@hystavito: I have no idea, but we've seen several cases like this turn out to be true. I wouldn't be surprised.

This is so aggravating. When will people learn? "Depth" isn't a progression system or unlocks or even different classes. Depth is being able to make CUSTOM MATCHES. game modes and choosing variations. like snipers only. or shotguns only. make better maps. etc.

There's some things to like about Battlefront, but the whole game is just too disjointed. like too many board room execs got their way and included arbitrary mechanics and nothing really gels well together. You don't play a game like this for months to come because the core mechanics are just all over the place and not DEEP. :)

@blaise0fgl0ry: Well said. I'm still stunned that Halo 5 didn't win. Let alone that Splatoon won. If Destiny or even BO3 beat Halo 5, a fair argument could have been made. But Splatoon?

But yes, Halo 5 is by far the most mechanically sound AND provides the most content of any MP this year. wow.

@col10: More power to the people that enjoyed The Witcher, but I agree, the combat was terrible. I don't care how epic your story is or how amazing the art is, if I can't PLAY the game, I will pass.

Ironically, Bethesda surprised me with some of the best game mechanics they've ever done, and I love playing Fallout 4. Love it. So much. I don't care that the RPG elements are relatively small and the story isn't super engaging. For me, FO4 was GOTY.

I had to look it up, because I don't remember Splatoon being "one of the best reviewed games of the year." Sure enough, it got 8's and 8.5's. Maybe the content added post launched raised some opinions, but that's hardly "best multiplayer" game of the year. ugh.

Multi-player games need one thing, and it is so mind blowing that many forget it: custom matches. Think of the great games that have endured for years and years and what do they have in common? letting players create their own variations. shotguns only. knives only. everybody against one.

Battlefront HAS bots. there is no reason we shouldn't be able to play vs bots only. this game will fizzle and fade in less than a year.

I remember doing "duck and cover" drills in the late 70's and into the 80's.

I hope that means more innovation for MS as a whole, and not just for Xbox. They need a strong ecosystem. Cross platform.

Really wish Illumiroom became a reality. Hololens looks amazing but needs to increase the FOV. Good luck Kudo!

It just seems like death by committee. They had all these great ideas in some brainstorming sessions - and just added ideas at random. The maps don't feel very well thought out, either. As much as I like it, and WANT to like it, it feels more maddening than fun. Just some really, really weird design choices.
