lol, all those games are called action-adventure even games like GTA or RDR.

Just looking for a specific sub-genre

KlepticGrooves

Fair enough. What's the point in identifying the sub-genre though?

because when I go to buy games, I can just ask for the genre instead of looking at the back of every game and researching it online.

It does seem a lot different between games like spiderman and games like GTA where you just run around and less movement.

1) For "speed" games like spiderman : Web of shadows, infamous, or ninja gaiden sigma 2 that features a lot of fast running, climbing, and combat instead of relying on power or stealth, are there specific names for these types of games? Because a lot of speed like in those games can make up for lack of stealth or brute power.

KlepticGrooves

No idea, although I'd call Ninja Gaiden a "Hack n Slash"

2) Also, is there a name for the games like batman : Arkham asylum or assassin's creed 2? I mean assassin's creed features a lot of fast running, climbing but it also features a lot of stealth, even though it's not really considered a stealth game. So is there a specific sub-genre for these types of games.

It's just that the above games seem a lot different from games like GTA, where it's more "human-like" without all the fast running, climbing, whatever.

how accurate do you think my list is btw? I just listed out games above 7 rating.

Stealth means stealth lol. Speed means fast movement and combat in like running, climbing, fighting, whatever. Stealth+Speed means little bit of both.

Numbers means the ranking based on the rating. Please add anymore games if you see any relevant ones.

Stealth

1) Metal Gear Solid

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell

Stealth & Speed

3) Batman Arkham Asylum

4) Assassin's Creed

11) The Saboteur

Speed

2) Ninja Gaiden Sigma

5) inFamous

6) Devil May Cry

7) Spider-Man: Web of Shadows

9) Prince of Persia

10) Just Cause 2

thanks

never mind I found out how to do it :P

It's pretty much the same though to be honest. I mean a good game is a good game, a bad game is a bad game.

you know, you could read them both...LoG-Sacrament

I don't like reading ign since you can't really order it from high-low scoring.

[QUOTE="jun_aka_pekto"]

If you like something you'll make the time for it. I work 8-hr rotating shifts 4 on/2 off. When you're married, forget about spending too much time going out with friends. Most of the time I spend outside the home when not at work is the 1-1.5 hours daily at the gym. That and attending a few classes a week. All my friends are married too and in the same boat. We get to see each other sparingly, usually at potlucks or at one of our kid's birthday parties. Otherwise, I'm at home where there's plenty of time for family and gaming.

But remember the sentence in bold. You're kidding yourself if you think you can spend equal time with family and friends. If you're married, you'll be spending most of your free time at home. Otherwise, expect an eventual divorce farther down the line.

jun_aka_pekto

that "sentence in bold" depends on the circumstances. For example, my father always goes out with his friends to eat at night and so does my friends' parents. He gets home at 10-12 pm. Each family is different.

Yeah, you're right. I suppose that can happen. But in the case of myself, I have to be home for supper, check the kid's homework, and help her review the day's subject matter. I manage to squeeze in some substantial gaming time in between. Bedtime is usually between 11pm and midnight. I usually chat with my friends via IM or email anyway. So, it's not like we don't keep in touch. But, staying out late at night has pretty much gone away.

lol, my dad never did that. My mom did. Plus, now that I'm in high school, no need for that.

It's all kind of subjective. I find IGN reviews to be generally better written, with the exception of Kevin-V and Bethany. On the other hand, I think GameSpot scores are more accurate most of the time.

Bigboi500

okay thanks ;D

btw, how come there seems to be so few games for the consoles? I mean when I walk into a video game store I see many games for a console
