I agree with that it did make halo well-liked by a lot of people for instance I loved halo. I don't think its the best FPS i played, but I think it did make the xbox well liked. It also made it hated by a lot of other people, but thats based on their play style. They could of hated it because they just hated FPS and like RPG or they could of hated for some other reason, doesnt matter to be well liked means there are always people to hate it too. Thats the issue, you are argue for or against halo but once again its what you believe in. I believe halo series are a great series of games, and nothing that someone tells me will make me think other wise. But that works the same way for people who hate it too.

Theverydeepend

As mentioned, the loathers feel intense dislike for Halo due to the fact that it's so good and popular. And their favourite shooters aren't.

Well I don't think Halo 3 is the best shooter but I don't have an intense hatred toward Halo 3. I mean if someone offered me a list of FPS shooters Halo 3 would be on my top 10 but not my top 3. And I agree its good but its not "so good" but good enough to be considered 9+ rating. I just never cared for its story line, and the multiplayer seems catered to casuals. But is that a good thing? since its so casual friendly a lot of people can pick it up and have fun. Its not a bad think for a majority of people some people love it, I for one dislike how catered it is. But then again isn't that selfish of me for demanding a game to be made for my specifications? I don't think a majority of people are saying halo series are **** they just don't think its the best, just like you don't think their game is the best. People have different views, which is why we have countries, different religions, states, groups, clubs, friends, and ect... I am sure america does have the same beliefs as any other american, but we are still americans. Just like video gamers don't have the same beliefs of other video games but they are still video gamers. You can't just proclaim something like this about halo.

But do you feel intense dislike for Halo? You don't appear to. That was my point.  :)

You have no proof.

Halo hasn't affected many PC FPS at all. It has caused a bunch of developers to try and compete with it by making mediocre shooters since the turn of the millenium up until now.

Rechargable health is one of the worst things to make it into games.

Everything about it is casual, but because it appeals to the right "pick up and play" audience, people think it's God's gift to gamers. Only the first Halo was worth actually purchasing, Halo 2 gimped all the weapons, Halo 3 had poor level design and felt like it was just a constant buildup to be let down by boring battles with larger dumber enemies.

Leejjohno

So, for what reason did a great deal of people pre-order Halo 3? They must have awaited something positive, right?

I bought it in the first week, and I still own it, and yet here I am. Halo does have legendary hype but I am not disputing that. Also, how could any one actually know the game was as badly made as it is before it even came out?

If a great deal of people pre-order a game, then it has to be something special.

Your opinion is not fact.

Leejjohno

That's not an opinion, that's a fact. Without Halo, no Xbox 360.

Halo fanboy much? How about I shut you up and say every single game you mentioned besides halo and gears are multi platform. You really can only look at its exclusive games and with that the 360 has very little. It is, however, why the halo phenomenon caused ALOT of developers to push FPS out thier asses becuase people were willing to buy them. PLUS, PS3 has a blue ray so that is why it is so freakn expensive and such a better deal since most bluerays alone cost like 400 dollars. Cloud_Reaper

This is about The Phenomenon and its effect on first-person shooters on consoles. If you don't find that captivating, go post in another thread.

[QUOTE="TheDefinitive"][QUOTE="Theverydeepend"] Once again based on nothing more than assumptions. We can never know if the xbox would suceed without the halo series, because it halo exists. You can assume what would happen, but you will never know. IMO Live is what made the xbox name, however thats my opinion and ill never know it will be right because its just an assumptionTheverydeepend

That's what you mean. OK. But Halo made Xbox well-liked.

once again based on your opinion

You can never crown something to be the best as long as we are people with opinions or do you think we don't have a right to think for ourselves? If thats true then you have no right to say halo is the best series.

I guess you expect us to stop thinking for ourselves. Its a shame

Theverydeepend

Well, too bad Half-Life doesn't sell millions within 24 hours. Too bad Half-Life isn't one of the most hyped and awaited shooters ever.

too bad I never talked about half life in any of my posts on these threads, the people you quoted before me were not me. Read the users you quoted. I just logged on like a minute ago and I am defending people's view. I never mention any video game.

PLEASE READ THE USERNAMES OF WHO YOU QUOTE.

I never played half life, but if someone said half life was the best fps Id say they are wrong, because thats based on A ummm... opinion. Just like your opinion on halo.

Since when does numbers mean a damn thing also? Nazi Germany had millions supporting Hilter, does make Hilter a good thing does it?

I'm sure GameSpot did award Hitler a 9.7 and hailed him as one of the finest shooters ever, on any platform.

[QUOTE="bobbetybob"]You don't realise how stupid it is to say Halo was Xbox's savior do you? It was a launch game, how can a launch game save a console that is in a neutral position...bobbetybob

  Halo rescued Xbox. That's a fact. If Halo wouldn't exist, Xbox wouldn't be flourshing. We would never witness Xbox 360.

How can a launch game rescue a console that hasn't launched yet... That's like throwing a life jacket at someones face and saying you rescued them even though they're standing on dry land... "Ah, don't worry Mrs and Mrs Smith I saved your son from his drug habit!...that he doesn't even have" See how it doesn't quite work?

The Halo games are undoubtedly the best FPS you can buy on consoles, probably better than most PC shooters also.I still play Halo 3 to this day.Its just plain fun.

Theverydeepend

PC certainly is a good system to play first-person shooter games on, but what game succeeds in being more excellent than Halo? Half-Life? Unquestionably not, if you ask me. It's a shooter of high quality with a soul, but that's not enough to contend against Halo

once again based on your opinion
