Years ago, I tried playing Baldurs Gate 2 and I found it very confusing. I had no idea what was going on, or what to do. I tried playing Icewind Dale, and the combat was very difficult and confusing. I tried playing Fallout 2, and again, it was confusing and I had no idea what to do. Divine Divinity got kind of confusing after a while also. Planescape Torment was easier to play and was a good game overall. I didn't know every detail of what was going on in Planescape, but I figured out the general idea, and played it quite a bit, but didn't finish it. Neverwinter Nights was easier to follow also.

Diablo 2 was easy to follow and I played that a lot. I am currently playing Nox, and it's easy to follow.

I may possibly try playing some of the old RPGs again, and see if I can figure them out or complete them.

I recently completed Fate and Fate Undiscovered Realms, and I thought they were good games. But I have heard Nox is a much better game. Is this true? Some even say that Nox is one of the best action rpgs ever made. Is this true?

Diablo 2 is the greatest video game ever made?

Even though I don't play it anymore, I still think Diablo 2 is probably the greatest video game ever made. There are many other excellent games out there, but it seems that so far nothing has ever reached the greatness of D2.

Who agrees?

Other than Baldurs Gate Series, Icewind Dale series, Fallout series, Diablo series, Divine Divinity, Beyond Divinity, Planescape Torment, and Zax Alien Hunter, what are some other 2D top-down PC games?

Thanks.

Lolwut. Divine Divinity despite it's flaws blows Fate and any other lame ass diablo clone out of the water. And yes, it is a true hack and slash RPG, it just has more quests and a better storyline

LOL!! Divine Divinity is unorganized and frustrating. Characters are extremely stiff motioned. DD makes FATE look cutting-edge and state-of-the-art. DD does have a good storyline, but that's about it. And oh yeah, the spells in DD look goofy and not very impressive. DD is still a good game, but FATE is far better technically and much more fun to play.

And to the person who mentioned Heroes V, this discussion is not about turn-based games.

I have Divine Divinity. It's a good game no doubt, but there are problems with it. First off the movement is veryclunky, and because of the clunky movement it seems like an even older game than Diablo 2, which it isn't. Second, the quests are not straight forward, and it's easy to get lost and not be able to figure out what to do, which can be very frustrating.

FATE is far more organized and polished than Divine Divinity. And FATE is just plain more fun to play.

IMO, Fate and the Fate expansion (Undiscovered Realms) is the best Diablo-type hack-and-slash game until Diablo 3 comes out (Witcher doesn't count because it's not a true hack-and-slash). Fate is better than the Sacred and Titan Quest games. And for those who think that it's too immature of a game, you can turn on blood in the game console by pressing Ctrl + Shift + ~ and typing "blood" near the "?".

So basically they are slowly ruining the genre to appeal to a more mainstream audience? That's sad. If that's the case, I don't know if it will be worth getting the next generation of consoles, if all the games end up being action or shooting games for casuals. I like action and shooting games too, but there needs to be variety, and deeper games too.
