Well, I mean, he's definitely right about the large amount of spinoffs and content diluting the franchise. As for his criticism of the fanbase, if he's talking about apologists defending movies 7-9, then I agree, but not if he's including regular fans of the first 6 movies etc.

@rizenstrom: Your point holds true for the Star wars universe and all the spinoffs that you don't need to watch, but it's not as valid in the case of Marvel, since most of the series and movies are connected in some way, especially through the various post credits scenes. There are almost no real spinoffs anymore. Everything is connected. Let's say you only watch the main movies, and avoid the Disney+ series, which was initially my goal (which I have now since (begrudgingly) given up on). Well, I refused to watch WandaVision, and so was left not understanding some of the past events they were refering to when watching Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. You'll probably understand and appreciate most of the upcoming The Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, if you've watched all the MCU movies leading up to it, and have made sure not to skip out on Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania, but you'll understand and appreciate it better if you make sure to watch both seasons of the Loki series. Etc. And of course, the series themselves are connected. You need to watch Hawkeye to understand Echo for example.

@stickemup: You make it sound like people who become disatisfied when any movie or show they like and are invested in goes in a direction they don't like, are outliers. They are not. They are the norm, not the exception. Most people are like that. That's normal human nature. By your logic, almost everyone in the world are "crazy". Obviously, there are degrees to everything. Most people just get a bit angry and/or fed up by themselves, and stop at dropping the movie/series/franchise in question, and at most maybe occasionally complain to friends, or to random people on the internet, now and then, if they're particularly invested. That's not the same as being a lunatic who sends Disney death threats, even though both can be labeled "angry".

@Pikminmaniac: I don't know how you can say that. In my experience it's the exact opposite; your weapons breaking DIScourages random battles, because you don't want to break your precious good weapons on trash mobs that give worse returns. Likewise, every time you find a weapon, it does NOT mean something, because you're quickly going to lose it anyway. If weapons didn't break, finding new and better ones would mean a lot more, and be a lot more rewarding.

@Pikminmaniac: The Divine Beasts all look and feel the same to me. There is no unique atmosphere. They're all tiny as well. Heck, they don't even have mini boss fights, and the bosses are all similar as well. Dungeons should be large and long, gradually progressing deeper and deeper as you explore them further, and have a unique atmosphere and design, and have cool and unique boss and mini boss fights. If you look at the Fire and Water Temples in OoT, or the Goron Mines and Lakebed Temple in TP, and compare them to each other, then they are entirely different from each other. If you compare the Goron/Eldin Divine Beast to the Zora/Lanayuru one, they are not. Oh, and also, the fights with the Divine Beasts are part of the lead up to the dungeons, and so not part of the actual dungeons themselves.

Unfortunately, there is still tons of grind and padding if you want to do everything, and the god awful weapon breaking mechanic still persists. And about that; the article is too forgiving of this aspect. Stop saying it's divisive. Divisive would suggest there's a roughly equal amount of people who like the mechanic, to those who do not. This is false. If you visit game boards and forums, and look at polls and the numbers, you'll see that there are at least 3 times as many people that dislike the mechanic as there are people who like it. At LEAST. Thus, if Nintendo were to actually listen to fan feedback, then removing the mechanic and making weapons unbreakable again, would be the ONLY valid option. Weapons having durability and breaking is bad. Don't be apologetic about it.

@Pikminmaniac: I disagree with everything you said so much that I struggle to fathom how you can feel how you feel. More markers for where to go is very much a good thing. More linearity is good. More shortcuts is VERY good. The story in BotW was weak, and TotK is much better. The "dungeons" in BotW were the most pathetic dungeons in any 3D Zelda game to date, by a substantial margin. They're not even real dungeons. That you consider them some of the best boggles my mind. TotK's dungeons are still weak compared to the classic dungeons from the other 3D Zelda games, but they're certainly better than the Divine Beasts in BotW. Basically everything you list as a negative is a positive to me, just like the article claims. TotK isn't a few steps back from BotW, it's several steps forward. Unfortunately, it still has a bunch of problems with grinding, padding, and the god awful weapon breaking mechanic etc, but it's a step in the right direction.

For me, OoT, WW, and TP are all better than BotW and TotK, and TP is the best Zelda game ever, so I say F this list. Bring back classic Zelda games, with proper dungeons, combat, and tighter stories and locations. None of this weapon breaking nonsense and tons of fancy technology (doesn't belong in a fantasy setting with swords and magic), in a giant sandbox world...

@The_Deepblue: Like what? Also, like I said, even if I'm disappointed, I'll still enjoy it.
