@tom4et87 @Verenti I'm sorry, I was using a translation of the German Herzinfarkt, which translates into English as myocardial infarction, roughly. What I typed originally, at 3 am, was two letters off your "correct term".

Like DBS said, the figurehead is the carving on the front of a ship, designed to bring good luck. A masthead is the top of the mast, which is the pole on which a sail is hoisted.

It does me unspeakable distress when you two talk about history. Please stop.

Why would the ruling class be unionising people? That would be the opposite of what they'd want. As for Thatcher's connection to unions, she was responsible for union busting, not unionising; her anti-union stance was a trait she shared with the classical liberalism of the SECOND Industrial Revolution which was in vogue, economically, until around the end of the First World War.

I should mention also that a setting that relies on electricity wouldn't be steam-punk, because a trope of those settings is that they are permeated by mechanical technology driven by steam-power. Electricity began the journey with an entirely new family of technology known as electronics, with which I am sure you are familiar.

"But Verenti, we were displaying a lack of knowledge about history ironically!"

Well, it wasn't evident. It just sounded like you were trying to induce a cardial infraction.

But I like comprehensive trade agreements and bilateral tariff reduction negotiations!

Where can I find a version of Destiny that shares my love for global trade law harmonisation?

Wow, that's was... really ad like. I mean, you clearly conducted an interview, but you didn't ask him any questions besides "if I gave you time to sell your game, how would that play out exactly." Doesn't hurt that this followed like twenty spots on WOW hosted on Gamespot. I like how Zorine also had nothing bad to say about it. Nothing she would have done better, no comments to make other than "look at these new features. They dragged me back to WOW (so if you lost touch with WOW, maybe its time to come back and try out these new features!)"

This is either "covert" advertising or incompetent journalism.

Lucy, you REALLY like Lord of the Rings. That's a lot of references. almost* too many references.

*'Almost' should read 'most definitely'**.

** Or whatever. It's your show. Do what you want*** with it.

*** please not more Tolkien references. My little heart can't take it.

I do tend to make myself, and my DA:I character really resembles me, and isn't idealised at all. I tend to use (multiple) reference photographs when making a character, just so it looks just right-- partially because I love staring at my own computer face while it talks. It feels like someone is playing me in a movie. Never looks quite right because the "mimik" (to borrow the German term) is all wrong. It's obviously not how I move or gesture that keeps it from looking convincing.

That aside, there are usually two or three traits I incorporate into every character I make. Regardless of gender, they have a very pointy triangular nose, and hard set eyebrows. If I'm making a woman, my own preferences get filtered in: cat eyes, high cheekbones, strong jaws and chins. But that said, most women I make follow the same archetype of a strong and noble warrior, a bit stoic. Probably the best way to describe them is as valkyries.

My male characters are usually cunning figures who are concerned with power. A bit machiavellian. They tend to try to win battles before they occur by stacking the deck in their favour and using that to force a capitulation. Usually the men are passionate, romantic figures, which leads to an interesting contrast with the stoic nature of my female characters with men being emotional and women less so. Men who try to change the world and women who try to hold it back.

I wouldn't say this is necessarily a success. I mean the information relayed did fit into two minutes, but the selection was rambling and arbitrary. It covered two religions, three orders and one country. I think this show would have been better served by not choosing the hot topic, but rather a topic that was better suited to the concept of the show.
