I couldn't agree more. I know that a demo is rarely an accurate portrait of the full game, but man was the ME2 demo terrible. It definitly turned me away from purchasing the full game. Maybe when a price drop hits, because I'm still curious as to what all the fuss is about.

skinny_man_69

That's what the fuss is ALL about. True Story

You should get extra points for that.....

For being right

And another thing I'd like to add....

Whoever was trying to compare the graphics of this game to Uncharted 2 and God Of War 3 (2010's GRAPHIX KING CHAMPION ;) ).....

Well....pfft.

That's all I have to say about that.

What a joke.

For the longest time I've been wanting and waiting to play the Mass Effect series on my PS3 because every freakin site said the game was amazing.

Well, I finally got through the demo and while I'm somewhat interested in the story, the "vaunted gameplay" was so overrated it wasn't even funny.

Even some of you people here told me how great the game was and how awesome the graphics were, etc, etc...but what was so great?

Just to give you an example of the graphics, take a look at this...he's totally right....there's so much uncanny valley going on its ridiculous.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4I8raiR3g4

The gunplay? That indeed was a joke. I don't find shooting at guys 12 times (Halo-esque) to be fun.

I'm definitely scratching this game off my day 1 buy....heck I might just end up trading for it on Craigslist or renting or something.

Definitely disapponted by everyone telling me how great this was.....it ain't.

[QUOTE="Ravensmash"]I prefer XBL. How can I search through ALL demos on PSN (alphabetically)...I only got the most recent.Ravensmash

The Alphabetizing on the PS3 demo's are as follows: A-C, D-G, H-M, N, O-R, S, T-Z, and 0-9.

I color coded it so it would be easy for you and others who don't understand how PS3 works.

Yeah I got that right after I posted - still wish there was a full list like XBL though.

Why?

Is the American Alphabet a bit difficult to understand?

Is it your second language?

I was gonna say Metacritic or GameRankings, but then I remembered that Gamespot is law around here, so in honor of "the law", lets use GAMESPOT.

What's the worst Gamespot scored game you own.

Notice I said game (singular), so just 1 please.

However, if you own multiple platforms, then I suppose it's alright to name 1 game per current gen. platform.

Lets go.

I own a PS3 and the lowest scored game I own is,

STRANGLEHOLD

Came with my PS3 when I bought it, so I don't actually claim that one as "my own doing", or "a product of my loins". :P

And are they going to pay for all the bandwidth to host all that content out of the goodness of there hearts. Lets say you download an HD Movie at 7GB from this new service, not a lot on its own, but what about the other hundreds of thousands of people downloading it to? It costs for the bandwidth and the servers to host/process all that! What about the licensing costs they have to pay for the codecs and then the knock on affect on Blu Ray sales as its now free online!

To be fair you have a great idea where the online service is heading but it wont be free due to the huge infrastructure costs needing to be invested.

DroidPhysX

What are you talking about?

I mean....How does Apple pay for their bandwidth? How does Valve pay for Steam's bandwidth? Hulu? Other streaming services? Other gaming services?

You make it sound like there aren't already dozens of services online that don't already do this. And then you make it sound like Sony isn't bigger than any of them and therefore can't pull it off.

What are you talking about?

ISPs like comcast/verizon charge for bandwidth. Why do you think there are adverts on youtube videos;)

Ah yes....ads.

Thank you for making my point. ;)

And once they get you in, they will not only sell you their stuff, but other people will sell you their stuff too....AD SPACE is all the rage these days.....or haven't you heard?

Debate Mode: On [QUOTE="Unnatural101"]

[QUOTE="ronvalencia"]

For today's raster render workloads, the RSX/Geforce 7 is an aging GPU.

From http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=57736&page=5

ronvalencia

I'm not sure If I can say this clearer but I'll do my best....

You and many others do their best to try and compare the PS3 to PC architecture, but that's your first mistake....the PS3 is not like PC architecture and is not supposed to fully function like one, specifically the GPU.

Yes, by itself the PS3's GPU it is weaker than the XBOX 360's GPU, but the PS3 is not supposed to run on the GPU alone....it wasn't made to do that, not for best results. The PS3 was specifically made to use the GPU and the Cell Processor. That's why the Cell Processor does floating point better than any other AMD or Intel, i7 or otherwise, to date.

You keep refering to the GPU, and long story short, for the PS3, you are only talking about half of the PS3's proverbial equation.

The bottom line, if you add up the total Flops and total power that the PS3 has vs the total Flops and power that the XBOX 360 has, the PS3 shows that it can do more than the XBOX 360.

What I don't understand is, Why is anyone arguing this?

What mistake? The posted RSX's design issues points to why SPUs must be used for current raster workloads.

Your mistake is that the raster graphics involves more than the simple Add-MUL FLOPs.

As for totaling PS3's FLOPs, let look at RSX's FLOP inefficiencies.

Note G70/RSX's pixel shaders/math stalling during texture operations. Your theoretical FLOP count is already debunked.

If FP32 Shader Unit 1 stalls, the rest of the dependant Shader/ALUs also stalls. Your theoretical FLOP count is debunked again.

Like Geforce 8+/Radeon HDs, ATI Xenos has fully decoupled it's texture and shader units.

My AMD** Radeon HD 5730M kills STI CELL in floating point.

**ATI doesn't exist and AMD sells "SIMD array" processors i.e. "GPU" is NVIDIA's marketing term.

Lots of misinformation on your part.

First your assumption that the RSX is equal to that of a G70 is just that...an assumption at best.

Second, once again, The RSX without the Cell processor is a moot point.

3rd, and most important,

Nothing in your graphs/charts points to either the RSX or Cell...and it certainly doesn't point to the power of both combined....so I have little clue what you were trying to accomplish here.

Whatever it was, I think it failed. Sorry.

Come back again when you have some data on the Cell and RSX combined...then we can go from there.
