[QUOTE="Vectoin"][QUOTE="NavigatorsGhost"][QUOTE="Grive"]Uh, what? If you want to look at it that way, then the entire business world operates on technicalities. :lol:a technicality as much as you wish. The concept behind this strategy (if true) is pretty much the same thing as the concept behind the bait-and-switch strategy, only adjusted in order to make it legal.

They are introducing a new product. They can't meet demand. Thats it. It just so happens they also sell a very similar product which has the same function but also extra features.
This is not a 1 time availability item. Its not like if you can't find it next week, it will be gone forever.
And again, Sony is going out of their way to tell retailers not to advertise for the product in an attempt to avoid problems.
Do you honostly think that any cow is going to admit that their beloved company would stoop to such a low level? Sony can meet the demand for the PS3Lite, but they would rather purposely keep it's supply low to dupe people into buying the more expensive model. How is this not bait and switch? DXGreat1_HGL
Lol, another fanboy using an economics term which he does not fully understand. Heard it used in Econ 101 in high school and thinks he knows how to apply it to the real world.
If you actually read the posts in the thread instead of just the topic title and the TC's post, you might be able to understand that the answer of why its not a bait and switch was already given. And this thread should be closed because again it goes back to the TC reading half a news article (if that much), incorrectly interpreting it and attempting to bash Sony based off that.
Mmm, I love the fact you debase peoples argument by a person's economical rationality, and, in short, fail to validate your own arguments. You're arrogance is placed on ignorance!
Why wouldn't I debase their argument on this? They are trying to discuss an economic idea/principle and they really don't know what it is and are using it incorrectly. So their whole argument fails. Duh?
I already proved and validated my argument, with links. FACT: What they are doing is not "bait and switch". See previous post as to why.
People talk out of their ass all the time on this forum, and when they get called on it, they have nothing to say. The TC was trying to discuss something of which he has no understanding. He was proved wrong and tried to backtrack by saying he was using the term "bait and switch" loosely.
The fact remains, that he made this thread in an attempt to single out Sony for doing something wrong. Whether or not you agree with the legality of what Sony is doing (and it is legal) is irrelevant because MS does this as well.
And please quote the part in the article where the Sony employee says "we are purposely limiting the 40gig model in an obviously attempt at the classic bait and switch, so we can screw over consumers"
Wow, there's no sense in arguing with you. You clearly have a bias with Sony, and you'll defend it without consideration of the possibility. I've read your previous post and they are purely lacking in merit.
The thread was to inform the users about the likelihood of another SKU and it's availablity. It also eludes to the bait and switch, why is it hard for you to comprehend that practices are more common than you make it out to be. It's senseless to even protect a corporation of ethics or morality.
You also have no practical knowledge in economics; however you may want to spin your own webs and concocted fantasy bliss. Besides, it's not like anything anyone says opposite to your own narrow belief is going to propell you into a tizzy of blind faith. Have fun ion your fantasy world!
