[QUOTE="CleanPlayer"][QUOTE="Pinkyimp"]How can a revoultionary FPS not be taken seriously in the realm of REAL shooters. What has the Doom series become of now? It's not as amazing as it was back in the day. If people liked Counterstrike so much, why aren't they releasing a new one on consoles? Who plays Quake? All you are naming are PC shooters that have failed to make the leap to consoles and be massively popular like Halo 1. Doom is still being played today, the Doom series hasn't really "Failed", its just not what it used to be, Doom 3 was far from a failure, it just failed to capture what Doom 1 and 2 did, and Its still amazing to me, but that IMO, many people still play it, We can hope that Doom 4 brings it back to its former glory.
No...the greatest FPS series ever made is Doom, and Half life come in second... Halo, no matter shape or form, will never be taken seriously in the REAL realm of FPS shooters, Every other PC shooter has already beat it 10 years ago, EX..
Multiplayer- CS, yes Counterstrike completely owes halo Online, it takes that one thing...oh right, SKILL, to kill somebody, not mindless shooting and melee, the game has been going strong for 10 years now, something halo WILL NEVER achieve in its lifetime, CS is the most popular online FPS shooter..This and Quake are undisputed champions of online FPS gaming.
Singleplayer- Half life, give or take, completely Trumps Halo in storytelling, so much mystery behind Freeman, Gman, and such its incomparable to halo, It's in a complete league of its own in the FPS realm, Halo was ok, but saying that halo's story was better than HL's shows you know nothing about the series. this and Stalker are also the best story wise, but sense you probably havent played them, it wouldn't even matter You are the definition of what i meant by "I hate what Halo did to the console FPS market" a prime example.Pinkyimp
Why would valve release a new CS on the consoles?, im sorry but that makes no sense to me, its primarily a PC game, but its played all over the world, its very popular in many areas of the world, CS:Online was released in Asia IIRC, I see no point in bringing it to the consoles, i mean, it has before, but that failed, so i guess valve dosn't want to waste the time and effort making another one.
Who plays quake?, what?, there are many people still playing Quake 3 arena, unless your talking about its single player games, which people still do, but not that much. but here. http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?=undefined&vars=&game=quake3, is a list of servers for Q3A., and im sure Quake Live will start that up again.
Well, none of these games would probably work on consoles, they, after all, where designed with the PC in mind, Quake 3 did make the jump to the Dreamcast, Doom got Doom64, Half life did get a PS2 port, and CS did get a Xbox version, but that failed, im sure each of these games are more popular than Halo 1, or at least equal, and you sound as if these games NEED to make the leap to consoles, which they don't, they appeal to a different crowd.
The Doom series is not as flourishing as Halo. Neither is Half-Life. People wish for more Halo.
