in GH3. Maybe it's just because i'm a metal addict, or maybe i havn't played far enough. Overall though i am impressed. You just can't beat the old fashioned loud and proud guitar solos.

Aerosmith and Superdogs

Well, my Mom and Sister just got back from Block Buster (where i previously noted they were having a 2 for 1 PS2 game sale) and guess what they brought home? Bolt the Video game (which i Don't plan on playing much, maybe just to get a rating or review for it) and... GUITAR HERO AEROSMITH! That's right! A nice addition to my Soon-To-Arrive Guitar Hero 3! Haha! I will play it with my dualshock controls and tomorrow my guitar control and rate/comment. You will find both games have been added to the rating and games list, and aerosmith has been added to the now playing list! Wish me luck >:)!

What the heck?

Man, although it gives people incentive to come back, i have to ask... what the heck is with the level system? I can't review, comment or anything, and because i'm thirteen i can't look at awesome game trailers. Let me ask, is there anything gorier then the entire Madness combat series or Happy Tree friends (The latter freaks me out *brr*)? Doubt it. And gosh, i just stepped on a friggin toothpick from a school project i put on the floor. Anyway, onto gaming news. I found another game i had! Yay! Stronghold by Firefly studios. I added it to the list. Also, my mom might take me to Blockbuster because they're having a buy one get one free sale for PS2 games. Sweet right? Anyway, later!
