I hope good word of mouth turns it around. It's really one of the better DCEU movies, leaning more towards action-movie-parody (with some amazing fight choreography) than traditional super-hero movie. I loved it!
Good summary. I think the best things they did were 1) revamped the Battle Pass (copy Fortnite shamelessly. Just do it. It earns billions of dollars a year for good reasons. trying to re-invent progression systems at this point is foolish.) 2) expanded on the lore and 3) added alternative modes. Can't wait to see what happens in Season 4!
I think they could have avoided a lot of this by communicating stronger, and earlier on, that they were not going forward with a lot of the changes that they first announced. I think they did announce this, but apparently, millions of people (myself included) missed that messaging.
That said, it is pretty shady that this replaced the original WC3 for people that already owned it, when they specifically said that wasn't going to happen.
@gr4h4m833zy: yeah, I think it's only if you want added functions like being able to host your own servers. IMO it should be part of the game regardless of a subscription, although I appreciate that servers aren't free.
I guess you can't make everyone happy. It's great to see Bethesda putting in the effort to improve the game, but I hope they are still working on a SP Fallout 5.
People here complaining about microtransactions are 1. not the people they are marketed to and 2. hopefully aware that it all contributed to only $361M in profit, meaning 3. they spent $1.2B.
$1.2 BILLION spent.
How do you think they can afford to make games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order?
yes, a 64GB cartridge would be expensive, and that would reduce the amount of profit per game sold.
No, it doesn't make sense to sell a cartridge and still expect people to download the rest. I think that would just make people madder than letting them know they have to download the whole thing.
I hope they don't change their identity too much. I acknowledge that the internet in general and influencers in specific have disrupted how we consume and learn about gaming these days.
That said, I appreciate how we have:
Developer facing conference in the spring (GDC)
Media facing conference in the summer (E3)
Consumer facing conference in the fall (PAX Prime)
and most games follow that pattern of 1) industry networking, 2) media announcement, and 3) fall release. as weird as it sounds, I hope E3 doesn't try to become something it's not.
@Strathmore: I think the max storage for a Switch cartridge is only 32GB. If the game is larger than that, they don't have a choice. It's not a question of being ridiculous or tone deaf, it's just physically impossible.
