@gonn1801 @Timmy_Gwar Very fair, I do agree. I posed it as a simple question admittedly. I will say I have yet to encounter this mystical "perfect logic" you speak of.
The choices and consequences that require interaction in games certainly sets them apart, but I think that the feelings of aggression can be the same as what you would experience if you where made to hate a literary character.
I would actually argue that, given the book banning of the past, video games are (sadly) the new alternative to books for a lot of people, especially the younger crowd. Which is ridiculous to say because I'm twenty-four and most of the people younger than me should't be able to buy this game. I'm just a bit aggravated that we can't look back and say: "We got through 'Catcher in the Rye' we can probably get through GTA". I realize there is a difference between the death of John Lennon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_David_Chapman) and the recent tragedies (far too many) that we've had to overcome. But we haven't had solid confirmation that games are the only/biggest issue. Attitudes are the biggest issue for me, and if you don't want your kid to shoot someone, don't give them access to a f**king gun people!
@FriendBear To put it simply. The standards that the Criminal justice system puts in place in any given country may or may not comply with the attitudes of another, we've established this.
If you buy an illustrated image of an under-age girl where that is normal, the attitude toward that sort of action will be pretty lax. If you then bring that material to a place where the attitude is "sexualixing under-age girls is wrong" (I am fully aware of the looseness of "wrong") then you are subject to the laws that coincide with that places general attitudes. Regardless of the content being illustrated or animated.
Show a lolicon picture to a cop, see what happens...
@CloudHiro @kazzu Sure, but you just described the same process that most other countries would use in this situation. Can you elaborate on why due process is strictly Canadian? Would they have just shot him anywhere else? Hate this guy after he's found guilty, whatever a paedophile is a paedophile and prison is more punishment than just being locked away. Just please try not to call out an entire country's legal system based on loose information from an un-cited source. You can see how that might anger people.
@Evan0605 I won't speak ill because the guy does a decent enough job and I certainly read the articles. But it's getting to the point where you can tell it's one of Eddies once you've read the title. That is if you haven't already assumed that a large portion of the front page doesn't have his name on it anyway.
It's a little too much, and I usually see the story on Reddit first, just saying.
@ForceofNature9 Yeah, you would think a sex hotline would be happy for the massive amounts of lonely "indoorsy" people that just got sent their way.
Just shows that abusing the legal system is the quickest way to make the most money. Sadly. Where is "Don't Sue People Panda" when he is needed the most?
@Apastron I don't think that's realistic. They stand a big chance at losing a lot of money in legal fees. Not to mention settlements and the money to pay programmers and worldbuilders to systematically locate and remove all of this stuff.
I just don't think it's a fiscally sound derision.
@Spiritwolf99 Yeah, I just cant help but imagine the WoW nerd from South Park. When I found actual easter eggs as a kid, I did not go to the farm at which they where produced to tell them that someone was wasting their eggs by colouring them.
@k0k066 I assume you are working for a reputable publication? Journalism/communication major? It's fine to say you don't agree with, and you did it in a mostly polite way. Keep in mind anything you say before "you'll get it right" to someone who has a paid position here, is akin to saying "no offence" as a free license for ignorance.
Again, you're polite enough, just be careful of your criticism when you have the option to watch elsewhere.
Sorry for taking this out on you, it just seems like everyone is Barbara f**king Walters all of the sudden...
@Solid_Max13 I think they can see thier way to give the song a 9.5. Looks like they got the humor and references down pat(ish) but the gameplay might be too boring to get through all of the good stuff.
