No...the greatest FPS series ever made is Doom, and Half life come in second... Halo, no matter shape or form, will never be taken seriously in the REAL realm of FPS shooters, Every other PC shooter has already beat it 10 years ago, EX..

Multiplayer- CS, yes Counterstrike completely owes halo Online, it takes that one thing...oh right, SKILL, to kill somebody, not mindless shooting and melee, the game has been going strong for 10 years now, something halo WILL NEVER achieve in its lifetime, CS is the most popular online FPS shooter..This and Quake are undisputed champions of online FPS gaming.

Singleplayer- Half life, give or take, completely Trumps Halo in storytelling, so much mystery behind Freeman, Gman, and such its incomparable to halo, It's in a complete league of its own in the FPS realm, Halo was ok, but saying that halo's story was better than HL's shows you know nothing about the series. this and Stalker are also the best story wise, but sense you probably havent played them, it wouldn't even matter You are the definition of what i meant by "I hate what Halo did to the console FPS market" a prime example.Pinkyimp

How can a revoultionary FPS not be taken seriously in the realm of REAL shooters. What has the Doom series become of now? It's not as amazing as it was back in the day. If people liked Counterstrike so much, why aren't they releasing a new one on consoles? Who plays Quake? All you are naming are PC shooters that have failed to make the leap to consoles and be massively popular like Halo 1.

Doom is still being played today, the Doom series hasn't really "Failed", its just not what it used to be, Doom 3 was far from a failure, it just failed to capture what Doom 1 and 2 did, and Its still amazing to me, but that IMO, many people still play it, We can hope that Doom 4 brings it back to its former glory.

Why would valve release a new CS on the consoles?, im sorry but that makes no sense to me, its primarily a PC game, but its played all over the world, its very popular in many areas of the world, CS:Online was released in Asia IIRC, I see no point in bringing it to the consoles, i mean, it has before, but that failed, so i guess valve dosn't want to waste the time and effort making another one.

Who plays quake?, what?, there are many people still playing Quake 3 arena, unless your talking about its single player games, which people still do, but not that much. but here. http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?=undefined&vars=&game=quake3, is a list of servers for Q3A., and im sure Quake Live will start that up again.

Well, none of these games would probably work on consoles, they, after all, where designed with the PC in mind, Quake 3 did make the jump to the Dreamcast, Doom got Doom64, Half life did get a PS2 port, and CS did get a Xbox version, but that failed, im sure each of these games are more popular than Halo 1, or at least equal, and you sound as if these games NEED to make the leap to consoles, which they don't, they appeal to a different crowd.

The Doom series is not as flourishing as Halo. Neither is Half-Life. People wish for more Halo.

Halo is a great franchise, but I don't like what it's done to console gaming.

Before Halo, consoles focused on the genres they were best at. Halo redefined gaming, shooters became the new big genre, and now consoles are just offering a second rate experience for most big titles. Unfortunate, and that's why PC gamers can strut around in arrogance here. Shooters are fundamentally better on PC, and Halo made them the most popular genre on consoles.

It gave birth to shooters on consoles, yes. And every approaching first-person shooter of high quality, no matter if it's on consoles or PC, is going to be compared to Halo.

PC gamers don't ever really compare their big upcoming shooters to Halo.

The majority of them shiver during the time that they hear the name.  ;)

Don't compare Halo to Doom. Halo pulls it to pieces. Half-Life has nothing on Halo. I am aware that it is a good game, but Halo is way better. You also took three games against Halo. Rueful, but that's what you're obliged to do.

Console gamers will never know :(

I have played Doom, Half-Life, F.E.A.R. and other first-person shooters that are hailed as being great on PC.  :|

Halo MP is like Chess. It's simple, strategic and one of the best games of all time. CPM_basic

lulz your mental retardation never ceases to amuse me  yes most people actually did buy Halo 2 for single player for two reasons: Halo's story was f***ing amzing and Bungie showed us stuff that made Halo 2 look even better. What happened? It failed miserably. I will tell you other people did buy it for its multiplayer but that doesn't change the fact that it sucked massive hairy ***** Also from the way your speaking it sounds like you're trying to say I'm a fanboy that thinks Halo sucks  that makes you even more f***ing retarded if you had even bothered to read my edit you would've known I'm mad at Bungie not Halo. So let me guess your one of those "hardcore" fanboys that hoped aboard the bandwagon willing to take any **** that Bungie feeds you right? I think you're one of thoes arrogant fanboys that was mentioned earlier. Halo is not the FPS "god" and the sooner you realize it the better. Trust me kid once you've been around the block a few more times come back and then we'll talk.

Halo is the greatest first-person shooter series ever made. In passing, IGN said that Halo 2's multiplayer was immensely good.

[QUOTE="CleanPlayer"]The first one is my favorite FPS of all-time. Every single weapon was so balanced and co-op story mode was dope. Every FPS wanted to be like Halo. It's the only FPS I know of, that really made the Xbox. 10/10 Halo 2 was dope, too. It had some of the best online multiplayer I've ever played. I loved the sword, new weapons, and WAY MORE NEW enemies. The story was a bit weak, but it's surprises made up for it for me. 9/10 Halo 3.....sigh. I really thought the game was mediocore at best. The story was just pathetic. I was expecting a full-out war like they show in the commercials and I was deceived. They hardly added anything new that blew my mind like in Halo 2, but I did love the Forge mode. I liked some of the gernades Bungie added but I really felt they didn't change enough for it to be a sequel. I hated the MP maps, the expereince system, and actually liked the customization options but I never could get into it. It felt like Halo 2.5. Overall, I'd give it a 5/10. CleanPlayer

So, as you see it, 3.3 million gamers purchased Halo 3 within 24 hours for nothing?

There's no surprise it would sell well, but it doesn't amke the game any better than what it was. I wouldn't say everyone wasted their money, lots of people really like Halo. I was just dissappointed at what Bungie did to the series from what it once was.

Well, GameSpot and IGN didn't award Halo 3 a 9.5 in vain...

i honestly think that halo is simply above the rest, on a different acle altogether. for MP at least. seriously there is no game quite like it. also i'll be back with all my great screenshots. not to mention what halo 3 did in conjunction with bungie.net stats pages is simply mind blowingpi3m4ster

That's correct. It did something that no other first-person shooter has thought of.

From scores to sales Halo has always been a monster hit. Halo is a great game and deserves being a game icon. People always hate the person at the top and that is a big reason Halo gets so much hate because Halo is on the top right now.rybe1025

I concur, and that's what everybody should do! But Halo is never going to go out of sight, loathers!  :D
