I agree with that it did make halo well-liked by a lot of people for instance I loved halo. I don't think its the best FPS i played, but I think it did make the xbox well liked. It also made it hated by a lot of other people, but thats based on their play style. They could of hated it because they just hated FPS and like RPG or they could of hated for some other reason, doesnt matter to be well liked means there are always people to hate it too. Thats the issue, you are argue for or against halo but once again its what you believe in. As mentioned, the loathers feel intense dislike for Halo due to the fact that it's so good and popular. And their favourite shooters aren't.

But do you feel intense dislike for Halo? You don't appear to. That was my point.  :)

I bought it in the first week, and I still own it, and yet here I am. Halo does have legendary hype but I am not disputing that. Also, how could any one actually know the game was as badly made as it is before it even came out? 

If a great deal of people pre-order a game, then it has to be something special.

   Halo fanboy much? How about I shut you up and say every single game you mentioned besides halo and gears are multi platform. You really can only look at its exclusive games and with that the 360 has very little. It is, however, why the halo phenomenon caused ALOT of developers to push FPS out thier asses becuase people were willing to buy them. PLUS, PS3 has a blue ray so that is why it is so freakn expensive and such a better deal since most bluerays alone cost like 400 dollars. Cloud_Reaper

PC certainly is a good system to play first-person shooter games on, but what game succeeds in being more excellent than Halo? Half-Life? Unquestionably not, if you ask me. It's a shooter of high quality with a soul, but that's not enough to contend against Halo.
