I think when the boss clown came out at the end was one of the coolest movie scenes ever.

Who agrees?

Is this forum bizarro world or something? You all can't be serious when you criticize Oblivion so much. Oblivion is considered to be one of the best RPGs ever made. Sure it's not PERFECT, but no game is. But Oblivion is EXTREMELY well made. I have a very hard time believing Mass Effect is even 50% as good as Oblivion, let alone better. I think it's common knowledge in the gaming community that Mass Effect is not even close to the greatness of Oblivion.

Oblivion is one of the greatest video games ever made. It is a completely open world with so many non-scripted events going on. You can literally do almost anything you want to in the game. It has great AI, so many great side-quests, really cool guilds, great graphics, very good realtime combat, etc etc etc. Didn't it take like 4 years to make Oblivion? The game is just incredible!

Now I haven't played Mass Effect, but I have seen reviews and trailers. It does look good, but isn't it basically a linear sci-fi RPG with a lot of cinematics and good graphics? I don't see how it can even be compared to the greatness of Oblivion.

Opinions?

I don't think there is any comparison. Oblivion is one of the greatest video games ever made. Whereas, Mass Effect is just a above average space RPG.

I never found Crysis graphics to be very impressive (and please don't post screenshots, we already know what the game looks like). The NPCs looked terrible, and even certain things, like boulders for instance, looked very mediocre. I agree that the trees looked good, but other than that, I thought the game's graphics were nothing special.

The Witcher is good, but overhyped. Drakensang is AWESOME but not hyped enough.

Yes, it's very good. IMO, Drakensang is better than the Witcher. Not that the Witcher isn't a good game, but the timed click combat in the Witcher is just mediocre.

IMO, Drakensang is a better game than the Witcher. I think the combat gameplay in the Witcher is it's greatest flaw.

Drakensang is an excellent RPG.

Ever notice how Infinity Engine games like Planescape Torment and Baldurs Gate 2 STILL look good even till this day? The 2D graphics with all the artwork still look really good and the graphics have none of those jagged edges that the older 3D games have. The 2D Infinity Engine games seem to age much better than 3D games. Now just imagine if Planescape Torment was able to be run at 1920 x 1200 without any of the environment or characters becoming smaller, that would look incredible even by today's standards. And BG2 would look incredible too with a closer up view (I am not a fan of how far away the camera is in BG2, although it's still a great game) and being run at 1920 x 1200.

Some developer should make an updated top-down 2D graphics engine for RPGs, and make the view more close up (similar to Planescape Torment's view) but with really detailed graphics and a really high resolution. That would be plain awesome!

Who agrees?

Which RPG (not MMORPG) is the most complex and difficult to play, or has the steepest learning curve?
