M$ Exec: "Quick! Distract the community and our investors from talking about the Xbox 1 by releasing obvious and inconsequential information about our current console that is rapidly nearing the end of it's cycle!"
@nickpeck36 "A past report claimed Microsoft was working on a solution for those in Internet-free scenarios, though the company now says no such plan is in place. "
@DanteScene Right, but the PS3 still struggled early because of the price, which is my point. He is pretending like it's not an issue (a trend lately, as they are determined to ignore the community) but it is one of many that will lead to a sub-par launch.
Isn't this pretty much what Sony was saying last gen about their outlandish pricing? The sign of a wise man is the ability to learn from others mistakes....
@papidelnegro21 At the very least they should look back at what made VII and X so compelling to their audience and think about how to implement those features in the new game. People didn't like the new turn based system in XIII. So instead of going back to something that was acceptable (X's, or even XII's as that seemed to be loved more than XIII's), they are going full on action RPG with XV. Bring back interesting story, amazing music, realistic/compelling characters and an over world map and I might give this one a shot, but they clearly don't know how to listen to their fans.
@Bloodseeker23 Nope. Turn based game play can be both compelling and difficult when done correctly. Go play Persona 3/4 for an example of a great modern turn based combat. Besides, JRPGs in general have been about story first, characters second and game play third. Battles where a way to 1: Keep the player busy from point A to point B and 2: So the player can grind for items, levels, etc, so they could get past the much tougher and story centric boss battles. When they focus on graphics and the battle system they aren't focusing on what made the franchise great in the first place. That being said, they might pull it off, just doesn't seem like the best start to me.
"With all these strong titles in our lineup, we would like to reassert how important Final Fantasy is. We are making every effort to measure up to fans' expectations."
"The action takes place entirely in real time, with none of the command-based combat that Final Fantasy is famed for. Protagonist Noctis leaps around the environment with aplomb, uses walls to take cover, and unleashes brutal-looking sword attacks while climbing up the sides of buildings, or gliding across the city."
If by 'measure up to fans' expectations' you mean 'water the series down even more until it is barely recognizable as a JRPG, alienating the people that made the franchise successful in the first place' then yea, you're living up to our expectations.
So just like EA with Sim City, they are going to try and push the 'always connected' thing as a benefit for consumers, a poor attempt at trying to get us to believe that it isn't strictly for DRM.
