There's a couple of genres that haven't been touched in years. I'm tired of shooters or rpgs that dominate the current generation. Don't get me wrong that I advidly enjoy the Orange Box, World in Conflict, Halo 3, and Zelda the Phantom Hourglass. It's been far to long since we had an adventure game or a space simulater.

For adventure games if anyone played Syberia, Myst, Grim Fandango, Indigo Prophecies, The Longest Journey and it's sequel, would have mutual agreement. What this generation of gaming is lacking are great adventure games with puzzles and an unsurpassable story; intrigue and mystery, and the like. If you've never played any of the following -- what are you waiting for? I know Mass Effect will deliver and that is one of the most anticipated game I'm look forward to this holiday. If I could burglarize BIoware I would! Though, the game doesnt' represent the genre, it does retain primary elements, should not be considered a true adventure game.

The second genre is space similulators. Can you remember the last time you've engaged in an epic battle in your fighter class ship against a Destroyer class capital ship? There is only one game that comes to mind, Freespace 2. The only game that comes close is Homeworld 1/2. and they're not even space simulators. Space simulations are a prime example of a dead genre that would have the best potention especially in the current generation. If Freespace 2 during the 99s could generate such mind-numbing graphics, could you imagine the possibilities? I'm would to say that I miss piloting a ship and against all odds preventing the Shivan Juggernaut from destroying our Homeworld. Watching a head on collision between the Colossus and a rebel frigate at a safe distance or exploring an uncharted nebula. Why have we been forsaken?!

[QUOTE="accameron"]It's about damn time the Japanese got off their butts and started playing some real games! None of this sissy anime/poke-animal catching crap. Real, AMERICAN butt kicking, that's what AMERICA is all about, and that's what gaming is all about. -Maddog-

Thats whats gaming about? Real games? Calm down there Bush Jnr....Halo 3 is good, but don't have to wet your pants over it. Many MANY prefer other genres, The japanese for example..but since Halo 3 is a great and probably the best FPS experience...why's it surprising?

Good 2 know..BTW.

yOU'RE TELLING HIM TO CHILL WHEN IT'S AN OBVIOUS JOKE. cOM EON, GROW A SENSE OF HUMOR, YOU WON'T BE SO BITTER 24/7.

After th eweek past, since the launch of Halo 3, the worldwide 360 sales have douubled WORLDWIDE! The total sales have reached $300 million!

Even with all the critisms from the hates combined can't spin this negatively!

It's really not saying much at all. Halo 3 is the most hyped/advertised game in recent history, and Xbox360 sales weren't exactly hot in the time leading up tothe Halo 3 release. There was a lot of room to climb. It's still too early to tell however. It'll be interesting to see how far Halo 3 and Xbox 360 sales drop in the next few weeks. With record sales comes record dropoffs.

Come on do you seriously believe that a console this established will have people returning used consoles after playing Halo 3? Crayon up the nose?!

Dont' forget that they have two other platforms. To believe that the PS3 is finacially viable to generate a profit alone, is misinformation.

Real reason why so many PS3 games are being delayed - "The PS3 is selling like crap. We are unsure at this time about the future of the platform, and thus we are stalling so that we may have the time to make alternate plans".

Yes, a great business decision would be to invest millions in development and then not release a game at all and lose all that money already spent, rather than recoup any of it. Genius.

I think releasing a game knowing it will flop in sales is worst than not releasing the game until improved userbase is established.

Not neccessarily. If the development costs were financed then they are paying accumulating interest on monies not being recouped. You are also delaying earnings on investment and taking a hit on stock prices. It's not a good financial strategy.

You do know it's still in development, and it hasn't even gone gold yet. This delay is a halt. When the decided to delay it wasn't yesterday, they more likely would have slowly funneled out programers for the port. Not to mention, general manufacturing (BD is expensive compared to DVD), shelf space, distrubution, and long term support; through a none unified online system to new and free map uploads, are all different codes and require a PS3 based team.

So to think that a sudden break in production is lacking in elementary properties. You have to cut your loses before you you lose your head. It's common sense.

I hope I'm not the only one that can't help but express concern about MGS4. No it's not graphics or the gameplay as that's also debatable. I'm refering to it's story, after watching the new trailer, it's as interesting as an infant's curiousity with metal conductants and electrical outlets. I mean it's completely ape @!#$! Don't get me wrong I've played and enjoyed the complete trilogy of MGS, so I have some critical merit.

Okay, some of you diehards are wondering, 'wtf MGS pwns all it am greatest story eva.' False; Kojima has introduced a lot of crazy ideas that are pushing the limitations of comprehension. For instance, supermodels into cybornetic-super-soldiers, Liquid Snake's possessive arm - especially to the best character int he game Ocelot(IMO), Dennis Rodman arms dealer, robocop Raidan; no matter what you say, he's still a whiney-little-sexually-confused-androgenous,a skin head monkey drinking a can of cola, action flailing, a Big Mama, etc... The list freaking goes on! That's just to mention the crazy, and the dialogue... the lines he use to accentuate the mood is piss poor, I mean the battlefield changes people? Isn't it obvious!? It's like Airline lingo, 'make sure you take your personal possessions that you might have brought on board.' Of course it's personal, you think i would bring public belongings like a park fountain on board or that I might have brought my collection of nail clippers aboard?

Kojima, though having created some great games in the past, particularly some what interesting storyline, MGS1 being the best. It's evident that he might pulled another MGS2, storywise. Using God-awful cliches, being captain obvious, and borrowiing ideas from a multitude of movies, and creating one big mess. It's like putting each members favourite ingredient all into a pot. It's going to be mess and ain't going to taste Campbell's good.

[QUOTE="veren"]Over a year now, maybe even approaching two. I've been looking forward to this day for so long now... the first time I get some hands-on loving with Crysis or Hellgate. I bought a $1800 desktop. I've been marking the calendar to the releases. And oh, to my great wonder, to think that I would get into the Crysis beta AND the Hellgate beta in the very same day! Wonder of wonders! Nope... Hellgate site is down and Crysis download isn't working. So tell me, is life even worth living anymore?nic4games

You are fairly pathetic if you believe the line I highlighted....

its just a figure of speech

YOu spent 1800 dollars on a new desktop. May I ask what your specs are? :|
